Funny funny girl!

Anyone use these things at Edinburg Imports for patterns?  Sounds like you just trace your final patter on and cut out and WHALLLA ...

Are they thick?  Hold up as  well as laminated cardstock?

Doing the Happy Dance, Mohair is on its way..............

I just keep reading the title of this post and cracking up!  Too funny Tami.  Not laughing at you though ... it's so cool when that Intercal package arrives.  You think you're dancing now?

Do you ladies that trim your seams use a sewing machine or would someone that hand sews and pushes the mohair out as I go benefit from this too??

Test on a scrap piece and see!   bear_happy

Sharpie.... I used a sharpie and marked on my trimmers the 1/4 inch mark, well, just a titch under.  Yeah, I have to go over that line once in a while as it fades but it works like a charm.

Hmm ... so now I'm rethinking my basting idea.  Could save a whole lot of time.  Thanks Daphne.

Deb

I'm not sure if there's been a full moon or what this week, but I'll tell ya ... I'm glad the weekend is here!  I've done nothing at work this week except man the Stupid Question Hotline.  Good grief.  All the crazies are out, and I've put out more fires than I can count.

I kinda hope it's not just me, but then, wouldn't wish a week like this on anyone.

Thank Heaven for TT  ... a refuge!

I think Bonnie and Shantell are talking about making a mark on the trimmers.  I was talking about a mark on the pieces.  I know it's an extra step, but I'm gonna try the basting method first.  My stigmatism is so awful, I really think it's best I don't use the two eyes method.

... it's my understanding that, as Kelly said, most pattern makers explicitly forbid you to do ANYTHING that amounts to producing "income", that relates to that pattern.  So that would mean that you could NOT write such a bear off your income taxes... because there is financial gain for you in doing so.

You're probably right.  I was just trying to think of SOME way for Tami to get back some of her expenses.  Thankfully, sounds like she's only made one or two bears.

Deb

I'm working on a pattern where jammies will be actually loose fitting at the ankle and wrist.

Deb

That's on my list of things to try.  I was thinking of basting just ever so slightly 1/4" on the edges, and trimming to that, then whipping out the basting.  What did you use for a guide Shelli?

Deb

Intercal of course!  Check End Pieces and Bargain List.

Deb

A friend's hub forgot one year.  She invited a good friend to dinner with her at her hub's fav restaurant.  He hasn't forgotten since to my knowledge.

Congratulations Judi!  Wonderful article.  Recognition well deserved.

Thank you Jane for posting!

Soooo much talent, it's incredible.  Isn't it just too bad gals that the poor thing is so very homely?  HA ... she got it all!

Deb

Wonderful new product out called Biofreeze.  Fabulous.  I picked up a tube at the chiropractor's office.

I would be inclined to run those symptoms by your doc, especially having also done hair previously.  And yes, by all means use the spring-loaded scissors.

Deb

Anyone who knows the right answer, please jump in, because I am not 100% sure, BUT ...

Though she can't sell (shouldn't sell ... whatever) bears from anothers pattern, couldn't she donate them to a charity for an auction and write them off as a donation on her income tax?  She wouldn't have to advertise or write up anything ... it's just a hand-made mohair bear, right?

That might be a good solution for Tami ... if she's all out of nieces and nephews, etc., and is kosher to do.

Tami, VERY well done.  But you've gotta give it up here at TT; any secrets you can share, so others can try it too?  Books that were helpful?  Materials of special merit?

Yes ... how did ya do that nose.  Awesome.

Great job Tami.

Depending on how much head-room you need to get to your storage, you could move that storage area further left ...

That was my thinking too!  And we talked at length about it.  The big open space in the wall at the top of the stairs will be a door to storage behind the wall.  The space back there, is above the kitchen though, and there are canister lights that I didn't want to completely and permanently cover.  Still, the width of the remaining room for work is about 13 feet. I'll have to try to get back up there to measure.  The air is so bad up there with dust and insulation and all that it's kicked the ol' asthma and allergies into overdrive.  I can't tell where my cold leaves off and allergies and asthma start this time.  Maybe if I'd stay out of the attic I could figure it out.

Denise, what did you do to the sofa?

Deb

Yeah, it's coming, but I'm starting to get anxious.  And honestly people ... how DO carpenters work in such a mess?  I don't get it.  The guy who is doing this job, also helped with another addition we did, and we really like him a lot, but man ... he sure can make a mess.  I understand that's the nature of the "beast" though, and that's typical.
