Hi Pipa, glad your sister has some more medication for the wound - I tend to get poisoned wounds whenever I hav eahd to get stitches - so I feel for her - but oh how lucky she is to have you
Not forgetting the wonderful painting work you are doing - (oh how much is your hourly rate?? lol!!)
Anwyay hope the docs goes well for you and there is improvement on your own wrist - looking forward to seeing more furries in the future

Anne
Oh ladies - you are wonderful - so many ideas
- thank you so much
So
Eileen :
"Anne, it occurs to me that if you're thinking of a detachable tail, you could wire the little legs/ankles/feet so that the little bruin could point its toes."
Excellent silly enough it may seem I had forgotten that if the tail was to come off I would need pointing toes - Thankyou Eileen
Gail:
"don't think I have ever seen one with legs????"
Its an old tale (sorry no pun here) that mermaids can when they wish come on to land for a while - then they can have legs - usually sad love stories - then they return to the sea where they have their tail
Thanks Gail
Amanda - Thanks for vote for tail
Kim - Angelina Kim that is - never heard of this fibre before sounds great I will try and find a uk supplier
A bra - never considered that though I do have some small shell somewhere ;)
Thankyou Kim (angelina)
Terrie this bear is for a small boy of about 10 who when he saw a belly dancer and golfer I had made asked if he could have a merbear for christmas - when my friend said - what a mermaid - he responded -"Well if she can make a belly dancer and a golfer - why not a mermaid!! - oh the confidence of the young - but I promised my friend I would try - thanks Terrie
Kimmy - thank you!!
"My first thought would be to make a removable one... " - I still would like to try Thank you Kimmy
Winney:
"making her toes point is a good idea and there are lots of stretchy sparkle fabric out there to embellish .. altho it may be difficult to pull onto such a tiny bear" - Yes I was thinking a base of sparkly lycra for the tail - thank you Winney
Fran - oh thankyou your sisters mermaids are FANTASTIC - yes some wonderful ideas there - just do not know if I am clever enough
Thank you so much Fran
Well ladies I love you all - thank you so much for the help - I will post the bear when it is finished - even if it is not so good - just to see what you all think - thank you so much for your contributions
Anne
Hi
I wonder if anyone has any ideas to help me out for a special commission
I am about to start a mermaid bear - so I have this idea in my head and I want to make this little one a true mermaid who can have legs too but do you think that is silly ??
Should I just take the easier road and merge a bear torso etc with a flexible aquatic tail (shiny scaley of course)
Any thoughts would be most welcome - she is to be a miniature and I do have a setting in mind too
Awaiting suggestions
Anne
Thank you so much Danni and Tammy

Hello,
Guilty
It was me
I said that about my little Rowan who is on ebay this week - because - in another post - now I can't remember when  ( I have AAADD too it would seem - I just identified it with this thread  I did wonder what it was!!)
Anyway a while back I was admiring one of Kims soo soo wonderful bears and she said she sculpted mouths I should give it a try - so I got around to it with this little bear and I thought I should acknowledge where the original idea/suggestion came from - sorry to mislead
I just sort of took the concept and extrapolated it to the best of my ability - not so good but I will try again!!
I would love lessons but - I have not found any in print - with diagrams!!
So Deb and Kim and any others I am again so sorry if I caused wasted time searching for the lessons/tips - that I had implied
Sorry did not mean to waste anyones time :(

Hi Deb, Amanda, Sandi, Helena, Eileen - thank you for positive comments on this couple
Yes a lovely lady who commissioned the bears - she saw them today and was quite moved - then she took them around our student services offices to show all the girls there.
Helena - no the flowers are not real they are actually silk.
Eillen - I bet you are totally immersed in wedding plans and finishing arrangements - Woudl love to see pictures of the great day after January
My daughter has set a date for September next year so I am immersed in wedding related flowers - ribbon - favour design - bouquet design and so on........................
Dilu I still REALLY want to know what the First most important day is ......PLEASE

Anne
Shantell - I am sorry for your difficulties with your eyes - I am sure this has been only a little glitch in total recovery - keep well and happy!!

Anne
I have had success with sets but usually commission pieces - I do a fair amount of different types of wedding couples
I have posted a thread with a picture of a set just completed in Miniatures
Other sets - again usually commission are bear scenes for specific occassions eg I created a hairdressing vignette for someone to mark the opening of a new salon
The one set I tried on ebay - went to an existing collector but not much interest other than that

Anne
OOOOOOhhhh Wonderful, Wonderful -

Hi All,
Thought you might like to have a look at a Wedding Couple I just finished.
They are fully jointed, faux fur bears - the brides mother asked me to make a bride and groom miniature so here they are :)
They are about 5" standing and about 3.75 or so sitting
Hope you like them

Anne
Terrie,
When our swap bears are ready please do not be suprised if you have a huge box arrive on your doorstep - I will be inside with the new bear
Anne
What wonderful places you all live and with so much space
- either of your own or within such a short distance.
I think I will start planning my hols so I tour all of the teddy talk houses
So here is my humble abode
I have a little semi in a small estate in a smallish town beside some other bigger estates - I have lived here three years this November and honestly I love my little house.
I have my version of a fairy garden out the back which has lots of animals that are all very cute but never need fed
So I thought I would share with you all too

Anne
WOW!!! There are beautiful - terrific about the auction - well done 1st time of many

Anne
Matilda,
Glad you like my new little avatar - I was a bit tired of the other one with the washing after all the talk about housework
Anne
Thank you thank you Susan
you are wonderful for arranging this and I am so excited
I have contacted Terrie now and can't wait !!
Thanks so much

