Sarah it was exactly like moccasin on the fur side but nothing like it on the backing. I have some moccasin and this was very odd. When you look at the backing it looks like false ultra suede. Its as if the backing had been bonded on. Would make great paw pads. By the way I'm as bad as you, I must get a tripod!

Hi Amanda
hehe! Here's to us who continue to stack books lol.  They make great tripods and I even have litte ones squeezed in between the big ones so I can angle and take the perfect shot hehe

Judi, I've just been reading this thread.  Sorry about all thats happened to you!

I would be willing to be a part of any new ebay like place that was set up.  If the big bear artists join I think it could really make a difference and be the start of a fairer system away from ebay.  I wonder if a group of bear artisit could manage it or something like that.....Someone mentioned Nancy Tillberg...I don't know her but that sounds great!

Hugs to you Judi bear_flower

Ohhh. Tammy that is so sweet of your hubby  bear_original  What a thoughtful thing to do.  Oh and kiddie made cards are the best aren't they!  Last birthday I got a card from my niece and it was pink with a little girl on the front and it said 'You are 7 today'  rotflol!! bear_laugh  So cute.  She was 4 at the time and picked it out for me.  It has been nice being 7 again lol  :P

And Louise!  I bet Garnet is being on his best behaviour lately lol

I am one of those who loves housework!  I know call me crazy.  Always wanted to be the perfect wife with perfect kids and perfect house...now I'm sick and dependant on everyone else!  At least I can laugh and pretend that my multitude of teddies are my kids...'eat your veggies teddies' hehe  bear_laugh
I don't do a lot of housework coz I can't, but I love dusting and cleaning bathrooms.  used to love vacuming...and I love sorting things out and cleaning up.  I know I'm weird!  I love cooking but only the baking area.  Yummy!  Oh I love to garden too, but can't do a lot of that now.  SIGH!
Now you guys have made me depressed!  just kidding...I can imagine doing things as I lay on my hamock in my overgrown garden ;)
Dilu have you got demestos over there?  Works wonders

I use macro for littlies too.  Or zoom in close.  I love using a light tent too.  Other than that, I think using the settings and learning about your camera is the way to go.  I always click mine to incandescent and it works really well. Sometimes, I've found that a faint flash works well with the light tent, esp when the bear is light in colour.  Other things are photo programs like photo shop.  They can really enhance a photo by changing levels, or brightness etc bear_original  Does anyone use a tripod?  I use a stack of books  :P

Amanda, Pepsi is adorable bear_original  Is that fur by any chance a plush called moccasin?  It is so soft but oh so slippery!!  It produces lovely results tho.
Well done ladies bear_original

thanks guys...I have given my bears a kiss and a cuddle...big game fisherman kiss every fish before they throw it back in the ocean - maybe that's the secret to sending my bears out in the world  bear_grin

Thanks for the advice...and I shall be sure to follow up on it!

Hugs,
Melissa

ps.  no Danni, it wasn't anyone from here who was negative...is that even possible? bear_grin bear_grin bear_grin bear_grin

Oh so glad you are feeling better bear_original And don't  feel embarrassed...we are all here for you and understand. You were going through those feelings at that time and needed to talk.  We've all been there and need the same encouragement at times.  Support is a wonderful thing in the bear community, and as long as you are true to yourself you will always come out a winner, no matter what happens.  Remeber that...You will still have your bears and your love of bears and your friends here no matter how many you sell or what meanies are out there telling you otherwise.  I'm remembering those words now as I'm fighting a lot of health troubles yet again with myself and also with my close family..It doesn't matter if I don't sell again all year..I still have my bears and friends.  :rose:

Take care kiddo bear_original  And is it Rex Hunt?  lol weird guy lol

Sarah-  you WONT be devastated, because you know how much support for you is out there in the great big world of ours.

Now, you might be  bear_angry but not devastated. You might be   bear_sad but not devastated, you might be  but not devastated...because you will keep on working and you WONT let the mean spirited nastys win!  Just like Melissa wont or any of the rest of us here.

We CAN do this, and we know this because we have such kind and wonderful ladies willing to show us the way.....

So hang on to that.....non of us need feel devastated.....we can do this because the Judis, and Shellis, and Sue Anns, and Neysas and Louises and Penneys and all the others who have regular sales are there for US!

Now imagine that!

:P

You are a very wise lady Dilu.  Here is a flower for you  bear_flower  I wish the meanies and people with their heart in the wrong place would just get over it already!!

LOL..... Ta Sarah! no promises we'll be able to talk the talk but at least we'll understand what you Aussies are trying to say! Now if we can remember this dictionary is on the coffee time topic we'll be all set!

Now I need to go get my stickybeak puppy out of the trash can and have a cuppa!
(There, how'd I do???)  :D

Ooroo!

Its so funny coz we watch so much US TV over here that it's easy for us to know what you are talking about.  Suppose you don't have much Aussie TV there do you...we don't have many shows really compared to you. When I first spoke to one of my friends in another group from America she thought I would sound like Steve Irwin lol.  So funny.  I did do a crikey just to make her laugh tho lol.

That list I sent in came from the net.  I didn't know a few of those terms lol.

Glad to see a photo of our beloved tim tams   ohhh they are worth the cellulite

Oh Melissa
Ebay is so tough sometimes and I've found it doesn't reflect at all on the bear.  Its just who is on...who is on holiday or short of cash.  Sometimes if I wait a few weeks and list again it works out better.

I haven't been on for a few days again, but the mean letter sounds awful bear_angry I've never had one biut know I would be devestated...big hugs sent your way okay... pretend it came from backwards land and don't worry about it

Can you contact Bear Creations?  Do they sell that over your way?  YOu can submit a project or give a bear away..all great advertising.  also, do you know anyone who owns a shop?  my sister is a photographer and owns her own studio.  I will be putting some of my bears on display there..and best thing its free and all profits are yours if you know the person...and it doesn't have to be a bear shop.

Good luck and you have lots of support here and your bears are gorgeous bear_original :rose:

Sad I missed following this topic.  Tim Tams!! Yummo!!  We were just having the same discussion on the aussie bear board lol.  I think some members are doing swaps with food there hehe

and I didn't realise how much we do shorten words until I spoke to a few American friends with the mic... breakie, pressie even mozzie are unheard of lol.  I thought that was so funny.  We are the inventors of slack speach  bear_laugh hehe

Yes  bear_cry all the time!  The worst part for me is seeing their little faces looking up at me as I cover them over in the box  bear_cry then once they are gone, looking at the place they used to sit...sob sob
If I have a bear for too long, I can't sell it.  They are mine from a month onwards lol

Jellybelly Bears

Just finished reading this thread and boy it is scary!! Who knows whats what anymore!

One thing I thought of with the shill bidding thing, wouldn't they have to pay ebay final value fees??  Wouldn't that just be a loose situation??

I've had the same people bid on my auctions....and I'm only a small timer.  It must be hard for popular sellers when they suspect you of pulling strings.

I've also found a few people bidding on lots of artist bears all the time...they bid and win like 5 bears a week.  I suppose they are buying for shops?  Its hard to know who is honest these days...makes it all confusing!!

Jellybelly Bears

Ohhh...okie dokie  bear_grin  wonder if we can get stainless steel here???  hmmmm

A little secret I've discovered from my belly dancer sister (who beads her costumes furiously!) is bead thread.  It comes in all different sizes for little bears and big and is rot proof etc etc...
I use it for all the tough jobs, ears, eyes, ladderstitch etc.
I love it and never have a problem with it.  Be interested to hear what others use tho.  I know dental floss is a no no now and is sort of thick too...
