Our Dr's are beyond pitiful tho 
they have no clue seriously. 9 years ago my brother had an absess in his chest wall cavity, pneumonia, septecemia. a hard lung and a broken rib & collar bone and what did our Dr's say he had when we called them out?? a BRUISE !! can you believe that ??.. he died 9 weeks later aged 25 so i really do not trust or like my dr's at all and i really detest going there and i have no faith in them :(
15 years ago My Grandfather also had Cancer of the spine, the leg and the prostate. our dr's (same ones as my brother) said "nothing wrong with him, he is pulling the wool over your eyes" and he died too, i can't trust them with anything and urgh, i just find it SO hard going to the doctors :(
And the list of blunders goes on and on with our Dr's
GO TO THE DOCTORS !!!!

UKI'm in the UK Daphne, I avoid Dr's like the plague honestly unless im dying i wont go ! 
Bears-a-Bruin!Gosh Pipa, I can't blame you for not wanting to go to the dr.s given all the bad experiences you've had :(. But please don't let these tragedies colour your view of the entire profession. I often research whatever I'm visiting my GP about (usually sinus related in my case). This upsets some GP's but not others! But it makes me feel a little more in control of what's happening :).
UKI agree there Helena about checking things out before you got the GP my physiotherapist once told me that is a good thing to do even though Dr's dont like it, he once said to me "dont tell them you found information on the internet, they dont like it".. my bad experiences dont end with the GP they have been carried on through hospital after hospital Dr's aswell 
I could write a book that would shock and make people say "that cant possible be true" but it is and has made me the way i am now !
One time i went to my GP about a back problem and he simply sat there and said to my face "well what do you want me to do about it" so i answered back "you are the doctor. you tell me" and he said "if you dont like it the door is over there" and that is word for word, i really cannot visit these people and as much pain as i am in, i dont care i still wont go i'll take the pain LOL!
My Dentist on the other hand is a GEM! hehee so it's not all doom & gloom 
Bears-a-Bruin!Well, I understand your situation Pipa, and have become more wary as I get older (which is why I do the research, so I can ask a few informed questions....). My mum had various negative experiences with GP's in her life. One time in particular she was treated for an infection which turned out to be cancer. And another time I was told something by the doc that I knew was totally untrue! Perhaps I should have mentioned my biology degree 
. But the way I see it, doctors are human, and the vast majority really do want to help as best they can...sometimes we might have to push a little for the right treatment, or insist on what we believe is right (we know our own bodies best, afterall). I have a lovely GP at the moment, and I'm not afraid to ask or say anything - and she's open if she's not sure about something. That's the way it should be imo!
Glad to hear you've got a good dentist. Now that's a whole other story...

I strongly advise you to go to your local ER and get them to look at it - forget about the poor sods lying in pools of blood on the ER floor, they're probably just lager louts after a nights boozing anyway- that's what hospitals are for (although they do their level best in the UK to pretend that they're not).
I'm getting quite angry for you now Pipa - what an old Git your Dr. is! Would you like me to come around and give him a bunch of fives?
Remember - when it comes to doctors, YOU'RE the boss not them

UKoh my goodness about your mother that's dreadfull was she okay after the Cancer? did they catch it in time ?? !! yep they are human i try to make allowances for that but there is only so many deaths you can take in your family before your trust , faith and respect completely vanishes in them, BUT saying that i do belive our GP's are just INSANE or something and i always think "this time will be different" with each occasion. one day they might prove me right 
. my sister when she was 12. had appendicitis and they burst, the GP turned around and said to my Mam when My Mam said she suspected it was her appendix the GP said "she's not in enough pain to have appendicitis" sure enough gets her to the hospital they burst as they were removing them. makes you laugh !
It sounds like you have a wonderful GP. yep i think its great you can ask quetions and she is helpful and stuff. ours are the complete opposite!!

