Heh the same person bid on my Colin & Dash. Grumble.

toadbriar

YAY - congrats!!!!!     Ah I am about 1.5 hours drive west of you.
(we're in a little cottage on a few acres & it's $750 rent, so there's plenty of variety through the state!)
Boston is great!! It is such a fun city, and you have the most beautiful towns and coast and camping
just a little bit of a drive away.

Well - how are you for driving in winter? You'll have done some of that in Kansas, right? I'd rather drive
in a blizzard up here than a dusting of snow down south. In the city like you are, they'll be quick with the
plows and clearing it all. The important thing is that everyone ELSE knows how to drive in it.

Boston's kind of....exciting....to drive in. Take the T when you can (the subway system is GREAT)
The roads are NOT on grids over here - it's an old city, where paths followed shorelines and rivers and stuff!
Get yourself a state atlas to keep in the car.
Do you know how to go around rotaries?

Boston drivers can be.....assertive.....how good are you at making a left hand turn on redbear_shocked

Kim I seriously love the pirate flag you have, is that a state / town flag??????
You don't have one bear, I feel bad for you that you didn't even get to know if they got the bear.  :(

Thank you! I NEED to let it go, but you know.

Hahahahahah @ pirate flag - well I saw it in the choices so how could I possibly choose anything else??

Kim I just realized who you are, I LOVE your work!!!!!!!!!!!!

 (me?? gosh) it took me way too long to realize hippie bear avatar jodi = storytime mousies artist, lol
By that time you'd been so nice & approachable on the forum I hadn't a chance to be shy & intimidated by yer talent 'in person' bear_grin

toadbriar

Zero.

Not one.

If I spend money, it's on bear or art supplies!

I did keep back my first bear, but I sent him to someone who seemed to need a bear.
(I ended up a lil bummed cos I never actually heard that they got it)

toadbriar

Plastic joints seem like a waste of time and not much safer than the other sort in the long run. The remaining appeal of them in a childsafe bear, IMO, would be washability. You can't toss a fiberboard disc jointed bear in the wash! But that is important to me for a child's toy. You can only take damp surface sponging so far. Is there another option for washability, besides unjointed altogether?

toadbriar

That's the saddest little face I've ever seen!
I just realized, she's making the same face as your avatar bear

give that baby some cookies lol  bear_wub

toadbriar

I should think you'd need to be careful not to put a computer near that wall then?

toadbriar

ADORABLE!
Sooo much character in those guys, I adore them! The hat with the dongly flower & the little scarf are killin me!!  bear_wub
Elle where can I see more of your stuff??

toadbriar

Wendy, it's actually an eft - a juvenile newt. As a young fella he lives in the forest and is orange, but when he grows
up, he will turn green (with orange spots!) and he'll go to live in the water fulltime. Aren't they cute little wrinkly pudgems?
Poor lil guys will walk right off the edge of your hand if you hold them, though, no sense at all! They're amphibians like
toads & frogs & salamanders. I am delighted to have them living around here in such great numbers, as they're awfully
fragile and so are an indicator of a healthy ecosystem.

By far some of the nicest neighbors we've ever had!

toadbriar

Rabies is more of an issue in the eastern US - it's just not spread out west so much.

Sue Ann, I love those big orange-bellied fox squirrels! They are so cheeky.

Sometimes we find wildlife right outside the door

I try to stay 3-4 bears ahead of whatever I'm selling that week. The current obsession (for certain look or whatever) is
far enough removed from whatever's listed on ebay that I feel 'free'. It gives me a bit of distance perspective
and reduces the performance anxiety.

toadbriar

Hmmmm do What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? and Sunset Boulevard count as chick flicks?  I love Crazy Old Bat movies. But closer to topic, I love Fried Green Tomatoes and The Color Purple.

toadbriar

Lookit all those speckles! I wonder if they have some pointer or even beagle in them. I've not seen speckly pitbulls or boxers but these sweeties look like they've got a lot of 'ingredients'!

So Ann have you got the Neighborhood Softie reputation or what?? Congrats on your new ickle puppy, I love your dad's style, he's got the grampa thing down pat for sure!

Kim-bee I'm sorry about your bad doggie experiences  bear_cry Our next puppy is gonna be a Newfoundland (~160 lbs full grown!) cos they are the gentlest breed. I adore little dogs, but hugging a big warm fluffy pup whose paws are the size of dinner plates is heaven  bear_wub The closest thing to a live teddy IMO!

Ann can we have more pictures?  :photo:  bear_wub

Hi, chat room fans . . . lol probably

Soooo about that pony, then....

think of it as mutual brain picking opportunities, & then it is much easier to rationalize!  bear_grin

Dearest persons in positions of authority, can it be done? We are a well-behaved bunch, honest....!

toadbriar

Would I be the only one who'd enjoy popping onto TT of an evening to see who's in a chatroom
to gab with for a little while as I wait for some fur to tea dye or some fray check to dry?

