I bought a doll once, and when it arrived, it was packed with purple tissue around her head! :o
Now she has a port-wine stain on her cheek.:/
oh! I had to switch planes???
Daphne, Danni and I (there may have been others) had a GREAT time in New England (man they really can party - karaoke is BIG!) but we arrived at Sue Anns just in time to catch a glimpe of Shelli's dance. Here's what we saw!
My Mom and Dad were in San Luis Obispo last night and were driving down highway 1 to San Diego when they heard the warning. They called me to tell me about it, but I didn't answer.. (i was watching a movie) so she thought she'd let me sleep 'cuz if the tsunami hit L.A., I'd die in my sleep! My Mom is too crazy.
I had a bear that didn't sell, so I changed the ribbon and it sold right away! Sometimes, my taste is not the buyers taste!
Sam is pretty bonded to me. :)In college I had to leave him with my parents while I lived in the dorms for a year. He plucked out all his feathers. He has recovered of course, but he likes attention. I do leave him for 2-3 days for weekend trips (just fill up several food bowls) He really likes to be out with me, and might scream if ignored completely!
Oh..great! I must have gone to New England! I'm always the one who gets lost!
Rita -I have a Congo too!
His name is Samson, 'cuz he soo strong, oh yes he's a big tough bird! :D
He also talks and is potty trained. Definitely a must so I can hold him without getting a green spot on my leg or shoulder! Unfortunately he watches too much TV and will scream "HELP" really loud. We live in close quarters with our neighbors, so I'm afraid they'll call 911!
For the most part I make the head and attach it to the body. Usung the body as a handle, I can squeeze it between my knees and have both hand free. :)I also like having the body attached when finishing the face, it gives me a better idea of proportions. I guess its pretty much like Daphne, but mine is with the cats sitting on my lap. So I have to sew carefully, not catching any cat in my stitches!

at te bottom, only a little left!
Winney - that strang aura is my hubby/photographer. I think I am in the backgrounsd also (i'm probably on the computer chatting with you all)
I was a Vet Tech for a while. You don't really need any formal training, most places will train you. It was hard to put down animals. Sometimes we'd all cry, but it was really tough when the Doc would break down. Most times you feel good about stitching up the kitty that got stuck in the garage door... Or removing a tumor from a dogs belly, and sometimes it was giving a cat a good bath and shaving it down to remove all the matted hair. Alot of the techs adopted the unwanted animals or nursed the sicks ones back to health. I went to UC Davis as an animal major, and was going to go to Vet school, but got married and became a teacher instead!:)
I think the hairless ones are called sphinx (very Egyptian looking)
My boy cat is currently on my lap "helping" me type! He is facsinated with the sewing machine!
I'm really not one to talk. Working on a bear is such a delight, but it takes so much to get it all out, work on it, clean up, pack it all up so the cats don't destroy it, sometimes, I can go weeks without finishing a bear. I really need to finish several bears but talk too much on the phone, in person and online!!
Thanks Hayley. I really like yours.. did you do it?
You're SOOOO funny Sue Ann, way over in Texas.....
I didn't feel it I was sleeping, but my hubby did feel it. Said it wasn't much, but the bed was kinda rolling.. :/
So I might have felt, but thought it was him or the cats moving on the bed!!
Or... stop posting online so much and make/sell more bears!!
Just in case you really wanted to know if there were hairless cats...:P

Nanc - I use Jasc psp 9.0, I bought it on ebay for $50. You can try the free trial online for 30 days to see if you like it. I made my avatar and Penny's with it. I believe Daphne also uses Jasc. Shelli uses Adobe Photoshop. There is a cheaper/simpler version called Adobe Elements. Hope that helps.
The later in the year the better for me... I don't make many bears until summer hits. I can't get the energy to finish bears when I'm grading papers or tutoring rugrats! :P
I have family in Leander, I would be able to visit them also!
Penny - You're right on with bugs bunny!
Hey, Thanks for your sweet thoughts and stories!
Not many people know we are trying to have a baby (and finding it not so easy), but this bear family is so special to me. You girls are a great support system.;)
We've only been seeing a specialist for 6 months and this surgery was to eliminate anything else which may be interferring. I trust solely in God for a child and patience is not my strong points either. I know He has a plan, BUT I sure wish I knew what it was! :P
Daphne, I will keep you in my prayers. Its amazing how hard it can be to get pregnant while some people can look at each other and practically get pregnant!
We have definitely thought about adoption, hubby is great with the idea. There are some good Christian adoption places in the US and in China and Russia.
Great big bear Hugs! XOXO
Dilu - What kind of bird do you have? I have an African Grey and your's sounds intelligent like mine.