Mum was ok that time - yes, they caught it in time. She got fed up of the antibiotics and insisted on seeing a specialist, who made the diagnosis (she had a prior history of cancer too, so wouldn't you think that might have rung a few alarm bells?!). Geeze.
I'm with Penny. If your glands get really bad it might be better to take a trip to the A&E. I havemore faith in hospital doctor's myself, because they generally get more contact with a wider range of ailments. More 'hand's on', especially in A&E. I know you've had bad hospital experiences too, though... Unfortunately nothing's perfect! Just don't suffer for too long without doing something!
(As for dentist stories, nothing too bad to report - I just don't like 'em, . Eek!)

Oh yeah they defintley deserve a bunch of fives. many years ago now my mother threated to put him through the window once after yet another bad episode that landed her in hospital with blood pressure so low they couldnt read it
Actually one of them (there is more than one they are all hapless) one is due for retirement soon saying that tho. his replacement is the one that told me to get out if i didnt like what i was hearing haha ! ahhh. we've replaced one bad coin with another . EEK!
Our Local ER department is too far away to get too i took my brother there once and they said "if you keep coming here all you will get is MRSA" seriously. i said "he's only been here once. 28 years ago when he was born. oh boy did that Dr get a rollocking from me that day, i took her out the room to one side and CALMLY put her in her place, that felt good! might have to try that with our GP :twisted:

Well you could always revert back to the method my ole mother used to use on me as a kid. a piece of toilet roll wrapped around the tooth and a sharp tug got my wobbly teeth out and didn't cost a penny .. oh apart from the scrap of toilet roll which is nowhere near 20,000 :P
a porsche ? WOW! My Dentist looks like he just got out of short trousers, kindly informed me that he goes camping (looks like he just crawled out of his tent on some occasions), his hair is like a flyaway birds nest and he surfs but he's a star ! one of the best dentists i've ever had. a bit nervous tho. he took an xray of my teeth once and bashed the small plastic thing they shove in your mouth into my gums with his knee. he did apologise tho so that's one up on Dr.s !
Oh dear. i do hope we dont have any lawyers.estate agents. Dr's or dentists in the group :redface:

A true Hollywood smile but it turns out that it would actually be cheaper to fly to Hollywood, stay in a hotel and get the work done there than it would be to have it done here; so i'm considering that option.
I'm not vain you know, i had a car accident when i was young and my teeth took a bashing and now strange bone formations are beginning to develop and need treating - my dentist just was'nt interested - as long as your mouth is'nt about to explode with plaque most dentists don't give a damn to be honest or there would still be loads of NHS dentists i suppose.
I went to a private clinic for an estimate - i did'nt realise that i could buy a 3 bedroom house in Romania for the cost of a mouthful teeth! Oh Well you learn something new everyday

UK Oh Penny !! get yourself booked into an NHS dental hospital.. mind you. in those places it's more like a torture chamber than a dental examination room, you also end up getting fobbed off with the students using your gums to further thier knwoledge which is a bit scary ,
20,000 my goodness i would have fainted on the floor. my GP offers botox for £400 a go
1 experience i had with a dental hospital (yep here comes another one hehe) I was laying in my chair with this dentist telling me i ate too much steak (which i answerd with a laugh and informed him i couldnt afford to buy steak) Hmm, anyways in walked a group of 6 students all having a good peek and pointing at my xrays going ooo and ahhh and then one of them went "oh what's that?" and pointed to something on the xray and the dentist hushed her and said "thats nothing".. i never did find out what that student saw.. maybe it was nothing
As for my dribble :redface: it's great now. whatever was blocking it must've passed :dance: now i can continue drooling over chocolate again :cake: (thanks for the cake smiley whoever made it)

Oh Pipa you poor girl you...hey! what about a large glass of good red wine, not food but it might numb the pain :pray: it's not funny I suffer greatly with blocked sinus and i walk into doors ( or am I drunk ) LOL anyway it's not funny it makes me feel sick and dizy and it drives me up the wall! only ever had it when I moved from Kent which is very dry to a very wet N Ireland..poor doggy has he been out for a walk or is he sitting with his legs crossed?
