I've been having great fun experimenting with different dyes on small pieces of Mohair.  I've used fruit drink powder, fabric dyes, tea and coffee and the results have been quite good.  I then washed all the pieces in my washing machine and I must say, I always thought Mohair was a delicate fabric but after what my Mohair has gone through, I've changed my mind and its really tough fabric.  All these small colourful pieces will not be wasted as I collect all my Mohair leftovers for a patchwork bear that I plan to make.  Hugs to everyone and enjoy your teddymaking.  Coraleen  bear_wub  bear_wub  bear_wub

I'm with you on that, Coraleen - mohair fabric (most of it) is incredibly tough.

Can't wait to see the patchwork bear!

You are right Coraleen, mohair is tough.  I would like to see your patchwork bear too.

I have a question,

Does the mohair hold onto the smell of what you coloured it with?

For a little while it does, but it goes away.

Thanks for answering my question :)

I bet a bear that smelled of tea would be lovely to hug   bear_wub

Thanks for all your nice comments.  I think the patchwork bear will take quite a while to make because of handsewing all the pieces together but it is fun to do.

The fruit drink powder mohairs smell nice and fruity but I have noticed the smell is getting less. Hugs  bear_flower
