For artists and collectors sponsored by Intercal...your mohair supplier and Johnna's Mohair Store
Alexis, here's another way of thinking about ATCs:
We can't possibly afford a teddy from all of our friends here, but by saving art cards from each artist we get to have a little touch of their particular style with us. I have cards from so many artists that I simply adore, the artist and the card, and I make shadow boxes to mount the cards in. Every time I see them I think of that artist. It makes me happy, and the artists are so clever and talanted in what they create.
If you have never tried it I encourage you to do so. They are a nice way to use up scraps of ribbons laces and mohair.

PS you dont have to be able to draw! if you can make a teddy you can do a card.
Ahhhh steph
Honey, you'll drive back into bears and away from dolls.....no wait! We can do both!
I think I shall have to order some of your cashmere if there is any left after the Spring Fling at Nancy's- gotta get these dollies done first.....
you do supply the best minimini fabrics! And the colors are delish!

Oh, yes, I do understand.
First try your best to spend the $200 as it will not only give you lots to choose from but also a price break! I personally love her frosteds, and her pastels, she does them herself and truly they are so very lovely. All of her fabrics are dream fabrics for hand stitching, so easy and so dependable. And, for minis so very very easy to turn-pretty crucial consideration!
You can get 2-3 bears out of one piece- I think 9" square??? i cannot remember, but even a six incher is doable. If you can go the $200 then get yourself a healthy sample of the different fabrics and then you can decide which brings you the most joy to use.
And I promise you , you will love it when all these wonderful things come, like Christmas in the summer.....

My teacher actually did complain of me running with scissors-a point of pride-even if they were rounded tips.....thanks for posting.....fun trip down memory lane....

I haven't mailed to NZ since Christmas but then it was about $45 dollars.....since it is for your bear wont you get the money for shipping?
Rick seems to remember the boxes weighing in the neighborhood of 30 lbs.....well its was Christmas.
One thing I have learned is not to send parcel post as things get lost in the shuffle.
I haven't sent anything anywhere since then....guess I better get busy.
I agree dont use the couriers use USPS, always cheaper....but I have the opposite experience with the on line site-its always about 20-30% more expensive than going to the window....
dilu
Oh Jane,
How perfectly thoughtful and kind of you to do this. One of the reasons we love you so much. Thank you Dear Heart, your help is much appreciated.

Very interesting letter, thoughtful and well written. However she overlooked something; by holding funds for 21 days they get the interest and thats a simple net gain. In other words they are a bank without being FDIC insured and what guarantees they do offer are pretty p poor. an unregulated bank-sounds like the Ricoh statue should get them in trouble.
But it wont.

Oh Paula, that poor hubby and his OCD wife.....they do that, biopolars do it and so do border line personality disorders do it as well....sigh
...sad story.....

Wear clean underware and don't pick your nose.....
otherwise you should do just fine.
Hey it's not like you're the only gal in the world and yet you were the one chosen.....there must be a reason!
I read a study once that said overwhealmingly that solid confident people are attracted to confident people.
What time will you be getting home?
will we be getting a followup?
are we nosey?
You betcha!!!

I would hold a doll, but only for a very very good customer....and I can think of only three who would qualify.
Its your call, Ellen. Does this customer come across OK? Has he bought other bears
with no problem?
Which ever way you go we wish you special blessings and ood sales!!

awww jeez louise Marion;
it seems to me that most folks concider Ca the same as the states when it comes to shipping, except for pesky customs.... AND most sellers are really plain and obvious about the paypal thing.
I hate the money order thing. A lot of mold sellers are the same even if you ARE in the states-money order or check. Now its because they don't want to pay paypal fees....I say incorporate them into your initial opening bid.
Hope you weren't waiting on the scissors for some special creation's haircut....
You all up north do have a certain power....theres an awful lot of you and if the us sellers are going to be jerks you can send your moeny else where.....Contrary to what the administration is saying things are not so good down here....and if Canadian buyers took their money and went home the folks down here would have to straighten up and play nice.
sorryhugs

 to you, for sharing and reminding us about the important things in our lives.

How wonderful, thank you Denise...
And didn't you come up with a grand way for your son to get an idea of who his Great Granddad is, and what important things he did! I admire you for this.
Lovely piccy.
one of my dearest friends lives in NZ, and she sent me a commerative tin of ANZAC biskits, which we promptly fell in love with- yum, and the tin had such a nice history of the biskit and how all the wives and moms made them to send to their men for added nutrition, most rightly guessing that the military wasn't feeding them well enough.
Now I have to get infusions of Golden Syrup so that I can make them properly. and of course experimentaly----I love chopped dried pineapple in them.
Ours is called Armed Forces day and Memorial day. Rather prozaic after your Anzac day!
Thank you for sharing this with us.

Awww Janice,
Good golly I am sorry this has happened to you. I imagine you are feeling very let down and hurt, and worse, it makes you less trusting again. Shame on that "buyer"!
OK, what's done is done, you have very very sweet bears and I am sure someone will want the next creation off the presses, and you are right, you wont ever make that mistake again.
If you are like me you will certainly make others in the future. No shortage of goofs for us to blunder into, right?
Others here have made the same mistake.....so have no fear on that point, my dear, and just chalk it up to experience. And try not to think about the lost revenue...
And now? Back to work for both of us.....your next customer will be much nicer.
gollyhugs

Oh Jane!!! HOW Wonderful IF you get to come to the states...Flights of Whimsy has it right=hot and humid. Humid like you can't breathe humid. But not only do the big motel/hotel places have air conditioning they have dehumidifing contraptions.... And we all drive on the wrong side of the street, so unless you are comfortable with that, like FOW said you will be dependent on the metro. Given what little I know I would encourage you to stay at the event hotel; And check with the hotel about transportation from the air port to the site most big hotels here have bus service, pick you up at the airport etc.....
I do hope you pull this off, it will be quite nice for you to have a REAL holiday for a change, coming alone? bringing Hubbers? be sure you bring the camera, our roving correspondent!
gollyhugs
