OK OH yes...I did respond to the bears toes...I like them, not everyone can do toes real well but she does and I really like that double neck joint...sure makes for more different poses....Winney
Yes...Nurse Dilu comes to the rescue everytime...better than Superman, Batman, more like Super woman ?...we love her so...Nurse Dilu is our very own Gollie Good Nurse ...We love you Di....Winney
Wonderful Shelli !!! That turned out so well...I too think the letters around the hat is a way better idea as it shows up all the time with the bear...He is sure to be a great smash!!! .......Winney
Eileen ...I havn't a clue, LOL...I have not been reading that book.
Dilu, on the toes a great book to look at if Jennifer Laings" Making Teddy and His Friends" It has so many neat techniques in it, with each animal she teaches a new technique....Winney
I just learned that Pentel is a good pen , use for quilt signing...Sharpie used on a bears face will turn purple later ....NO !!!!! and I have some bears where I used Sharpie around the eyes. Now, everyone will think I beat the poor things.Pentel dosn't turn purple later.... Amazing what you learn after years of using the wrong thing...Winney
Rita...I send my love & prayers your way for your healing ....hope you get well so soon it won't even be a memory.
.......Winney
I definately vote for the pulled neck and jointed toes..he, he...no really . you do the toes so well it's " artistry at its finest " and the extra neck joint does offer many more poses for expressions , isn't that what we all strive for ? .....Winney
Hmmm .....I wonder if you could use those big metal lids that come off of the big pickle or mayonnaise jars..ask for them at a restaurant.
One time I made some real big joints by cutting out cereal cardboard circles then I laminated about 4 or 5 layers together with Elmers wood glue...Wow they were strong too... Winney
Dilu, this is page one and I can't find who you are talking to...did you sleep OK last night ? LOL
I had a strange dream last night ; I dreamed I worked for the FBI and Werner came in and said ; " I am Sorry but they don't have any water. We have dug holes down all over the place and there's no water ".
I have not a clue to what this dream means...LOL, Dilu is Winney going Wonkey Bonkers ?....Winney
Ho Ho....Ha Ha... Ho Ho.... Ho....and LOL all the way to my kitchen, I am with you Eileen ...Winney
Oh my gosh...what a bunch of beggars you all are...he, he. I know how to solve this. Go to your local craft store and buy a book on bow making ? Uhhh, go ask the local florist ?...Oh I am being mean.....
Let's see, not to disappoint you all, I have to get my camera fixed ,then I will need to do a series of photos , showing is much better then reading how...especially for bows. This is going to be a challenge for me!Maybe after I do that...Intercal will design a new spot for us for...Artist Techniques ??? so check back here later...Winney
A wonderful glue to use is " Leather Weld "...Mary Daubb prefers it over all other glues when it comes to leather.
I will share more later , I have to hurry , get ready for the bear meeting we are having in Cave Junction...Winney
Thank's Dilu...It will have to be sometime after the Mini class.
Have to figure out what's up with my camera too...Winney
I too thought COD means "Cash On Delivery "...but then a check is suppose to be like cash.. I wonder if you could specify " Cashiers Check upon Delivery " for the delivery person to collect ?....Winney
Hi Kelly..That's a good point about the wax nose. I don't believe shipping a real fur bear differs much from a mohair one. If you are really concerned then ship the fastest way .... Winney
Glad we could help out Shelli...I just thought ..if you need to do any secured stitching ... use invisible thread or fishline...
Another neat cord - ribbon - ? idea is to look over in the needle canvas supplies ? for hanks of colored satin and metallic cords offered in several mm sizes.. they are put up in hanks like emb. thread. I designed a fabric hot air ballon for a little bear to ride in a small basket and had to invent some way to do the ballon netting ( whatcha ma call it ) and found this string/ cord to be just so perfect, it can also be braided or doubled together for a variety of effects...or beads can be strung on . Just thought...it may be called rat tail cord...Winney
Hmmm,....I have a few ideas....Use leather jewlery ( eye ) cord ? String the beads onto it Cord can even be braided.
Perhaps several narrow ribbions can be braided together to use for the handle....attach with several knots at each end...maybe you could even leave long colorful ribbion tails at the handle ends.....Winney
KBonsall.....Yes.mink is always beautiful for just about any size bear. I make a lot of real fur bears,... Do a search here above, we have talked about this subject several times. If you need to ask more questions then post...Winney
Wow ! and Yeahhhhh !!! So glad to hear about all of you having some happy positive happenings..it is very encouraging to us new comers too. It sounds like those collectors are about as wackey loving about their bears as we are. Congradulations to all of you !....Winney
Id like to see the contract too...pease ... Winney
I cut the ribbon length , tie the bow onto the bear then put a paper towel on his tummy ...fry check the ribbon end and let it dry... then trim off all of the fray check except for a tiny bit on the edge...Winney
A good idea is when ever you make the head a wobble joint...be sure to hide all your colored threads; from the eyes or sculpting really well under that neck disc. because they will be easier to see under the looser neck joint...Winney
I'll go along with that..Yee Haw ! Yee haw ! Yee haw !!! ...Winney
Hi Meg...welcome to the group, this is a bunch of very friendly people, we have alot of fun besides sharing bear making tips...Sometimes we get chatty and even weird but in a good weird way, LOl. Hey..I went to your web site, very neat, love your cubbies , they all loook so happy.
