Hey Guys & Gals...

     There is a little boy named Shane Bernier who lives a couple hours away from me in Lancaster Ontario.  When he was five years old, he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.  After some treatments, he was told that he had gone into remission, but they were continuing his treatments to make sure it didn't come back.  On June 6th, 2006 after 108 of the 130 necessary treatments, Shane and his family received some bad news...He had had a relapse, it was back.  His one wish is to receive as many birthday cards from as many people around the world as he can.  His goal is to get into the Guinness Book of World Records.  Currently he has received 125,000 cards from people all around the world, but this is still FAR below the number needed to make it into the Guinness Book.  His birthday is on May 30th and he will be turning eight years old.  If anyone can help, it would be GREATLY appreciated.

I haven't counted the bears in my collection lately, but it's gotta almost be 300 by now as it was 200 a couple years ago.  I have 13 Steiff Bears including mini's, club pieces and replicas.  I also have many artist bears : 11 from Cheryl Ross of Cherbears, 3 Winey Bears by Sally Winey, 2 Sleepy Hollow Bears by Anja McGowan, and one bear from Susan Lauhon, Susan Redstreake Geary, Deborah Stewart, Sue Ann Holcomb, Donna Lee Wilson and a few unknown artist bears.  I have manufactured bears from Deans of England, Grisly of Germany, Bear Essentials by Effanbee, MANY MANY from Boyd's (Plush, Mohair, Resin), Gund, Russ Berrie, and about 150-175 bears from TY's line of Beanie Babies, Attic Treasures, Classic.  I also have an OLD Wendy Boston Basil Brush Fox from the 1950's.  I have many others that I can't list due to time constrants as well...LoL

What lovely pieces Dilu....Hopefully one of them will win.  I voted for Alice!!!

     My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time.  Going through a situation like this a few months back with the death of my cousin (aged 21 and a mother of a 7 month old) I know what a difficult and trying time it can be, but I know that everyone's thoughts, prayers and hopeful messages really touched me and made me feel better.  We are all here for you at this time.

One saying that helped me through was this :

I hope you are feeling a little bit better now.  I sure can sympathize with you....I have has some terrible Friday the 13th's in the past.  Just hope for the best, and with luck, the worst part of your day will be put behind you!!!  I hope your little nephew is okay and that you are able to fix your car.  Nothing like a BAD day to really damper your spirit.  I'll pray that things get better for you...

Yeah...I have both a Facebook and a Myspace account.  I find facebook a valuable resource to keep in touch with old classmates that I don't often get a chance to see in person.  The correct address is www.facebook.com...

As someone new to bear making, I find that I will start a bear, but then other stuff gets in the way and it end up taking a few days to get the bear completely made.  I currently have 5 bears in different stages...cut, sewn but needs limbs attached, finished but face not done, etc.

I have only ever used my Paypal to buy items online, never to sell, but I can tell you that I have never had a problem with Paypal, and I find it soooo convenient and safe to use.  I am always afraid of giving sellers and online shops my actual credit card number, so this eases the worry wart inside of me...

Congrats on the interview Daphne...I'm sure you did just swell!!!  I can't wait for the mohair mimzy's to be released, I'm gonna order an autographd one from ya for sure.  So much happening for you in such a short time.  You must be thrilled and completely exhausted at the same time.

    Welcome back to the teddy bear world!  He is a cute little bear.  Doesn't seem like it has actually been three months....That seems like an insane amount of time looking back.  GREAT to have you back on here.  Looking forward to seeing some new bears from you.  Hopefully a few of the big ones, like I PM'd you about back in November.

     I just received a full yard of 1/4 inch straight dense Schulte alfonzo mohair in the mail, and I am frrling inspired to make a bear that has a distinct early Steiff feel/look to it.  Does anyone know of any artists that have patterns aailable that may be close to what I am looking for?

   Unfortunately, I know TOO well about the shipping delays you are talking about.  I have a cd coming from the states that shipped out on Jan. 30th that I still haven't received, as well as some mohair that I ordered Feb. 3rd that has yet to arrive.  It's pretty sad, considering I order cd's all the time from an online retailer that ships from Hong Kong and I always get the product within 7 days MAX. Therfore, one might assume that there is some kind of delay that occurs only with shipping between the US & Canada.