Anne
But cleaning , housework
, hoovering
(british vacumn), gardening
, bathroom cleaning
- no no no !! I have no time for that!!
Besides it is only me or my partner John who is here and I don't care- and if he does - what the heck he can do it!!
Actually not true he is only allowed to 'do' the bathroom (he make so much more mess than I do  ) or he can 'do' the garden or the kitchen
BUT if he touches anything else at all
is what it gets me!!
OOPS now you will all think I am such a slob!!
I do vacumn when it needs it and I do actually cook (proper meals) at the weekend (and shove some in the freezer for during the week ) but for the rest of the week there are some wierd and wonderful things on the menu
Anyway how could I possibly fit in lecturing, bear making ,teddy talking   and emailing my friends if I did all that other yuck stuff!!
Okay going now before you all really think I am weird!!

Anne
Matilda you will be home again !! Things will go really well in your hospital visit
We will all send you virtual hugs to wrap around you to make you feel good
Anne
The UK contests I have entered usually class miniature as 6" or less
Tried one other contest in US and I am sure it was <5"
Anne
I'll do anything as long as someone tells me directly in plain english - sometimes I get confused late at night -so I await my instructions
By the way I am only willing to do anything just this once
Anne
Eileen
I have just added the following text to my auction (after discussing with my daughter who is really 'into' ebay trends, buyer behaviour and sellers authenticity)
Please note: this bear and other genuine Starlite Bears
being offered directly from the creator Anne will only ever appear in an auction showing the seller's ebay id mini-star32
do not know how/if this will work but it made me feel better cos if anyone copies an auction again - they may leave it in by mistake or at least those who view my genuine auctions will know they are mine - if that does not sound too silly
Anne
Hey Penny - a girl after my own heart
-
what a great economical idea - and I love the smell of shoe polish from a tin
I will be trying it in the near future - but is it real shoe polish or that stuff that you squeeze through a sponge -
Anne
Hi Deb, Penny, Shantell Lousie and others the steps below may help you find ,
You can search in a number of different ways on ebay but to do an advanced search for completed items with a key word then follow the screens :
The first is the home page for ebay - all ebay sites have a similar layout
In the top right you will see a link - the words advanced search underlined
Click on this
You will then be taken to the advanced search screen - this is picture number 2
Enter a key word - for my search I used my trading name which I always enter in title of my auctions
Then check the box beside the words completed listings only(or leave unchecked to see current listings)
now scroll down until your screen looks like picture number 3
In this area of the search I used the pull down list to identify a country in which the item could be offered - you shoudl be able to see that in this example I have chosen China
Then click on the search button at the bottom of all advanced search options available to you and your search will go ahead
Tonite what I have done is save this search to my favourite searches (without the completed box checked)- this means that ebay will email me if anything appears with this set of search conditions - therefore I will be alerted right away if one of my listings appears listed in for example china
So I suggest to keep an eye on things you can set up a search for a term you always include in your listing - like your trading name
I hope this helps
Kim - I am sorry - I know how you feel :(
Penny Thank you for your kind words and I agree - you could spend so much time searching that you would have no time for anything else but I do think my suggestion of a suitable favourite search might help
Daphne I do agree having cooled down that it is a difficult job for ebay to check everything and it really is other users who are at fault with this sort of incidence
Also - when a user has been suspended after a listing has been completed they will then appear as unregistered however my daughter also informs me that an unregistered user can sell - apparently she says it is something to do with the way you register with ebay
Well I hope that I have not caused too many people to get upset
Partly my own problem getting carried away - you see I teach Intellectual Property - concepts and UK legislation to my students and I find it a sensitive issue
Take Care all
Anne
Sue Ann - thankyou for being so kind
Well I know I read in one of the strings recently that someone had had their bear advertised by another seller in a different country but I was totally taken aback today when one of the girls in my work said that she had seen one of my bears being sold by somone else - she thought maybe someone was offering a bear they had adopted through ebay and only mentioned it when we were talking about my ebay bear on just now.
Well after some searching worldwide through completed items - I found it
AN EXACT COPY of my last bears listing - I was horrified - its kind of like someone stealing something that is dear to you
So off I went to Ebay to check out what could be done to complian - this users has ) feedback and has only been an ebay member since the beginning of October however there is a route to complain and that is through their VERo policy - basically this is intellectual property theft
A) my trading name was used
B) my pictures were used
C) My text created by me through innovative thought was used
Never mind the fact that they do not have my bear - unless of course someone has quickly run an identical bear up in their back room
SO I have printed out a pdf form that should be faxed to ebay concerning this sort of area and hopefully they will be able to at least remove this user -
however I am more concerned that someone might just have bid on the auction and been done out of money
- this user has many auctions appearing - and I have to say do they have any of the items at all - and come to that how on earth are they funding all the listing fees??
This user has listed 284 items since the 23rd October only one has had a bid - but just that one person will not I assume ever get the item- I am not sure how ebay could keep an eye on this sort of thing - but since they seem to have watchdogs who remove listings for what appear to be very subjective interpretation of infringements of their rules - surely there must be something they can do
Oh well sorry everyone have got tthat off my chest now - have just to write similar ravings to ebay to see if they will do anything about it
Hope I haven't ruined your day -
Tip from ebay - list a favourite search and be notified by email of items world wide which match the criterion then you can watch to see if anyone copies your listing - so that is their current advice - I will post here if they give me better advice after reporting the problem
Take Care
