Hi

If you don't have excelsior to stuff/pack a teddy nose so that it holds its shape and can be embroidered easily without losing its shape, what do you use to stuff it with in its place?

Cheers and thanks!

I'm also a fan of sheep's wool for the face (and the whole head). It's great for holding a shape.

The only thing I have ever found that really works is wood-wool. I use a small ball of it in the nose then just stuff the head with poly fibre. I know it doesn't help you out when you can't get any. I find other fibres are hard to sew through neatly. You could try waxing your thread with a block of beeswax and then using a glovers needle ( leather one) I have done that on occasions and it does help till you get your woodwool.

I also use wool.  I tried woodwool, but I bought too coarse of a grade.  If you do find excelsior in the future, be sure to buy a fine grade.  I think there might be some more information in the "Library" about finding and storing it.
