Hi All,
Last month my newsagent told me the next issue of Australian Bear Creations was due out on 11th April it is now the 23rd and still no sign, I asked them and all they could tell me was that they have deliveries every Monday,Wednesday and Friday I checked today (Monday ) and nothing and as Wednesday is a public holiday here in OZ I will have to wait til Friday.
Does anyone know what's going on????
Hi All,
I have just unpicked my nose twice ( sorry, bad joke ) I did a vertical nose on a bear, undid it, tried again, undid it again the tried a horizontal nose..... Worked first time.
For some reason I am better at horizontal noses than vertical ones, maybe it's something to do with the "bump" on the nose but I find the horizontal nose much easier.
Does this make sense to anyone? Am I weird or just plain lucky????? Lol
I love her, great face.
No, that's a real duckling, surely.
She is lovely, great job.
O.K all, listen up, I want to talk about the not so glamorous part of bear making....... The state of my fingers!!!!!!!
They are cover in cuts and flakey white with dryness.
What do YOU do? Do you wear a thimble or a you constantly applying hand cream?????
HELP.
Jenny, I have just learnt to take things slow and enjoy the making process rather that being in a hurry to see the end result.
I know things are easier when you know the right techniques but I think the enjoyment of making the bears has a lot to do with having the right tools, up till now I have hated stuffing my bears but yesterday I used a stuffing tool for the first time and really enjoyed doing it, I was amazed how much stuffing I could get in one small arm and proud of the fact that my sewing held up to all that pushing and grunting, and I was sooooo please with the results, my first firm, professional looking limb.
I am going to put him all together today but I am sitting here writing this to put it off as I don't really want to finish him and end all the fun.
Oh well I suppose it's time to plan the next one. Lol
And I'm gonna start to do the mirror thing, thanks Joanne.
Cute, I love his colour.
Hi All,
I am just waxing a nose a the moment I have waxed it so that the threads can still be seen but it is a shiny nose.
Is the wax suppose to be so thickly applied that the stitches can't be see or is it just a matter of preference?????
Hi All,
I have just read and put my comment in the post "favourite piece of TB making equipment" I still concider myself as a newbie to bear making and speaking for myself and I am sure all newbies it is a very scary journey, SO I got to thinking and I want to put a question out there...
What advise would you give someone starting out and what tips and tools would you recommend to help make us newbies lives a little easier????
I am new to bear making so I am still getting my kit together.
My favorite thing is my Friskars so far, I haven't used my cotter pin turner yet and I have just bought a set of test eyes which I think will be a godsend when I use them.
I am sitting here stuffing a bear at the moment and am using a long stuffing claw for the first time so I think I now have a new favourite.
Love your colourful noses.

Hi All,
I am keen to make a bear with a wobbly neck and I have researched how to do it but I was wondering up to what size bears would these be suitable for? Also would it have to be a small headed bear?
Don't forget to try art supplies store for the Prismacolors too.
Look in the Library under shading there is lots of help there.
