Oh my gosh, Ellen! You know that bear with the apple bib in your top right hand picture? It's the same bear my friends boyfriend just gave her, that was his from childhood... how strange is that?!
Awww, lookit that Giraffe! I bet you did feel special XD And what a nice box! I'm wanting to participate this year, but I still need to sign up... Trying to get my head round B4B first!
Congrats!
Good plan... I'll see what's in my area Better than battling it out with a VERY ANGRY swan...
It's a surprise XD
Unfortunately I also need to learn how to needle felt before I can finish it, so it's an EXTENDED surprise I was thinking about swan and goose feathers, but my problem is that no one in my family can drive, so the only way I can get feathers is by taking on the swans along our river directly, and I'm not sure I want to do that! Thanks Cat
Ah, but you forget I am a Brit XD I will certainly try a craft shop as soon as I can find one.. there's not really any call for one where I live :P
I'd make them from FIMO, which is easier, but it's for a creature with extremely long claws and I don't want then to be too brittle... maybe wire would make them ok.
Glad to see the idea works, jeannie! Now, if only I could find some chickens...
Maybe transparent FIMO would work intead? On a wire armature?
Can't wait to start on this idea, but I don't want to tell you all what it is incase it comes out bad
Thanks Michelle I've googled for feathers, but didn't think about hat type ones XD Only problem is there's little information on the sizes... I'll keep looking though! Thanks!
Yeah, that would make an amazing bear... all poufy! What I'm wanting to do is find a way of making nice natural looking claws that are a lot longer than a bears, and i thought a good feather quill might do it, if I could attatch them together and slip them through a seam somewhere...
Ooo, sorry! I mean in diameter XD you're right! Like mini... dwarfy bird feathers!
Hello again everyone XD Seems I'm begging for help more often than not nowadays
Anyhoo, this is a seemingly strange request for ideas about feathers. I'm wanting to use the quill stem for an idea of mine, so it doesn't matter about colour: only quill size! Something about...4-5mm, 1/5" would be great... maybe a little smaller. Anyone got any ideas of what birds I should be looking at, or even better any suppliers?
I know this seems random, but it does have a point, and it's a bear (ish) point too! Believe me! :D

Thank you I hope so... I may be giving him to a lady who helped me last month after I was flashed walking back from the shops last week... bless her, she was so kind to me
She's the receptionist at my College. I still need to fix his arms first though
Woah, that baby sure can drive! :P
And that Mimzy mockup is... hmm. I wasn't even here for the Mimzy saga, but reading back I know how much effort had to be put in: at least it only made $22!
Debbie, do you mean like this:

What a fantastically blondey birdie! She was blessed in life to have such a lovely colour: I never thought chickens could be like that!
Gosh, there's some wierd varieties though...

XD Poor souls... at least Broom looked a little more dignified, eh?!
XD Well I thing they're cool Plus the overwhelming advantages of cyberspace will help you dodge flying objects
Aww, lookit the chicaloos For Debbie, right? Bless her...
I like the door stop XD
Too right. Thee's a girl at my college who should really read this: she's constantly complaining about how she's unpopular/failing/ugly/going to be a spinster/having a breakdown without doing anything to change things, and it is so irritating... i guess I should take some of the advice too though, because in the middle of her last bout I told her to stop whining.
Still, she doesn't talk to me now, and it's so funny watching her trying to ignore me when I sit next to her, and on the plus side: I've never felt so positive about life!
XD Yeah, the first page is some flower shots, and then its all mice and rats :P
Tis ok, they're pretty much the same anyway! Just i decided to keep Pina and i made Malibu to sell in his place Glad you like them! And I love being off topic... it's the ONLY place to be
Wow, it's like a rat explosion XD I think my cats would be in heaven...
Flickr? Not heard of it: I'll have to Google it!
Pina Colada is my avatar bear He's sat on my book shelf right now, looking very undignified with a scrunchie 'round his neck XD Are you thinking of another one?
You're very welcone I'm going to try one myself... eventually XD
Ack, my Deviantart? Ah, a lot of mistakes on there..... ah well
What a fab idea! if I ever start needle felting, I'll be nicking this one
Not sure about finding a box though...
Thanks Veronica I think you're right; it is just the expression on him! I've been making up practise patterns with some old faux fur, but it's so thick and cotted I have to put in more effort than for doing the real versions XD maybe felt will be better...
Thanks again! x
I bought some brown stubble mohair in a big lot on Ebay, and it's pretty interesting! i think i may sell it on though: looks like it'sbest for little 'uns, and I'm no good at them XD
I've never made one, but there is a tutorial type topic on here somewhere...
Basically it's like a wedge of mohair with two circular ends where they attatch to the head and body, that makes to neck more realistic, and when manipulated allows a bear to change its head position... Try these pages:
