For artists and collectors sponsored by Intercal...your mohair supplier and Johnna's Mohair Store
I personally don't use tush tags 1) I can't remember to sew in a tail, let alone a tag each time 2) takes away the softness of the bear hug to have a tag.
I use a hang tag and keep records. Do you all sign your hang tags?
Sue Anne- Are Sugar and Beezley center seamed? And may I ask about their noses... Are they thread that's been waxed? They are so shiny and look like jelly beans, I wanna eat them up!
Does everyone use a tush tag or sign your bears??
Maybe Tijuana sells cheap mohair? Hey, I take a girl's weeks end each summer, one more wouldn't hurt!
I'm all for it! Anyone else willing??
Actually, my hubby and I want to start a family (not the bear or pet kind) and its been a struggle. So after a lot of prayer, we decided to see a specialist and found that I had a growth on my ovaries. So last week they went in and removed it.
3 incisions and a soar bloated belly later, I am apparently all clean out! Hopefully I will have a pregnant belly next year to use as a shelf as I sew my bears!
Oh, Shelli, you were joking? I would never had guessed!:D (psst.. I knew.....);)
Shoot, if its Mexico, I live the closest....
We can rent an island in fiji for $1000 each! My Dad goes on surf trips were they rent a whole (tiny) island for a week!
I'm with Laura and Judi on the machine and hand-sewing combo. I find that the head needs the personal hand-touch to bring it to life, but the rest can look great with machine stitches.
Shel, my house is too tiny and really not that much fun! The cats party all night, but we humans are kinda low key!
I'm thinking maybe a Jamacian Cruise? Or a villa in mexico? Ya man!
I'd bring a teddy for a secret teddy swap (like a white elephant gift at christmas parties) but I'm NOT making bears! (no way am I lugging my supplies onto an airplane!)
Of course Penny, :)
I just need some info from you. Send me what you want it to say and your pic and I'll get righton it!

Doing the body, arms, and legs on the machine and jointing it is very instant gratification! I feel like the bear is almost done! But then the head is a labor of love and I relish the whole process.
Its not school vacation for ME! I have 2 more weeks to teach. That's why.."night night" at 10:26 :P
I also had surgery last week and am still worn out...
I do the whole body first and arms and legs. I'll even joint them. Then I do the head. I can then visualize the whole bear. I think finishing the head drives the bear. I tried head first on my last bear. well, I did the whole head and them lost "steam" and the head is still waiting for a body!
I was re-reading my posts, and I wanted to clarify.:|
I love the avatars Shelli makes and you are lucky to have one made by her. I would also be willing to help others. I personally like to learn how to do something, and am glad you ladies are interested in the programs available.
I'm afraid I sounded kinda pushy about my progam I use vs. Shelli's, but its not personal. We are both familar with different programs. Sounds like both are $100 or under. I use waht I use because I tried a free trail and it made sense to me, so I use that program. (if my hubby surprised me with photoshop, I might use that program :P)
For a hang tag, I use my business card. I designed my card so I can fold it and write on the inside. I bought 250 for less than $20. You can design them online and they send them to you in a week or so.
Shelli - you are so kind to make these for people. I've tried photoshop and its TOO good and extensive, elementa is much more my level!
Rita and others that want their own avatars, and want to make their own some day.
I would recommend trying the trial version of a program first.
Here's the free trial for the program I use

And if SHelli is TOO busy making award winning bears, I'd also be willing to make you a avatar or help others make a avatar
night night
Okay! I am a tangent queen in my house, but everytime I read this thread I remembered the fray-check and sharpie issue and couldn't remmeber to post! SO... I am really glad to no how to remove sharpie. I have a bear waiting to be made with aweful black runny marker marks!
YES< Shelli...I was refering to Steve's Crock-speak! But I still think he is rather cute.
Judi, I am crying here!! I thought Crock was something differnt, without the "r".
What a doubletake! I need to slow down on the beer tonight! (I need to get lots of sleep, and I not tired, yet) Actually, lots of comments are making me cry from you ladies!
Who started the "wonky" kind of talk?? I am actually thinking about words like that while I'm teaching! Get out of my head you crazy ladies!
If it's haunted, it will get more on ebay!:P
Maybe, my next bear will "happen" to be haunted!:)
So when are we having our International Teddy Tea Party!?!? I would SO invest in a trip to meet up with you all!:)
I like the name! George is just...perfect!
Penny you have the naming knack!
and tibetan lamb is so beautiful looking!

I use Jasc Paint Shop Pro. Cost me $50 on ebay.
I do a little more than this to send my stuff, but a simple piece of decorative tissue paper and a little note card (or business card with a note) makes it more personalized.
Yep, I get the zits too! I teach middle schoolers, and sometimes I swear it rubs off. Every month I break out and when its all under control, a new month begins!
Okay, back ON topic...:P
Another problem with sharpies, if you use fray check on any part that has sharpie, it RUNS. Sharpie is waterproof, not fraycheck-proof! Don't ask me how I know.
Now I do Love the microns. LOVE them! Great for touching up a spot.
I have NO idea how I put on my bear's face!?!? All I know is that I use test eyes to know hwere my eyes are going to be, I do everything else, and I always do eyes LAST! That's all I really know, eyes last.
