I've been busy and I'm sure this will be right up the Aussie BAO members alley! Can't have an online show without one!

bearlysane

Received mine yesterday and I had two more to come. My offer was to transfer to "Collect It" and also receive a further two copies of that mag or get a refund. I will let it ride and see what "Collect It" has to offer, I believe Kathy will be doing something in the teddy section...not sure what though.

Thanks Maria and Lisa ... the last magazine may become a collector's item itself ... so it's nice that I'm in there!

Thanks Kaz...we now have twenty five artists, the half page ad has gone off to ABC, the preview page with all (wooops, should say almost all) the artist's photos is up and just waiting to be linked and the booths are all ready to go...some with bears added already.

WE ARE NOW IN COUNTDOWN MODE!!!

Hi Girls!

We are still on the Gold Coast enjoying the humid weather...damp and sunny!

Had a great time Sunday...it was wonderful to see all the TT girls at the show. Will have some photos for you all when we get back.

The people seemed to come through fairly steadily all day, but I  would certainly say it wasn't crowded. Adopted a couple of bears...one from Tracey and one from Laraine...they were just too hard to resist.

Did manage to catch up with some of my own collectors that had moved up here last year, which was lovely too. Will fill you in more when I get back.

Cheers!

bearlysane

Thanks Jane...saw your comments on the site...Betty says HI!

Hi Sandi - all this talk about Matilda's boobs - I assume you are asking how big my BEARS are?????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maria

    Yes Maria, I was talking about your bears!

I think all the bears are wonderful...Paula's is traditionally British with the red white and blue, Lynette's been very creative with her South African Flag, and yours are soooo cheerful, you can see their excitement at going to the games. I think you all should be congratulated for such a splendid effort.

I wish we could see all the others too...does anyone know if any of the other eight belong to TT?

Now I will have to wait a whole week to see if any more are posted...I'm jetting off tomorrow for the Show at Jupiter's Casino with Betty...and filling is as roving reporter for Sandra (ABC mag) which will be fun. Also catching up with Laraine and Tracey from New Zealand for dinner on Saturday evening...so I'll see you all when I get back with all my goodies.

bearlysane

Thanks Marlys and Maria...she didn't really go in the garbage bin...just in the UFO bin!

BTW How big are yours?

bearlysane

Thanks Kerrilyn  bear_flower

She's a fast athlete...so fast in fact ...she wasted no time in getting a boob job!

She's 20 inches (approx 51 cm) tall...and as far as the needlefelting goes...on and off forever  bear_wacko !!!

bearlysane

Okay Girls ... Matilda has finally made it to the gallery!

bearlysane

And I just wanted to share the news.

I am pleased to say we have twenty two artists from all over Australia and New Zealand participating in the TBACA show, and we will have over a hundred bears on display.

You can see the artists on the website now under Showroom Preview, but the bears will not be seen until the show...although there may be, just maybe, some preview jig saw puzzles closer to September.

Please stop by and wish the girls luck in the guestbook, when you do.

Thanks heaps!

Hello everyone,
I'm a little confused. Is Mindy actually accepting the TBS award entries as well??

I think Mindy's comment clarified that ...

Yes, anyone was participating in the original TB Scene Olympic challenge, please send the photos to me instead of TB Scene. I think I've contacted everyone, but if I left someone out, my apologies.

... but I can't see why any bears made for the TBS Awards, couldn't be entered into any of the other magazine award competitions providing they qualify and are not too late for deadlines.

EDIT: Sue Ann has arranged a second Gallery for the TBS Award entries on TT:

Yet another case, of one door closing and another opening!  bear_thumb

It was lovely to get that email out of the blue, thank you...it certainly perked me up.

bearlysane

I agree with Luann in regards to trying to flog a dead horse...once  show or mag has died in the hole, it's pretty hard to reserect it.

I also agree that we need to support those surviving...but we also need a balance. I support both forms of shows...face to face and online. I just love meeting collectors and find most of my face to face collectors are round my own age (from the old school you might say), but my younger collectors are the ones buying online. Having said that, I do have some very with it grannies buying online too...those that aren't afraid of changing with the times and who love keeping up with technology.

As a collector I buy both ways...at face to face shows and off the internet.

Whatever type of show you do, the success of that show stills need the support of everyone involved...exhibitors can't just sit back and expect it to just happen...they have to do their bit too. Those that pay their fees and don't do anything except make their bears and turn up on the day, are not only doing themselves a disservice they are letting the whole industry down.

It's important that all the artists at shows send out snail mail and email to everyone on their data bases. If everyone took the approach of " I don't need to do it, plenty of others will invite their collectors" there wouldn't be anyone attending.

Promoters also need to have a balanced approach to their advertising, both online and hard copy.

There have been some great ideas put forward on TT and I think we should run with the positives and not let the negatives drag us down.

I'm a great believer in making the most of opportunies and when one door closes another opens. I don't believe in luck, people are rarely lucky in life...those that succeed make it through hard work and determination.

POST THIS ON YOU FRIDGE DOOR:

IF IT IS TO BE...IT IS UP TO ME!

bearlysane

Count me in Lynette, I should have her finished by then...but like Paula, my bear will be sold elsewhere.
