What absolutely beautiful photos Paula! The valley of the rocks path really struck a chord with me and I started to tear up a little...thanks for the visual respite on this busy day

My only advice would be to make sure its your BEARS that people see. I used to be a professional windowdresser and it is a pet peeve of mine when people load up so much stuff on their table that you don't know what it is that they're trying to sell. If your bears are mostly neutrals like beige or brown, I would go with a strong colour like the blue, but if you do a lot of pastels or strong colours, I would go with black or a neutral shade. I used burlap sacking and all my signage is black on white but it can look quite striking and the bears are the focus.
Best of luck and be sure to post a :photo:

Hi Krista
I'll be there! I'm catching a ride with Julie.
I'm still waiting for you to show up to finish my stuff for the show ...I'm not going to have a lot but that's OK!
Cheryl
I'm so glad you're feeling better Jane...I've missed you!
Take care of yourself
Cheryl
I logged on to PP and couldn't find a reference to it. I do have an account. Is it just a US thing?
Cheryl
Just, just finished it 10 minutes ago! I needed to talk about it to someone and my hub hasn't started it yet I know I have other things that I need to be doing, but I was reduced to "ok, finish this head and attach the ears and you can read a chapter" or "go to bed 1/2 an hour early and you can read a chapter" so I'm kind of glad that its done! Boy, was it dark.
I must confess I bawled like a baby during the burial in the garden -I don't know why since ***** was never one of my favourite characters.
I don't feel that the deaths were random. I find the book has a lot of spiritual overtones for me and that JKR is writing about "bigger things" but that could just be me. I wasn't sure if I was going to let my 11 year old see the movies or not (he's death on reading so he isn't going to read the books, eventhough he tests at a much higher grade level, according to him there is no such thing as 'reading for pleasure' ) We finally let him see
them but tried to look on them not as a 'magic forces are cool' kind of thing but as a 'sometimes the choices we are called to make for the right reasons cost something' kind of thing.
Anyhooooo....
just some random thoughts and now my goat needs a body to go with the 'bargaining head' from this morning!
Cheryl
Wow, if I could shrink me or grow the lily abit (ok...a lot!), I would love to take a nap there Move over froggy!
Cheryl
How beautiful! What a great lesson - to look beyond the obvious and find a miraculous treasure.
Thanks for sharing Irene!

I try really really hard to believe that people do things out of ignorance not out of malice (ok, sometimes you really have to want to believe it and squint your eyes real tight... ) and I'm so glad this turned out to be the case for you Bobbie! Well done.
Cheryl
You're right, the bridge is smaller and the nose end of the snout part is wider. You then sculpt back and forth between where the eyes will go. Sometimes, I will sculpt back and forth 'in the ditch' of stitching between the snout part of the gusset and where it attaches to the side of the head to lift the bridge and give it more definition. I realize this is clear as mud...I should know better than to try to explain something before my second cup of coffee.....
Cheryl
Ah yes, the key chains. Oh, and the hair combs that were decorated that we used to stick in the back pocket of our Sassoon jeans!
I always wanted the license plate with my name for my bike-never any Cheryl though. My name seemed to be popular for about 5 years because I meet lots of them around my age but rarely younger or older.
My son got called Wyatt Burp alot when he was much younger. He also has trouble finding stuff with his name printed on it. I was so excited one day in a little store that sold teddies in little overalls with names on them and they had a Wyatt! I said to the clerk "I can't believe you have a Wyatt!!" and she said"me either, it was a special order that wasn't picked up...can you believe someone would name their kid that?"
I bought it anyway

Dilu wrote:PS, on your hand are you rubbing the tissue around the surgical spot to assist in the return of feeling and also keep down the possibility of adhesions?
diluYes and its awful. Had to rub it the day after surgery (ouch). I had 7 months of therapy the first surgery. My scarring was so bad that he cut out the scars this time and only used stitches on one of the incisions. The other one (on the knuckle) he didn't use stitches for fear of it clamping down again. It's looking good though. Nerve surgery is slooooooooow to heal. My hand was a mess after my wreck. Almost had joint replacement.
I suffer from keloid scars and adhesions whenever I have stitches or a bad injury (I'm really klutzy! ). When I had extensive surgeries on one of my knees last year ( my knee cap slipped out to the outside of my leg, which it has done a million times but this time took a piece of femur with it) I had really bad adhesions. My PT advised using Palmers cocoa butter that pregnant women use on stretch marks, and massage it around the incision a couple of times a day. It worked wonders! No adhesions and my scar is very faint. Try it!

This makes me want to come out to the east coast even more! Thanks for sharing the great photos Tammy!
Cheryl ( the landlocked westerner!)
My girls names were:
*Saffron Ariel
(Ariel is a hebrew name meaning the "Lion of God" which I thought was very cool, unfortunately everyone now thinks "Disney's The little mermaid!)
*Bronwyn Camelia
My son's name is Wyatt Robert Gerhardt (named after his grandpas)
I think Sage is a lovely name! It depends on how well it goes with her last name and I really recommend saying it out loud!
Cheryl
Great Move!!!

I joined this forum to talk teddies, as the name suggests.
I don't consider myself 'basic compassion and kindness challenged' but I do prefer to do this one on one, not publicly.
When I spoke of these 'basic compassion and kindness challenged' folk, I didn't mean people that didn't respond to these kind of postings but rather to members that felt the need to belittle or make light of other members personal issues. I often don't have the time to read through the non teddy related posts either but will try to PM when I can. I hope you weren't offended Sandy!
Cheryl
I must say that I kind of agree with you Shantell - it was my first thought as well.
I do however also understand that there are people on the board that are 'basic compassion and kindness challenged' and others that take things way too much to heart and they need to be able to choose whether they want to get involved or not. Some folks can't pass by a post without comment so maybe knowing what the forum is about in advance will help them make positve choices for themselves.
Big sigh...
Cheryl
I won't be doing the show, but I always try to drop by although Sundays are always a bit crazy for us. Do you know where it is this year?
Are you coming to Calgary Terrie?
Cheryl
I must admit, those "little old man" hands freak me out a little! Can I say they are freakishly beautiful? So incredibly defined...
Cheryl
Its a weird feeling, isn't it? It's only happened to me a couple of times and the one on Ebay, I just willed myself not to look at it. The other one was at a show...a year earlier, someone I knew fell in love with a little bear I had and just had to have it. She was going through a bad divorce and convinced me to sell it to her at a wholesale price. You know the drill...I have no money...it would make me so happy...its helping me focus on the future etc.
( no offence to anyone going through this right now...I just see it now for what it was in this instance...manipulation ). At this show, she brought it to my attention and said she was selling some of her "special pieces" and offered to sell it back to me...for double what I had sold it for!
She did end up selling it to someone else. Funny...we haven't had that much contact since......
Try not to take it personally, obviously they think they can make some good money on it!
Cheryl
I prefer a felted bear (actually most bears) with no jointing. I like to tell a story with my pieces and I like it to be my story...not that I'm controlling at all.........
Cheryl
Nice to see such a great representation of TT'ers! I don't think there are as many entries as last year, but the choosing is still going to be tough.
Cheryl
I think that if she tries to leave you negative feedback, a call into EBAY to explain that she tried to coerce you into committing an illegal act across international borders may fix that problem right away. I think that people sometimes don't realize what they are asking!!! I have seen several artists put right in their descriptions that they will not falsify customs documents.
Cheryl
I live in the middle of the city and I get nervous when someone around me is walking more than one dog!
Seriously...women have nothing better to do????
