Melissa, I use the smooth metal thingies for handpiecing (a quilt) after poking myself a really nice callus while sewing a 1, 140 piece scrap triangle quilt.  They work well - and come with several really sticky adhesive pads (yes, I too have lost a fingerprint or two) that can be used for several sessions of sewing before they need replacing.  It's better that a full thimble for my purposes and inexpensive to try.

Tweezers!  I never would have thought!  But this pink koala was an inspiration for me to cut out a 3" bear this evening and try to turn the small legs - I managed without wrecking it and it sure is cute.  Really up there on the "awwwww" meter.  Thanks Stephanie for the tweezer hint!

What a little sweetie!!  How on earth can you make something so small?  Isn't turning right side out impossible?  I am just a chicken when it comes to building small bears.  One day....
