I received a lovely victorian style card from Carolyn yesterday! Thank you so much.

I think this has been so much fun...I actually waited for the mail everyday   because I wanted to see from where in the world mail would come from that day. I know I know what a nerd!

Is there anyone that hasn't sent out their cards yet? If you haven't (and its OK - life happens) please still do so - getting later ones is just fine - the love in them has just had a chance to 'mature'!
I just don't want someone to miss out on the joy of sending as well as receiving!

That cat is a deadringer lookalike for our cat Picasso. I better not show this pic to my son or Picasso will soon be sporting headgear! bear_rolleyes

I tried a few times to give a discount to my repeat customers. I think they all appreciated it but it didn't seem to make a difference in whether they bought a bear or not.
I have included copies of magazines where I have been featured or even those little bear books you can often find on sale at the big box stores.
I think everyone enjoys just knowing that you appreciate their business and you took extra time to make them feel special!

Love the new avatar Veronica!

But its so warm Louise!!!! (ok I know warmth for us is a relative thing bear_grin ) I actually had the windows open for a while yesterday.
It rained in Edmonton today for a bit...now all that snow has a nice crispy shell!

OK, Cheryl I just got a cold chill and mumbled to myself "oh my goodness brrrrr," when you said what temp it was there.  Our -2 has NOTHING on that!!!  lol  I hope you are keeping warm!!!

I wonder here, on days like these that are bitterly cold for here, what the homeless do.  bear_sad  What do they do there in THAT kind of temperature???

Kimberly W.

Protection for the homeless (and yes there are alot) is a big issue here. We have recently had a huge economic boom and housing prices and rent have skyrocketed. A lot of people have moved here in the last 2 years with no idea that its so expensive to get housing so it has left a lot of people out in the cold.
The city opens warming stations which are basically warehouse spaces that are heated but people can't sleep there. There are shelters (but just not enough) and patrols that give out blankets and hot drinks but sadly there are still deaths every year from the cold. It is a serious problem.

Your kids look like they're having a blast!

Looks like we are finally getting a break...it was -26C this morning and windy but its supposed to be +2C by tomorrow! Yay!

In keeping with this interesting 'trend'  - I received a lovely card from Sheila today from Nebraska mailed on the Thursday the 8th and a beauty from TamiE in Ohio mailed on the 31st of January! bear_wacko

thanks both of you!

I have seen this guy before-he lives in this trailer in Churchill, Manitoba (CANADA) and does the
live streaming video. Some of the pics are absolutely amazing and the bears are quite friendly to him.

I use their first name in the feedback if they have used it on the receipt in the pkg or in an email they sent.
I think it makes the big ol' world of EBAY a little smaller!

Your bear looks very similar to my old bear.  Mine is a Petz bear from the 1920's.  He was my dad's teddy bear.  Don't under estimate the value of your bear.  Mine appraised at $750.00 before repairs were made.

Wow, Millie what a treasure to have your Dad's bear!
The 2 bears do have a similiar look don't they? I don't actually have the bear yet, only the pictures but I'm looking forward to giving him the 'once over' and see if there are any clues to his heritage. Believe it or not, I got him for $26 which I think was quite a bargain!

I unexpectedly got a little bit of money for my upcoming birthday( bear_tongue for the birthday not the money!) and orders  to "do something nice for myself"...So this is what I did (or bought actually!) and wanted to share him with you!
He wasn't lots of money and I know he isn't a rare steiff or anything but I loved his been-loved-lots expression.
Any of you vintage bear collectors have any insight to his history besides the fact that he's a stick bear?
Thanks in advance!

Hi Jennie
Some Miniature bear makers use them for eyes because they come as small as 1.5mm in diameter. They are very nice to work with. Onyx is a type of quartz stone.

I agree with Andrea, culture, culture, culture.  My daughter and I go to the theatre regularly and we would love to have Emmett join us.  There is so much to do in the Toronto area, he won't have a minute to be bored.

Didn't you hear that Edmonton was named the Cultural Capital of Canada? It's true!!! We are more than just oil rigs, hockey and beer ya know! Emmett will be very well looked after.

The only province that I think that this is a big issue in is Ontario. I have done shows in Alberta, BC and 3 or 4 in Ontario and the only province that had any kind of inforcement of any kind is ON. I always got one day sales permits for Ontario and almost before I could get back home to AB, I would get a 'demand' letter (with threats to seize my property! bear_shocked ) for sales tax remittance. I have never seen officers walking around a show except in Ontario and Florida.
