When I used to live in Zurich in the early 90's I fell in love with the magazine VOGUE BAMBINI.  It features beautiful children's clothing that's incredibly creative and colorful, and the layout of the magazine and it's advertisements are just gorgeous.  It's a whopping load of eye candy and so inspiring!

I have a few issues on hand I've managed to gather over the years and I consult them from time to time for inspiration, especially when I'm looking for textile ideas.  I'd like to have more issues because BAMBINI is one of those magazines you keep on file for an eternity, they're so pretty... but it's increasingly difficult to find this magazine for anything approaching a reasonable price, and even when it does appear somewhere like eBay, the options are really limited, esp. given that it's a magazine that's issued monthly!  Right now on eBay there's a copy priced at over $50.  Even though it was never a CHEAP magazine, esp. since I always bought it outside of Italy, it wasn't $50 -- plus shipping!

It doesn't appear possible to subscribe from the US, although you can from Australia -- lucky Aussies!  Even Amazon.com rates the subscription as "unavailable."

Anyway, my question is... Does anyone out there, probably in Europe somewhere, have access to VOGUE BAMBINI at a local newsstand?  Would you be willing to buy me a copy/copies and then mail them to me?  I have PayPal and can pay immediately or even beforehand for your help.

Please let me know here or via PM if this is a favor you might be willing to help with.  Thanks so much!

bear_sad  I tried to send them an enquiry three times, Richy, but their system won't recognize my email addresses -- any of them! -- as valid.  Thanks for the suggestion, though.

That's the kind of thing I keep seeing for VOGUE BAMBINI; websites like the one you recommended that are clearly not for the individual subscription seeker, but more geared toward wholesale outlets/shops that will order in bulk.

Aargh!

Hi Shelli,

Thats one hard-to-get-magazine  bear_wacko  bear_grin I Googled the magazine on google.dk and it came up with a couple of Danish companies that might have the magazine (one is called Trendstore - I think there is a good chance of getting it there  bear_grin )

Its late night in Denmark now but I will contact the companies tomorrow and see if it is possible to either buy single issues or make a subscription to a US-address and how much it will cost. I'll let you know tomorrow bear_original

Very expencive but cheaper as 50,- US for 1 copy.

Hey, thanks, Berta!  That looks like an actual, viable option!  And yes, an expensive one... but for anyone into the doll and bear thing and inspired easily by textiles and color combinations, it's worth it, as a resource.  They're not like a throwaway copy of PEOPLE or US; they're fat little suckers (usually) and even the advertisements are glorious.  Beautiful children -- living dolls themselves -- wearing the most gorgeous kid fashion you've ever seen.  We don't get to see a lot of European fashion here in the US; where it exists, it's in boutiques in the big cities like San Francisco.  Certainly we don't have anything like that in Chico.  And European kid fashion is sooooooooooo cute and fun and whimsical and creative.  Think OILILY.  I could go on and on about the eye candyness of it for an eternity... and almost have.

:)

Anyhoos... thanks again for the recommendation to that site.  I'll be paying them a visit!

HI Shelli,  would you believe I aw this darn magazine twice yesterday- at Borders and at what you guys would call a news stand- have you checked Borders?
I would gladly grab you one and send it but  I am not sure when I would be able to get back there, where I saw them is  an hour away- I think the postage would be frightening from here too.
I have a few copies of this magazine myself, like you said it's great for ideas, specially when you make dolls and sculpt little faces.  There's also a really good Australian one called Studio Bambini, I don't know if you have ever seen that one. It doesn't have the flash ads that  Vogue Bambibi has (Heheh imagine having the kind of money that you can dress your *kids* in Dior and Dolce and Gabbana!)

well, Shell

I had forgotten this mag from my life in Europe, so when I saw Lyn's link I was all set debit card in hand- its for the dolls, (isn't that the same as for the children?)

and at the bottom it said "International orders not accepted at this time."
sigh.....

so if you find  source let us all know....I use PatternReview to look at patterns modeled by gamin little elfin-like kiddikins. they have Burda and some international designers

http://sewing.patternreview.com/cgi-bin/Authenticate.pl

and you can in desperation buy the patterns-its not as good as the mag.  gosh

Thanks to everyone for your notes and help.  Ellen Borggreve has found me a current copy and I'm covered in the immediate future.  I'm still looking into the best way to subscribe; Berta's suggestion so far is my best lead but the problem with that one is that the "next issue" won't come until December 2008.  That's almost a year away!  And I am so not a patient girl.  My next step is to check with Conde Nast directly or maybe ask around at some less-local bookstores -- like the ones 2 hours away, where I drive my kids to their dad on a semi-weekly basis.

It's maybe the hardest publication I've ever tried to lock down.

Anyway, I'm really thrilled with everyone's help and send many thanks for all the great ideas and offers to purchase.  You guys are the best! bear_original

OH LYNN  honey not to worry....The internet has opened up the world to us all and we are a little spoiled
thinking we can get anything from anywhere.  In the long run aren't wqe lucky to have so much of the world at our fingertips?  It might be viable in NS just not Oregon.....Who knows?
