Yes Jodi...mine finally arrived last Thursday.

Made me laugh, 'cause my bear that was featured in it, was purchased and delivered to Massachusetts before I even got to see it in print...so MA must get it early!!!

You're just lucky it wasn't higher Deb...then you really would have been in trouble!  bear_grin

Mary, I have been making bears for 20 years and have continually designed new patterns right from the start. In the beginning I did do limited editions but now I pretty much only do one of a kinds as I find it much more interesting and satisfying. People always seem to recognize my bears though - even though I am using different patterns and always experimenting with designs there are certain things that just follow through from bear to bear and you will find that happens for you as well the more bears you make. I would say definitely DON'T stick to using just one pattern - you will be bored to tears!!! Try to get your bears shown in magazines or list them on bid4bears or ebay - even if it is just for the exposure.

Edie I couldn't have said it better myself.

I think it's so important to keep evolving and challenging yourself, while constantly trying to improve your workmanship.

Just as it is important to promote yourself at shows, where you can have personal contact with collectors, and in the media, to reach those who might not otherwise see your work.

We are very lucky to have wonderful editors of teddy magazines world wide, who whole heartedly support us by showcasing our bears and encouraging our "cottage industry" as a whole. So start sending those pictures in!

Great Move!!!  bear_thumb

I joined this forum to talk teddies, as the name suggests.

I don't consider myself 'basic compassion and kindness challenged' but I do prefer to do this one on one, not publicly.

When I spoke of these 'basic compassion and kindness challenged' folk, I didn't mean people that didn't respond to these kind of postings but rather to members that felt the need to belittle or make light of other members personal issues. I often don't have the time to read through the non teddy related posts either but will try to PM when I can. I hope you weren't offended Sandi!

Cheryl bear_flower

No offence taken Cheryl!

Well I have a subscription and haven't received mine yet, so I think it will still be a little while before it hits the shelves.

But I know what you mean...two months seems such a long time when you are waiting for something!

Still time to bag a bear ... 9.5 hours to go!

bearlysane

Thanks Pauline...it's going great guns over there.

Like Paula said...the show sales are good, I've had two adoptions and we still have about 12 hours to go!

I am not a cat lover ... but these are really cute Krista.
When I first looked at the photo I thought the tabby was a painting.

Seems a lot of the larger stores are opting for SUPER STORES to try and corner the market on everything.
But it's a pity they don't listen to their customers.
I'm fed up with all the shelves being stocked with nothing but beads and scrapbooking supplies.
I have stopped buying ribbons from our Spotlight stores because they no longer stock the type of ribbons I require
and I have never purchased bear supplies from them out of principal.
I pefer to give my custom to those who specialise in bear making supplies...at least then you can be certain of the quality!
Come to think of it I prefer to shop at specialist stores for all my craft supplies, I can always find what I'm looking for there.
On the rare occasions when I can't, the shop assistants will always order in for me.
If you ask for help in these SUPER STORES, half the time they don't even know what you are talking about
and the rest of the time it's always too much trouble for them to find out!

Chrissi you really got me going on a sore point!!  bear_grin

Thank you so much  bear_flower Patty,  bear_flower Denise,  bear_flower Marlys, bear_flower Sarah Jane,  bear_flower Jenn and  bear_flower Debbie.
I must say overall, it was loads of fun doing this project.
Hard going at times when things wouldn't quite go as I had planned...but all very enjoyable just the same.
Now I can understand why Judi enjoys needlefelting her faces.
