Hello Teddy Bear Friends: I was just curious about those of you who follow the Pillsbury Bake Off. The winning recipe is worth a million dollars. Well they are accepting recipes for the next bake off. I for one love to putter around in the kitchen inventing new recipes. I love to cook. Do any of you enter this contest? I wonder if anybody knows what judges look for in a recipe. I happen to love sweets and butter...oh and cream....nothing healthy. I think they look for "light and healthy" recipes. I would be out of my element with that one. But I have faith, one day some scientist will discover that sugar and cream are great for the body and I'd say" I knew it"! Look at chocolate. They have found it is great for the heart or something like that.... Here is the link for those who are interested:

Light and healthy huh?  That's all I do-take recipies and figure out ways to make it taste as good with less fat and less sugar.....hmmmmm

They list previous year winners on the site so you can see what they've gone for in the past, but from what I remember most are really simple but flavorful.  Oprah had a winner on a year or 2 ago....the dessert was deadly looking with granola bars, butter, and ooey gooey stuff..Oprah looked like she was about to pass out from it all bear_grin
I've never entered it, but it would be fun to try...$1,000,000!!  Can you even bear_shocked  bear_original

Hahahaha, did you see Paula Deen on Oprah the other day, she was making her famous sour cream pound cake and Oprah fainted when she put like 3 sticks of butter in and like 2 cups of sugar.
Oprah asked what did the health conscious people think about her cooking. Paula said I'm your Cook NOT your Doctor!!! hahahaha
I'm a southern girl too and I would love to taste her cooking!!!  bear_grin

Lisa, Dilu and Chrissie; I think we should all try our hand at it....Duli, I bet you would get the judges attention for you   seem to have the hang of making things with less fat and sugar.

But for a million dollars, I think I will have to revise my recipes (a little grimace and shutter here). they have). All I know is that my past submissions have at least three sticks of butter....I may have to look at this differently. I don't think I can bring myself to substitute yogurt for cream. No, no....I have my standards you know!!!

Oh yes, I love Paula Dean. I have all her cookbooks. All her recipes are down out right delicious. She too loves butter and cream. My kind of cook!

Well for those who will enter. Good luck. I would love to know if you do enter what are you entering....

Michelle, wow, what a challenge! Go for it, and don´t think about calories or fatfree and all this weird stuff! Most important is, that it tastes great and that YOU love it!

I keep my fingers crossed, but please remind me in time, because I canßt start crossing them now; april is too far from now, and I am clumsy already
oh, by the way: fat free and low calorie and low-whatever does not really say that something is healthy...

Lisa.. bear_grin ...PAHlease..you're stunning.

Imagine the press that would bring to the teddy world.  "And the winner of the Pillsbury Bake Off and One MILLION dollars is teddy bear artist ___________"
Oprah, magazine write ups... imagine all of that!

Tami- I DID catch that Oprah.  I love Paula Deen, her laugh is infectious!  I was cracking with them when she dropped the little dish into the bowl and stuff flew up on her sleeve...she just had a laughing riot with it all. Long before bears my first love was cooking and all things food (kitchen gadgets, books, attending food shows, etc).  Paula's been a fav of mine for a long time, she's a hoot!

Lisa,
Alton Brown ROCKS!!  I love the way he explains everything, his humor is the best.  I really like the Unwrapped show too.  I love watching how things are created and made (imagine that?! bear_grin ).  The food challenges are so inspiring...the sweet ones are my fav...cakes, gingerbread, sugar arts..it's fascinating to watch.

Nancy: Paula Dean's Chicken Divan is a delicious recipe. Have you tried any of her gooey cakes? Oh my goodness. They are to die for.....Anythiny Paua creates is wonderful.

And....I have been dreaming up a couple of recipes to enter. I don't know if they will work, but this weekend I'll be experimenting to enter the contest. Of course they all have lots of butter and sugar...What can I do....I can't, simply can't make something healthy. I don't know how....

I haven't tried her cakes...I must buy one of her books. My arteries will thank me

Oh, Michelle, I hope you do enter...and I agree...load the recipe up with lots of sugar and butter. Everything always tastes better!!

I have to go have an orange now!

Hugs, Nancy
