Hi guys. You all made me feel so guilty so I decided to introduce us to you.

Yes this is the old guy, the love of my life and husband for 32 years this November. Garnet looks more like the bears than I do?

Thanks for sharing, Louise!! You and Garnet are great looking and I like Garnet's pal, too!!
Louise, Hello; and thankyou for sharing your lovely self and family with us. There is something of the sweetness of your bears faces in your own sweet countenance. Congratulations on 35 married years, no small feat these days.
I'm serious, you don't look old enoug to have been married for 32 years!! Congratulations!!
You look just as sweet as your bears do!
Hi Louise! Lovely to put a face to the name and a sweet face too! Garnet looks a laid back and contented guy as well as his doggie pal (what's his name?) Congratulations on the 32 years of marriage, you obviously chose the right guy for you Louise!
Jane (who's feeling very sorry for herself as she has a horrible cough, sore throat and feels grotty!)
Hi Louise and Garnet,

Dilu, Sue Ann, Laure, Dani, Jane and Rita. Thank you for the kind words. You all need a good old eye exam but thank you just the same. I now challenge anyone else who did not put their pic up(Dani!) to do so!
Rita..it's a good ol Canadian beer.
Hugs and kisses
Louise and Garnet
Oh and by the way the puppy is Sasha. She is 14 years old and one of our four pups. We have Michah a Dalmation who is 12 and Sydney a rotty who is 10 and Gypsy a rotty who is 3. All of them were pet of one or the other of our sons who decided to drop them off at Mom and Dads at one time or another. We love them dearly but have given the word...No more puppies to come home to Mom and Dad. Good thing we live on 13 acres. Also just hate the weight I have gained since the dredded menopause. At least 50 lbs. Hate that when that happens.
Hugs Louise
Louise - Lovely pics, what afull doggy house you have!
Dani - I agree. Time for a pic!:P
Yeah, Danni. What gives with THAT? You could always post a pic of your twin and we'd never know...!!
Louise, I love the "all man", feet up and everything, watching TV (?) with dog at his side, photo of Garnet! It made me smile.
I also noticed that your house is immaculately clean. More self-loathing for me there. My mom, whom I love with all my heart, is a bit OCD and her housecleaning was the primary form that OCD took during my childhood and adolescence, so I have a sorta "reaction formation" thing going on with housework. "Reaction formation" is basically when a person acts in ways that are not necessarily good for them (overeating, refusing to exercise, refusing to houseclean, refusing to get a job, etc.) as a reaction AGAINST something in hi/sher life that hurt him/her, or angered him/her, or in some way was awful for him/her.
So it's hard for me to get behind housecleaning in any meaningful way. And with three kids (boys) and three dogs and three cats and a snake and a crested gecko, all of which leave their bodily detritus and extreme messes behind each and every day for mom to clean, I just do not have the extra energy -- and NEVER have the interest or motivation -- to keep up. Aargh. So Louise, your photos put my housekeeping skills to shame!!!
Also, I LOVE your bangs! I have kooky, wavy hair, which (predictably) I've always wanted to be STRIAGHT. It's really curly in front of my ears (like forelocks!) and at my forehead, but not as curly elsewhere, so it never look squite "right" when I wear it all-natural. I'm one of those people who can wear bangs for about five minutes, after blow drying and straightening and torturing them into shape... and before they separate and pull apart into the wild cowlicks they want to be in the end.
As I get older, I would purely love to be able to wear sleek and glossy bangs to cover the increasing depth (and number) of my forehead wrinkles. Instead, I'm afraid it will have to be Botox for me, as my hair simply will not cooperate with this easy plan!
Loved your photos; you're a lovely couple and things look happy and relaxed in your home. Thanks so much for sharing!
Whoa, Shelli . . . did you grow up in my house?? My mom was a clean freak, also, and my house looks like a pig sty!! Annnndd, I have worn bangs all my life to hide a scar on my forehead that I obtained as a toddler. That is the reason all my bears have bangs . . . I have to wear them, so do my bears!!
Louise--
Your bears look more like Garnet, in general, but they have your eyes! Hey, I noticed the immaculate house too. Two clean rooms at the same time? That proves it. If pushed, I can manage one, mostly by hiding all the clutter in another.
Same here, Shelli and Sue Ann! Obsessively neat mother, slob of a daughter. I'm glad there's a term for it, which i shall consider an excuse. My mother never let a speck of dust settle. When I got my own place, I couldn't figure out what that white powdery stuff was!!
I've got to say, when I met my husband, he was very neat and well organized, thanks to British school training. It took years, but I've finally corrupted him.

