Subject: dance in the rain

This is so good, we should all be so fortunate!

Have an awesome day.

How to Dance in the Rain

It was a busy morning, about 8:30, when an elderly

gentleman in his 80's arrived to have stitches

removed from his thumb.  He said he was in a hurry

as he had an appointment at 9:00 am.

I took his vital signs and had him take a seat,

knowing it would be over an hour before someone

would to able to see him.  I saw him looking at his

watch and decided, since I was not busy with another

patient, I would evaluate his wound.  On exam, it

was well healed, so I talked to one of the doctors,

got the needed supplies to remove his sutures and

redress his wound.

While taking care of his wound, I asked him if he

had another doctor's appointme nt this morning, as he

was in such a hurry.

The gentleman told me no, that he needed to go to

the nursing home to eat breakfast with his wife.  I

inquired as to her health.

He told me that she had been there for a while and

that she was a victim of Alzheimer's Disease.

As we talked, I asked if she would be upset if he

was a bit late.

He replied that she no longer knew who he was, that

she had not recognized him in five years now.

I was surprised, and asked him, 'And you still go

every morning, even though she doesn't know who you

are?'

He smiled as he patted my hand and said,

'She doesn't know me, but I still know who she is.'

I had to hold back tears as he left, I had goose

bumps on my arm, and thought,

'That is the kind of love I want in my life.'

True love is neither physical, nor romantic.

True love is an acceptance of all that is, has been,

will be, and will not be.

With all the jokes and fun that are in e-mails,

sometimes there is one that comes along that has an

important message.  This one I thought I could share

with you.

The happiest people don't necessarily have the best

of everything; they just make the best of everything

they have.

I hope you share this with someone you care about.

I just did.

'Life isn't about how to survive the storm,

but how to dance in the rain.'

"Bloom where you are planted."

How sweet a story.  It reminds me of my parents.  They're not suffering from Alzheimer's but they love each other that much.

Yes ... it would be wonderful to be loved by a man that much, All I have ever known is domination and the reality that they want to destroy you in what ever way they can, not sure if I could even trust that kind of love now, I wouldn't believe it. But I guess that would be my loss,,,,but too afraid to try again. Sorry....... It  really was a beaurtifl story and it touched my heart ...thats why I shared it. Three is real love out there  bear_grin

My Great grandparents were married for 69 years when he passed away. My great grandmother had alzheimers and didn't know he was gone. He cared  for her at home til  just the month before he passed. He was 91. My grandmother didn't know anyone the last five years of her life. I took my babies to see her anyway. The only word she could say in the end was baby and I let her hold them. Not suprising she could remember babies she had 13 of them. She lived to 91 years old and never saw a nursing home, Her daughters took care of her.
These to people shared that kind of love. Amazing!

Reminds me of my mum & dad too...nearly 60 years of marriage and still like two peas in a pod, they live for each other, just two beautiful people..

Jodi,
you have had such a tough time, I pray you will eventually find a man who will love you that much,  thanks for posting this lovely story, it's beautiful but also a little sad, ..

Jodi: the story was touching but your write about reality. Sometimes relationships are difficult and not healthy. Your fear of trying again is natural. The point is, if you should find somebody, make sure you aren't repeating the pattern with the type of man you use to get involved with.

If you decide you aren't going to find another man that is fine. Lead a happy life by having friends and family with you. Add great hobbies to round it out. I know spirituality is important to you so that is wonderful.  Never look back and live happy.