I think it would be fun, what do you guys think? Mods & grownups, are there reasons not to?

toadbriar

Can you go over the options with your buyer? If they can see the ridiculousness of the Global requirements they might choose Express or something else. It may be that Global arrives within a short time and they like that - or insurance might be a more important concern than speed, or what have you. See how they prioritize the features that they need, & surely there is an option that can please them. In these instances I rely on the real live workers at the PO, cos often their info is not the same as on the website. This alarms me to some degree, but everything I've mailed overseas and domestically has arrived so far.  bear_ermm

Knock wood!

Global Express can't manage a frickin cube-shaped box smaller than 12" on a side?? I suggest you pack your packages as you would for safe delivery, and bring them to the PO & say "WHAT CAN YA DO FOR ME?"

toadbriar

Well as best as I can tell, it's all been sorted out, although my bidding history is a big mess.
I ran a bunch of spyware & virus scanning stuff on my computer (downloading all day & night
over dial up is FUN) & only came up with a couple piddly things on my machine from like 2004.
Changed all my passwords of course! And I looked through my emails but I do not know how
they got me. If I had a sketchy spoof in my mailbox, I can't find it. But an ebay login page must
have been faked somewhere along the line. Just not sure where!

All the sellers whose auctions were affected have been really nice & understanding.
I hope no one gets confused or hostile and messes up my feedback, tho.
thanks for the tea & sympathy you guys, I was stressed & distressed but much better now!  bear_thumb

toadbriar

well it looks to be just a bunch (200+ actually) of bids/won items, bid on using my account.
I became aware of it from an email notice that I'd won - hah (sheesh it's not even cool stuff!)
it doesn't appear they've messed with MY auctions, thank goodness (knock wood)

a lot of the listings seem to be french, for what that's worth.
Now I am changing passwords on everything - I'd gotten lazy.

I was in live chat & downloading the ebay toolbar but then my computer froze up  bear_angry

toadbriar

You can be damn sure I did not bid on 150+ actions for breast pumps & bibs this morning....
Waiting on live chat to straighten me out. Changed my password - dunno how they got me - I
am careful & savvy!

grrrrr

A slight detour here, from Kim:

I am a feedback slacker

Do any of you use Amazon regularly?
I purchase all of the books I want on Amazon Used books. For years! And I've even sold some there. Many Sellers put in a nice little note saying that they're proud of their history of satisfied, repeat customers and would I consider taking a moment to rate them?

I admit that I'm a TOTAL slacker; maybe it's just that I'm into eBay's site every day anyhow, and am familiar with the system so it's a moment to complete there. but... I've never left an Amazon seller a Feedback of any sort.

Whew! To have finally come clean on this, I feel as if I've just been to Confession and received Absolution!

I know you'll be SHOCKED to discover I've never left amazon feedback either....! It doesn't
seem that they make finding it very easy.
[rant mode]
But then I always feel gouged by their shipping. I KNOW how much media mail costs!
It'd leave a better taste in my mouth for them to just say "this book is $2, shipping is $1.59"
than to dance around with that silly $3.50 flat ship for a paperback that is priced at one cent.
I don't mind it much - lots of the sellers are just the sort of used books store that I love - but it
makes me a bit cross. I admit I have been like $5 off for shipping estimates myself sometimes,
but I do PayPal it back.
[/rant mode]

I have something you might fancy....
http://www.paperbackswap.com
(I've even gotten a few bear books on there! But mostly it's for when I want some
Dean Koontz sort of stuff to read. Doesn't get much cheaper than free, and I've offloaded
a mess of mysteries clogging up my shelves too)

Wow, I hijacked that pretty far. I might be in Canada or something by now.  bear_grin

I guess that on the topic of feedback, it's best to not ascribe 'hostage-taking behavior' when
it can just as likely be non-malicious intent!

(I wonder if the NSA is monitoring this thread yet, with all the mentions of hijacks
and hostages...)

toadbriar

Jane I am gonna get in so much trouble with that site....they've got good stuff!!

toadbriar

I do like Edie and Brenda - wait til buyer's received the goods.

Actually no. I don't actively wait - I just get around to feedback when I get around to it. What's the hurry?
We've got 90 days to leave it. I always leave it but I think of it as an afterthought, unless something goes
really wrong. I've never had to leave a neg or neutral, though. I am not holding my breath to wait to receive
it, either - it's nice but I honestly wouldn't notice if someone waited a couple weeks before leaving it!

I DO try to be a little more timely if someone has very few transactions under their belt though.

I am a feedback slacker  bear_shocked