This is great...Thank's for sharing with us Louise. 35 years ! What an accomplishment...love holds many things together. I love the big doggie, he looks so friendly , I love dogs..sometimes better than people. Garnet is a real cutie and so are you.... I have always had curly bangs..I mean all my life , your straight ones look especially good on you.
I sure do like the way Shelli explains what ODC is...now, I found out some of my behavior fits that to a T. and it even has a medical name to it.
Housekeeping , I like a clean house but try to get away with doing as little as possible or just do what is basically necessary. If I did everything that needed to be done, the house would get all the attention and nothing else ever would... and the house dosn't even appreciate it....who would care 10 years from now anyway ??? Huh ?
My mother and all of us were very much controlled by my Italian dictator step father's way of doing things..... in all ways. Of course they both worked and we had 7 kids in the family so some order is required but Not to such a perfection that militant rules are required....and in the end no one can do anything right ! He about drove us all crazy...my 2 brothers and I left home at a very young age just to get away from it.
Yes...I refuse to live in a spic and span house with a rigimented life because I am more comfortable that way...people are always more important than " things " to me... If I visit someone who has obviously strict rules on where you can sit , eat, breath,....my visit is remembered...I suffer from trauma....so I go home and make a mess to get well, he, he.
I choose to set myself freeeeeee !!! Yeah, make a mess and have fun, no one can make you clean it up !!! Yeah !!!
Yes...Winney has really gone bonkers this time...is that anything like wonky ? or Wonkers ?...Winney
Here's to "reaction formation" . . . hip, hip, hooray!!
I love it !...Winney
Hrm a photo of me? Nah, I don't think so !
Okay, I'll think about it
Winney, I think you have just described the difference between a house and a home. I like to think that when people come to my house, they feel comfortable. My mum was never a clean freak, but my best friends mum was, and I can still remember the stress I felt as an eight year old going to their house to play. We weren't allowed in the lounge, we had to eat our lunch outside so we didn't get crumbs on the floor....and nine times out of ten, my friend played at my house instead of vice versa so we could actually relax. She couldn't believe that I was allowed to drag all the cushions off the couch to make a cubby house...her mother would have freaked at having the lounge look messy in case someone dropped in!
I want to get to the end of my life and have more to show for it than just a tidy house.....it's just so unsatisfying! You can spend all day cleaning and the next day its right back where it was. I have three kids too, and I feel I cark at them enough without having to be on their back all the time about keeping the house spotless.....I'd be fighting a losing battle anyway! I would love to have a tidy house...I always feel guilty bearmaking if the house is untidy (which is 99% of the time!)...but if I waited until the work was done before allowing myself 'ME' time...I'd never get any. I figure as long as the dishes are done and everyone has clean clothes to wear, the rest doesn't matter that much anyway. Of course there's always a mad clean up if someone is coming to visit! I remember last year, I volunteered to have an extended family birthday here(must have needed my head read!). I ended up having a completely frantic week in the leadup and by the day before, I still hadn't had a chance to clean up. So Chris (hubby) suggested we take the stress away...and just pile all the mess in our bedroom and shut the door. So we did....and in the last half hour before everyone came, we were literally shoving stuff inside my room ...cupboards...everywhere. The house looked lovely..and I was quite house proud. No-one would know that this isn't how it always looks!!:D All went beautifully...until....my cousin (who is very upper class and a little intimidating)asked would I mind if she just popped the baby on our bed for a sleep.:o I did feel the colour drain from my face, as I picture the bomb site that was my room....but seeing as though the kids bedrooms were full of kids playing...I had no choice but to agree. I have never been so embarrassed in my life...and to top things off...I hadn't had time to even make the bed that morning.:(
Oh, poor Hayley!! I can sooo relate!!! Sounds like something I would do
Me to a T
When my daughter was married 2 years ago, and decided to hold the reception at home (with caterers!!), we had a major campaign going. I repaired, refinished, cleaned, polished, replaced, gardened, etc. until I was completely dogged--and the wedding pix show it.
I thought I'd done a pretty good job, but daughters and groom's sister patted me on the head, sent me off for a nap, rolled up the rugs, moved the furniture, and cleared away ALL the clutter. I couldn't believe the difference. Naturally I took credit for everything when the guests told me what a "lovely" home I had!!
I still haven't found all my stuff
Eileen
I can't believe we are so much alike!! My house is a total mess until someone comes to visit and then hubby and I are like tornados trying to make it look presentable. I guess that's a little hypocritical, but I do want to hide the fact that I'm a slob of a housekeeper! I just CAN'T get rid of the clutter in my workroom, so we just shut that door. I thought I'd be better after retirement, but I'm actually WORSE!! At 64, guess I won't be changing much . . . my poor daughters will have a huge job getting rid of stuff when I depart this life!!
LOL...Haley, I use to do the same sort of thing. Sometimes we'd get very short notice that we were going to have company..like 1/2 hr...yikes ! I would run around and toss clutter into closets, drawers...anywhere it would fit or throw in into an empty box I had.. Wow, that sure cleaned up the mess instantly !
In fact that was such a good idea that later on ( I have 3 kids )if the kids did not have their stuff picked up within 30 min. after I announced it ...I would toss their item into a " confiscation box " which was then impounded for at least 3 days unless they made it a habit then 1 week.
Once we lived in a 3 story house ( counting the full basement) and I grew exhausted running up and down the stairs just to put an item away...It seemed like there was an awful amount of things that belonged up and things that belonged down,,,whew !
So... I bought 2 baskets ,one stayed at the top of the stairs and one at the bottom....Everyone knew what these baskets were for. Eventually they would fill up ....which means if you are going up stairs, take the basket on the bottom stairs with you....and deliver the items to each bedroom or bath. Same thing if you are going down...it worked ! Of course they all wanted to leave it for me to do but I was vigilant on observing just who was not being fair..... the chore rotated and I was the rotatee....Winney
That's a GREAT idea, Winney. We have 3 storeys plus basement, and I'm the one who usually hauls clutter. Right now I've got a table saw in my front hall, and I'm not moving that!
Still . . . I really have to admire te people who manage to keep their houses neat. They're not all compulsive, they've just got a secret that has yet to be revealed to me! :|
Eileen
If you only new the truth Girls!!! In all honesty I am a pig in a sty. Truely. I am ashamed of my housekeeping skills. My mother would roll over in her grave if she saw my home. Talk about OCD she had it to a tee. She used to iron my Dads shorts for Gods sake. I am not kidding all underwear was ironed. I am truely not a good house keeper you guys just caught me on a good day.
Hugs Louise
