HOLY CRAP THAT'S AMAZING!

Everything ages and light breaks down just about everything...maybe this is natures way of continuing the life cycle....paints are no different...they come from the earth. Heck, even we break down over time.
:
Is it really realistic to expect our bears to be exactly the same 20-50-100 years from now without ongoing maintenance? Every form of creation breaks down after a time - just as Judi said.
I'm not talking about shoddy workmanship here but just the passage of time. Thread deteriorates ( I've fixed more burst seams than glue repairs actually), little critters pay a visit (I know...ewwwwwww! but it happens) or the environment. Where I live, and I know for others too, it can be +35C in the summer and -40C in the winter and that effects lots of things.
How many vintage bears have you seen with complete original paw pads or full coats of fur? Not many - for me anyway.
I think we should do what we can to make something that lasts but I don't think its realistic to think things will stay forever just the way they started.
Just my 2 cents though!
Cheryl
Oh Kathy...I will go and pray right now!
Please take care of yourself as you care for your daughter.

The absolute best books I have found on this subject were both by Susanna Oroyan: Designing the Doll and Finishing the Figure. They are both obviously written for dollmakers but all the same rules apply. I could never make clothes for my bears because of their very pronounced shape but it got much easier after I worked through FTF. Lots of nice doll eyecandy too!
Best of Luck!

I know this bathing costume looks simple but it has several darts and curved seams to fit his narrow shoulders and ample backside and tummy. I could never figure out how to do it without a big ol' seam down the middle before I read these books.
I saw about you guys on the news this morning - what a smack Mother Nature gave you! I hope you are safe and warm...Take care!
Cheryl
Oh Aleta, I'm terribly sorry for all your troubles. You're a Mom...worry about our kids is what we do- It's in our DNA. Do what you have to do to cope. It sounds like you are doing constructive things not destructive ones and that is so important. I will say a prayer for your family... that wisdom will prevail.
Cheryl
I've received 3 so far...thanks Aleta, Gemma and TamiL!
Yay!
I'm so glad he arrived safely (worried a little about his glass bottom..ahem!) and that you like him!
Merry Christmas Connie!
(He is a bug to photograph though, I must of taken 20 before I gave up!)
Cheryl
It does sound like the hospital is being extra cautious which in the long run is a good thing. It doesn't make it any easier for all of you though does it? Praying you get a very special 'home delivery' for Christmas!

My husband wishes that I would 'clean like a mad woman' when I'm worried!
I bake or I do non bear related crafting. I find if I make bears, they look like I'm feeling - anxious and worried.
I believe in prayer and I try very hard to pray and leave it there but that's not always easy, I know.
Your wreath and red room are fab!.
I hope everything is alright with you Aleta. Sending you a big

I will never complain about wax again...and I only get my eyebrows done!
Berta from the Netherlands provided this on another forum and I'm sure she wouldn't mind if I shared:
When you are on the website make your choice for the bears you like
best in each catagory. You have to thick the box for the bear you
like best.
At the end you have to fill in your name adress etc and email
address. I think it is not necesarry to fill out the entire address
but you need to add name and email for sure. To be safe fill out all.
Than you have 2 buttons: First button = "löschen" and second button
is "absenden".
DON`T click the first button "löschen" as it means "delete" and you
have to start over, but click the second button "absenden".
If you did everything correct you see this on the next page:
"Danke für Ihre Stimme!" which means: "Thank you for your vote !"
Hope that helps
Cheryl
I think Jenny posted about this the other day, there are a couple of TT'ers up for the honours!

What a lovely family keepsake. I believe that things like that have a lot of family 'spiritual DNA' and I hope it brings you happiness when you look at it!
I just reread this and thought "wow, no wonder people think I'm weird!"

Chowlea Bears: The first mystery.........................how do snowplough drivers get to work?????

The third? Why is "bra" singular but "panties" plural?
Its ok...I'll find my own dark room!
Cheryl
How exciting for her!!!! I remember when I got my Kitchenaid mixer - I'd been wanting one forever but as you can tell they are very expensive. We were in a big warehouse store and they had marked one mixer down to 75% off because the colour was discontinued. I almost ran with it to the cash (and they are heavy!) absolutely convinced someone would try to take it from me! I have had it 15 years and it is as good as the day I got it. If your daughter takes good care of it, it will last a lifetime - tell her congratulations and that drinking and clubbing will only give you a hangover...a kitchenaid gives you muffins!!

Done! Best of Luck to all TT ers entered
Mine is on its way...the post office says delivery by next Wednesday to the U.S...
I saw this story on the news last night. A very similar thing happened in our city a couple of years ago. It became personal for us when one of the women murdered was the former girlfriend of my husband's friend and the mother of his child. She had tried to straighten out her life for a while when she was with him but the call of the street and the drugs was too much for her. I often wondered if the story would have garnered more sympathy if the victim hadn't been an 'addict and hooker' as the news referred to her and had been described as 'Robin's Mother'. So sad. I hope they catch this person soon.
Cheryl what would you like to see to carry on the game?
I’m sad aren’t I but this game is keeping my mind off the worry!
Hugs Kerren
You're not sad at all Kerren, if this helps you then do it! Its so hard when you can't do anything but wait
I would like to see: Your favourite artist bear! You don't have to own it - just if you could own it you would!
Let's see how many answers we get!
Cheryl
Some people want to make a piece of art totally created and envisioned by them and some people want to make something that they can talk about at parties.
Its apples and oranges to me.
I agree that its a smart business move though...whatever you need to do to broaden the market you're after.
Bobbi...how's the knee?
Cheryl
Did everybody know but me that you can read the whole TBCI magazine on their website?
The pattern is there too!
Normally I would encourage you to buy the mag but I can't find it anywhere here anymore and a subscription is astronomical in price.
Cheryl
Looky what I got yesterday!
Isn't "Snowball" just the sweetest?
He of course, is instantly recognizable as a PandyPotter Bear by Amanda!
Thank you so much Amanda,
Cheryl
Oh by the way...no customs problems at all
