Hey Christine great to see you posting again and with such a great story. I have my own idea how about a palace for bears that are guaranteed a cuddle every day while their owners are away? Well we can't alwaystakeall of our hugs away on holidays with us and what better than a bear hotel with honey laid on thick and cuddles on demand?
I have tried it (by accident)! ((That's a whole other story)) it does work but better with a thicker, longer mohair and no matter what it will always be felt (the extra seam)! I did the top and bottom of the legs seperately.
One bent and one straight?
Hi!
Id just make a pirate and put a patch over one eye!! then u just have to do one!

Must be the way us Aussies think! I have made many a bear with one eye and either put a patch on the other or aged the bear and given it a button or couple of stitches instead - I started doind this after a lot of my bear eyes went the way of the socks!!
It is my Godson's 21 st birthday so I made him this bear wearing one of the outfits that Phil wore when he was 5 days old. Quite a challenge as I do not make big bears!
Happy Birthday and enjoy your subscription. Clare

Beautiful!
I am about to embark on a 22inch bear for my Godson for his 21st. The idea is that I will give him a photo of himself at 5 days old wearing a particular outfit. Then I make the bear and dress it in the same outfit thing is I need to know how to 'widen' the shoulder area so that the shirt fits well (altering the shirt is the easy way out but I really don't want to do that for sentimental reasons) I don't want the bear to endup looking like a quarterback either. I want the bear to look like a bear with a shirt on. Hope this makes sense! By the way my usual bears are under 6 inches so this is a daunting prospect! May even have to resort to the sewing machine aaarrgghh!!
I have also found that so long as you don't go through to the backing a blunt razor blade works well. Even one of the brushes that you would use in a mohair to brush the fur will help pill and age felt. I agree with Daphne too use it around the house for dusting, polishing etc and it will age naturally and quickly. even use the same chemicals on it that you use for cleaning around the house but make sure it is well washed afterwards!
I have also made a bear using 4 pieces being 2 x sides, one front muzzle and the back of the head - the trick is to shape the back piece well or it can look a bit flat at the back of the head.
can we expect news of a REAL Henley on Todd regatta?????
Sounds good but that is 9 months away yet and already the river is back to a trickle!
We went exploring today - the river which is normally a dry sandy bed is a raging torrent. We went several places to check out the rain - in one area the major highway had water over it for almost a kilometre and it was around 700mm deep. Traffic was banked up both sides and a cricket match was taking place in the middle of the highway! Then we went to our favourite claypan to see haw it had fared and got totally, hopelessly bogged. Thank heavens for friends and snatch straps!

I'm being cruel again but I know you will rise to the challenge!
In the Alice! We have just had more than last year's total rainfall in the last 24 hours and it is wonderful. People are smiling at each other and no gloom although the day itself looks gloomy! Hurray for rain!
OK Santa kindly gave in to my request for a kindle book reader for Christmas and I must say it is the number one thing in my life now (sorry dh)! Trouble is I am spending all my time reading and haven't touched a piece of mohair since Christmas day. It truly is such a fantastic thing - I love love love it! However, my Godson's 21st is rapidly approaching and I need to have a bear made by then so.......... nope can't put it down!
I have got a pattern for a tool wrapper which is kind of like one of those jewellery wraps that has a multitude of pockets in it for things like nose floss, needles, scissors, stuffing tools , artery forceps etc. I bought the pattern thinking what a handy thing it was but I am absolutely useless when it comes to using a machine and reading a sewing pattern so it was never made, I need a fairy to make it for me! If you are interested in it drop me an email and see what we can come up with!
