For artists and collectors sponsored by Intercal...your mohair supplier and Johnna's Mohair Store
I was born in Leeds UK at home. I have always loved teddy bears. I get my sewing skills from my Grand mother who worked as a seamstress in a bridal gown shop in Leeds, making wedding dresses. My grand mother made clothes for my sister and me. Sadly my Gran died before I started bear making.
I started designing mohair bears in the beginning of 1997 previously I made plush bears, toys and childrens clothing before making mohair bears to sell.
I am married to Leigh. We have three daughters. We live in Farsley overlooking countryside and farmland it is very peaceful.
Bear making and designing is my full time occupation, I have a small fourth bedroom with my pc, sewing machines, mohair and boxes of material where I keep all my bear goodies I do most of my sewing by hand down stairs in the lounge. I have one of those big captains wooden trunks full of my bear making thing in the there, so when I finish for the day I can in theory put it all tidily away.
I make exclusive bears for collectors, I also stock a few shops with my bears.
I enjoy making realistic bears and polar bears with double neck joints these bears can be posed to look real, also pandas in various non-panda colours. I have made open mouth bears with moulded nose, mouth, tongue and teeth unusual bears. My favourite bears are the rainbow dyed bears.
I mainly sell in the UK on the web or at fairs and mail order although I have sold bears to the USA, Canada, Belgium, France, Italy, Switzerland, Australia and Japan, through my web site.
I enjoy meeting the bear collectors and hearing about their bears. I enjoy attending fairs. Meeting the other bear artists I have made many friends over the years.
I love your story. My Grand Mother was also wonderful seamstress and I remember all dresses she made for me and my Mom. My Grand Mother died of cancer 11 years ago and so sad she didn't see all my bears I've made. Still, I hope she knows what I'm doing cause everybody says I'm just like her. Knitting, beading, sewing, etc.
Your bears unique and so much character. :)I do love unusual bears myself and yours are just adorable.
And your story sounds very jeoulousy. I just to plan one central gift shoppe with my bears.
Hugs, Julia.

Hi Kerren!
Welcome here :)
My grandma makes clothes for me, my sister and my brother! She was great in a lot of needlework!
I`ll never forget all the things she had learned me and my sister. She died at the age of 87 a few years ago, so she had never could seen one of my bears...
