bear.JPGHi all!

I just joined, trying to identify a bear that my wife had inherited some time ago.  It's a Hermann Original.  From the research I've done it's old, but I'm confused.  I've read that the humpback and longer snout indicate 1930s.  But the tag says Made in West Germany, between the fact that West Germany didn't exist until 1949 and the company Hermann Original didn't exist until 1953 I'm thrown off.  It's mohair and the feet are either felt or suede.  They eyes seem like glass and the nose is stitched.  All joints work well, it's about 11-12" tall.  Attached is a picture, hopefully someone can help me in the identification.

Thanks!

bear_happy I can't help you with his origins but he is a very handsome guy!  There are some really great used books on Alibris that have info on the older bears.  I have a good one at home that shows the Merrythoughts and Steiffs and Bings but I can't for the life of me think of the name of it.

Wish I could be of more help.
