mvn_parade115.jpgI just wanted to share a picture from our Saturday.  Our church decided at the last minute to have an entry in the Mount Vernon Christmas Parade.  The theme was a Southwestern theme, so I was put in charge of the details.  We had access to an old fire truck, so we decorated him to look like a bull.  The cowboy riding the bull is my son, Joseph.  The weather was absolutely beautiful, and we had such a good time.  This picture is from the Mount Vernon News.

On a sadder note:  After the parade we all came to my house for food and fireworks.  When I got home and went to feed the horses, I found my little donkey, Pokey, was down.  He apparently had a stroke or heart attack and we had to have him put down.  He was very old and we knew his time was probably near, but I do miss him.  It also was hard for some of the kids that we had here that day to see him put down, but we had to have it done.  It could not be put off.

I like your parade photo.  Looks like your son had a great time!
Neat idea to make a truck into a bull....they are kind of like the same thing actually bear_grin

oh Millie: how sad that is for you and your family...Oh my....what can one say....I hope you go right out and get another baby donkey. Trust me on this...It helps with the grieving process. I always hear people say they will never get another pet because it "hurts too much" when they pass away. But my thoughts are this, you had so many happy years with your donkey and if you did not have him, look at all the years you would not have had that joy. Their passing away hurts a few weeks, but look at all the years of joy you had with him.

When my Daisy died, I got another kitten. Though it did not take away the pain of Daisy, having the kitten sure did help with the grieving. So my advice to you dear Millie: Go get a baby donkey and create new memories.

Best of luck

Michelle

Millie I feel so sad to hear that dear little Pokey was so sick. How sad that you lost him. It is so very hard when you loose a pet friend. God bless him!  bear_cry

The truck looks good, shame we can't see your son properly, he looks mighty bold stood up there.  bear_thumb
