Thanks so much...pleased he found a new home so quickly!
Well these hair-do bears have been very popular for me over the years...and I haven't done one for ages, she was a special request . I think it's the anthropomorphic features which appeal to some collectors . Lets face it a proper teddy wouldn't be seen dead in a frock really would they?
But hey I get what you are saying Peter....this style isn't for everyone and yet some think its the best thing ever. Me l don't mind either way ...it's just another expression of what I like to do...and that is to make striking characterful bears. Some with hair...some without. Personally I like the ones without hairdos best...but I have room in my heart for all of them!
I used to do these hair-do bears quite a bit. They are a bit of a signature look....however I don't do so many girls these days. Maybe that should change!
This is my first girl bear for ages. It's kind of naturally where I gravitate to but end up trying not to make many because I don't want to make too many....
But anyway...here's MaryLou...she's a 15 inch girl...I made her dress too....
Very beautiful
Lovely bear
Very clever!!!!!
So pretty....and clever too...
Very good!
I have done lots of makeovers in my time....Even recently. I don't get it right every time....does anyone?
When you say starburst eyes...do you mean the ones with glitter ?
If so you know you can add a bit of glitter to nail polish and just paint the eye with that. I just use a needle to scratch the back after the polish is dry then paint it black all over the back ..that makes it look realistic
I thought Paula Carter had posted photos on here of how to do it.....
Just stunning work...really lovely and very original!
I have a bear room with great work tops and shelves...a hanging area that is for fabrics..a rack for cottons..and two sewing machine stations..along with a nice filing cabinet for my patterns .....do I ever use it...not on your nelly. I sit downstairs with the dogs parked either side of my chair....I cart the sewing machine downstairs too and it's on the dining table along with a pile of fabric. I have big box of ribbons in the living room...three boxes of tools on a table by the side of my chair..and a sewing box rammed with all kinds of bits and pieces...all my jointing things are hidden away in a drawer in the living room. All this so I don't have to go and work in my lonely turret.
I always planned to work there but the first day I did the dogs wanted to come too..and as the aren't allowed up stairs I decamped downstairs and have never worked there since. My workroom is a great workspace but I have never used it....not even once!
I use Finca Perle no 12 or 16 but I also use crochet and tatting threads ...one I use for small bears is Lizbeth and it comes in size 30 and 40 which is very fine but is excellent for tiny noses.
I get mine from either Roseground in the UK or Biggins Lace ...
Thanks Denise...!
Absolutely stunning ....
Haha..I eat on the go and sleep from about 10 pm till about 5.30..then start all over again!
Aw...thanks so much!
Oh ok...then I need to go through Bears'n'buds.....that's useful to know. As I am in the UK that would stop me going directly to him
Thanks for the info...I am ever so grateful!
Does he do PayPal....if he doesn't I will do the Bears'n'buds one....
Ok. That's interesting. It's $20 on Bears'n'Buds
Oh I am busy busy busy. I never stop. I make it look like I am fast at making them but I am not. I make 2 per week. To do it I work an 80 hour week... Every week.
Thanks so much. I don't do dressed bears often and when I do I always think I should do more!!!
