I've been having all sorts of fits with my poor computer     We purchased antivirus programs after having something kill off Ad Aware on our computer... everytime we tried to update the Ad Aware, or run it, the computer would shut down and come back on. Grrrrrrr!!  So we bought this spifftacular antivirus stuffs called PC tools Antivirus.  I've a feeling it was like shutting the barn door after the horse has all ready bolted     The first day we ran it, it located two trojans on our computer, named them and everything, but it kept saying 'action deferred' when we tried to get them quarantined.  Now the company keeps saying to update our program....which the trojan's all ready disabled, even in safe mode.  From what I've read, I'll have to completely gut my computer and bring it back up again, reinstalling everything fresh......gulp!  That's something I've never even dreamed of doing in my wildest nightmares.... every good chance of completely killing said computer.  Eldon of course wants to limp the poor thing along as is.... a poorly computer is better than a dead computer in his opinion.

So my dear teddy bear friends, I've been without Teddy Talk for ages...     And I wanna see what everyone's been doing!!!  I wanna join Judi's airbrushing class... and now I'm not sure I can even do that...  Pooh!!!

Deb: what a miserable thing to happen. I recommend Norten Internet Security software. Nothing get through!! You my computer guy says to buy a new software every year, just don't renew it when you get a notice in your e-mail. I never have a problem with viruses. It might be overkill to buy it but who cares....I have peace of mind.

We had Norton about two years ago.  At first it ran great...then we started having all sorts of problems with it!  In the end it wouldn't let us onto the internet at all     Well no kidding I won't get viruses that way, but if I can't get onto the internet, what's the point??   

I think after I learn to do this 'kill the computer and revive it', I'll have a new skill tucked under my belt.  The people that create these viruses are just too darned tricky.  And yes, we wondered if the trojan got into our system because we noticed it after Microsoft did another of their spiffy 'upgrades'.  Seems everytime they do an upgrade, we end up with a security leak     Eldon's hair was practically on end listening to a guy that works at Microsoft about the security problems!

do you have a system restore set up on your computer? if you know when you got the virus maybe you can " back " up and lose it..and then fire up your anti virus!  we had one that was windows based..and we have a dial up..we couldnt log on and clean it fast enough before it shut us down..had to have a friend run the patch on a disk! they are an awful pain sometimes..we are faithful about automatic updates now! good luck!  deb

You know my dad was asking me this the other day, and I didn't know enough to understand what he was asking.      He was saying there's a way to 'back the computer up' by resetting the clock essentially so it runs as a clean slate.  He was warning we'd lose info, but we're pretty certain we've gotten everything pertinent that we need off here anyways.  Hmmm....I shall have to go and look. 

So I 'back up' the computer's clock, and then run antivirus to catch the trojan?  Sounds good to me!!!
