Hi Joanne,
I know what you mean about the certificates being a lot of work but I personally love "playing" with paper almost as much as playing with fabric, so the tags and cert's are fun for me to make even though they are time consuming. As someone who collects and sells, I can tell you from my perspective when I receive a bear with lovely paperwork and packaging, it's like icing on the cake! I have received bears shoved in plastic bags from wonderful artist's - no cert. or paperwork at all. I shuddered when I opened that one! Then, another artist sends hers with a little candy for the bear to eat on the way (but for some reason they save it for me ;O) and she sends a cert. and hangtag, and unwrapping her bears makes me feel like it's my Birthday - I love the whole experience! I like having the cert. and hangtag. I keep them together in a file because I feel that one day when I'm no longer here, if my family wants to sell or give away my collection, it would help to know who made the bears. Plus, as a work of art, I think the cert. is necessary - bears from the Hallmark store come with a hangtag but you are making a work of art, so it deserves a bit more ;O) That's just my 2 cents worth! xoxo

He's wonderful and his name is perfect for him!

Awww, such a sweet story - I was so sorry to hear about her nightmares and it made me smile to read about her waking up and touching your
face with her paw just to make sure you were there and you were going to keep her safe!
Enjoy your new little furry friend (may want to buy some new underwear just in case she has decided that is her toy of choice!!!!)
Hugs,
Janice
Good luck to Sarah!
Wow, what a wonderful first bear! Congrats ;O)

I'm an alien, too! When I first learned to make bears, my "teacher" was an engineer prior to being a bear maker so he was quite adamant about measuring everything, I hated that! I usually don't even draw, I just pick up the scissors and start cutting my pattern from paper. To fit the gusset, I bend the paper along the side of the head piece and then add about a 1/4" that I can cut off of the fabric later ;O) I'm sure those who do things the "proper" way would shudder to see the way I do it!
Hugs,
Janice
Sooo sweet!
Very cute!
I ladder stitch the opening of the ear and pull tight, it makes a nice cup! Good luck on your Teddy Roosevelt! I look forward to seeing pictures.
Janice
I love them, Joanne! As much as I love your realistic bears, these reproduction bears are adorable, too!

Janice
So sorry about your Mom, Lynn. I hope she feels better soon.

Janice p.s. I am hoping to get a mohair bear cut out for you this weekend - wish me luck!
Wow, Edie, that's a lot of smiles going around! Amazing! I'm with Bobbie, though, bookkeeping is not my forte (though that was my "real job" back in the day!!!). I don't have any idea how many bears I've made in the 13 + years I've been a bear maker but I can bet that it's nowhere near 5,000!
Please don't quit, Edie, your bears are so sweet and we all would miss them!
Hugs,
Janice
So people who do not live in So. Africa are also allowed to post their bears? I definitely will follow!
Hugs,
Janice
They are both gorgeous, Lisa!
