I thought all you hard working bear makers might like to share a few of the views I've just left behind in North Devon, here in the UK. I spent last week perched on the side of a cliff in a remote spot called 'Woody Bay' and it was absolutely beautiful! The pic above is of our apartment.
No, we didn't have Mediterranean sunshine all week (this is the UK after all!) but we loved every minute of our holiday and walked for miles. Now that I'm back, I'm refreshed and raring to get back to work! Just read that several of you are well underway with your bears for Hugglets and I haven't even started mine yet, so panic stations Paula! Time for me to get my head out of the clouds and knuckle down to some hard graft!
Anyway, in the meantime, why not take a wee break and enjoy the view with me! :rose:

Wow that looks so peaceful - I could do with alittle bit of that at the moment!

It was incrediblyl peaceful Ali ... hardly a soul for miles! Not any good if you enjoy a lively nightlife (which I don't) but if you've walked all day (and believe me, those cliff walks are taxing!) all you're fit for in the evening is a cup of cocoa and an early appointment with your duvet!
It looks wonderful, Paula!! Thank you for sharing the views!!
That is such a lovely view.
Paula..I know all those places so well...up till very recently we used to go to Woolacoombe nearly every year...and that is my very favourite bit of the south west...Woody Bay is beautiful and we've often gone to the Hunters Inn...and visited all round there..so many lovely places. Watersmeet is breath taking and is a lovely walk..
We're going up to Whitby next month and that is beautiful in a different way...wonderful walks too...and huge scenery ...I love it...
What gorgeous scenery Paula. It looks very much like some parts of Nova Scotia. That waterfall is beautiful and I love the cliffs by the water. Very serene. I would never be brave enough to walk that trail on the Valley of Rocks. Yikes !
What a gorgeous place Paula!!! Looks like it was very relaxing...Now get to work!!!
Hugs,
Krista
Awwwwww Paula !

What absolutely beautiful photos Paula! The valley of the rocks path really struck a chord with me and I started to tear up a little...thanks for the visual respite on this busy day

wow, you have a good eye for photography! What a great place to stay for a week, I'm feeling Jealous.
Wonderful photo's Paula! ...brought back many happy memories of holidays past....such a lovely part of Devon, I remember driving up that nearly vertical hill near Porlock!!! Looks like you had
a great time.
Back down to earth now....lots of bears to make..not long now....
Happy sewing....hugs Yvonne
Lovely to hear you have all enjoyed sharing the pics!
I walked until my poor old bones reminded me I'm not twenty any more and then I hobbled on some more ... and some more! I love holidays like this, they put life back into perspective.
I'm so pleased that those of you who haven't been able to see these places before, have shared a glimpse of their beauty and that those of you who know them well, have smiled as your own memories warm the cockles of your hearts! Jenny, the route to drive down Hunter's Inn is hair raising! I kept very, very quiet as 'he' nosed the car down very, very slowly!! On the other hand, as you know, the walk is breathtaking and I'd happily do that again and again, if only to avoid the look of panic on his face when tackling that steep track in his precious car!
Well Paula we had a hair-raising drive down there once. I drove down as we were in my company car and so Steve could not drive it...I drove up Porlock hill...never having been up it before I said to Steve 'shall I do this in second gear' ...'yes' he said and I started up it...OMG all went fine until the notorious hairpin when a Land Rover came down on the wrong side of the road I had to stop and then had to do a scary hill start which at that point I am guessing it's a 1 in 3 gradient but it feels like a sheer drop...I don't know how I did it...but I did!!
Then we drove to Mortehoe where we always stay via Woody Bay..I drove down a very tight windy lane and went through what looked like ferns sticking out of a stone wall...it wasn't ferns ...it was the wall itself which had collapsed amid all the greenery and was half way across the road. Result ...a burst tyre and frayed tempers....
But the view from the top was worth it....the whole place is magical..and you've made me want to go there again....
Paula, what beautiful pix and what a breath taking place!
It looks so calm and inviting.....beam me up Scotty!!!
Thanx for sharing your fotos!
Gaby
Beautiful, Paula. You visit (and live in) the most fascinating places. I want to be your travel partner!
Oh Paula
I am so jealous - what beauty!
Danni
Oh wow Paula, these shots are just glorious. My husband is from Devon (Brixham), and so I must show him these photos when he gets home. He always tells me how beautiful it is there. We are hoping to come over in a year or two, and I am definitely going to put these gorgeous places on our "to do" list.
Thanks so much for sharing your holiday pictures with us Paula. What a beautiful, lush part of Britain Devon really is. I must get myself down there for a break.
NOW Paula get some sewing done. My camera is ready!
Hugs Jane.
Eeks, Jane, not the camera please!!! AAAAARRRRGGGHHHH!!!
Jenny, I'll have to add Whitby to my list of places to visit .. I haven't been there before, so don't forget to share some pics when you get back! I'd love to see them and I know you are great with the camera, so it will be a treat!
The path through the Valley of Rocks is very rugged and beautiful. I was thrilled when we spotted several feral goats munching on the cliffside ... I can't imagine how their hooves manage to hang on though, it was a sheer drop beneath them! Watersmeet is such a pretty place and because of all the recent heavy rainfall here in the UK (much of which was on the M4 on our drive down!) the waterfall thundered through into the stream ... very powerful and dramatic! We walked right up to the top of the waterfall and then back down and followed the stream as far as we could, until my legs could take no more ... Stuart said one day he'd like to go on hikes with me where we actually arrive somewhere! Typical man! Has to have a beginning, middle and end to a journey ... me, I like to walk for walking's sake and just soak up the surroundings until I'm tired and need to turn back.
I couldn't resist a ride on the Victorian cliff railway at Lynmouth (actually, four rides in all!) It works on a water pulley system somehow and it's quite an eye opener! This is a pic of the top of the railway ... it joins the cliff top village of Lynton to the cliff bottom village of Lynmouth. I was a bit nervous to begin with, but figured if it's been ferrying folk up and down for that many years, there should be no reason it shouldn't cope with my extra half a stone (pasties and clotted cream ice-cream! Yum!)
Amazingly beautiful !!! What an Artist GOD is !!! I would have loved to have been there !!!!
Paula . . . PASTIES?? You wanna know what those are in the US??
Oh, Sue Ann!!!
Spectacular photos, Paula!!!
Warmest bear hugs,
