So what does that vet have against small dogs? That makes no sense to me whatsoever. Big dogs aren't for everyone. Not everyone can handle a big dog or have the room for one. I happen to think Papillons are wonderful. They are so cute and very smart. I myself have big dogs-one is a giant dog a Leonberger, the other is a mutt about half the size of the Leonberger but still big at about 68lbs. But I certainly see great advantages to small dogs. For one (actually two)they generally live longer and they aren't as expensive to feed! To each their own I say- that is why there are so many different breeds of dog!
I won't go into hybrid vigour except to say that I have seen plenty of mutts that are just as sickly and or wacky as purebred dogs!
I have to say that is a gorgous pic of Pippin!!!! He is one marvelously handsome dog!
Glad he hasn't had any more episodes! Hang in there!!!
Beth
Pippin is adorable! I sure hope your vet can figure out what is going on! Could it be he is hyper sensitive to certain smells that cause a strange allergic reaction? Shampooing the carpet could leave a residue chemical smell that you wouldn't smell but a dog possibly could. And outside he could smell fertilizers, pesticides that might cause problems. Poor little guy! I do hope you can get an answer to what ails him!
Beth
Oh what an adorable puppy!!!!!!! What is he? He sort of looks like my mutt Wookie (whose nickname happens to be the Hobbit) He has very similar markings. Whatever he is he is cute cute cute!

I decided to name my panda Gui hun. It means to take a devil may care attitude and to make nuisance for others. So that fit perfect!
Abby/Ellie, you did a great first job on all those firsts! Mine was a first panda and first challenge.
Beth
This is my first challenge ever and boy was it ever a real challenge. But I finally got my Panda finished. Anyone know the chinese word for devil? Because I had a devil of a time getting this one done.
I had to do everything and I mean EVERYTHING at least twice on this bear. It was like he didn't want to be made! But I was bound and determined that I would finish him and I finally did! Whew!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love everyone else's Pandas. They are all fantastic!!
Beth
How could anyone dump a dog! I can never understand that! Depicable people!!!!!
But you are wonderful for taking Bart in. I bet he will now live happily ever after! You are a wonderful fairy godmother--or should I say dogmother?
He does look like a real sweetheart! And I love that white bird he has on his chest!
Beth
OH MY!!! What a trapeeze artist that bear is! Great photos! A video of that would really be fun to watch.
I love all your cute pics of the day Tami. Always good for a smile.

Glad to hear your kitty is doing OK! It is sooo scary when pets eat odd things. I have two dogs Sienna a Leonberger and Wookie a mutt. Wookie is nicknamed chewmonster because of all the strange things he eats and chews. I had to take him to the emergency vet a few months ago because he swallowed a HUGE piece of furry fabric--it had to be about 8" around. [It wasn't fur from my teddy bear making but from my other dog's old snuggly ball. A very large furry ball that she sucks on like a pacifier. Once the ball is worn out, I get Sienna a new one and let Wookie have the old one. ] I was playing with Wookie and the large scrap of fur that was left of the ball when he suddenly decided to swallow the whole thing. I couldn't believe he actually got it down his throat. I thought he was going to choke on it but he didn't. But I knew it was way to big to come out the other end so I immediatly took him to the emergency vet where they gave him something to make him throw it back up. Luckily he did so there was no surgery needed. Crazy mutt!

I love cactus and yours is beautiful! I have a few little ones in pots that were my mother's. She passed away in 1993. They can live a loong loooong time!
Beth
Oh what fun you and the bears must have had! I would love to see all those wildflowers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So is this retreat a bear making retreat? That sounds like fun!
Beth
I would love to try a Panda. I have been planning on trying my hand at one soon so this fits right in. And it is great we have till September so even a slowpoke like me should have time to get one done.
I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with.
Beth
Oh yes, I want to see too! I like strange and unusual.

I wondered where people got the long long hair for dogs myself. I'm new to all this so I thought it was from mohair suppliers.
Apparantly it isn't. But, I have up till recently been sculpting and making art doll fairies and used tibetan mohair for their hair. It is usually sold on the pelt and is usually about 5" long. I was interested in getting it even longer for larger dolls so I did a search on the web of Tibetan mohair. I don't remember the actual site name but I found one that had very long hair on long strips that were called wefts as was previously mentioned here to be used on doll wigs. You might find a site by typing in doll wigs or tibetan mohair in the search bar.

Hi Tami,
It looks like a female but it is still possible that it is a male. It is hard to judge the size of the fish in the picture but it looks larger than most females I have seen. I work in a pet store and the only fish we sell are bettas-both male and female. I have two male bettas myself- seperated from each other of course. I did a bit of reading about them recently and I do remember reading that there are some males that are mistaken for females due to their shorter fins. The bright red color of yours also makes me think it is a male as most females aren't so brightly colored--though then again some are. So I don't know how much help I really gave you here.
I'll try and get some pics of my two on here. One is yellow and blue--the first yellow betta I had ever seen. We have had a few more since then but I was so amazed by his unusual color I just had to bring him home.
