I was so worried about the little polar bear cub I had to find out what was happening. Here is what I found:

"Knut Will Live, Promises Berlin Zoo
Keep your paws off Knut, was the message from animal lovers across Germany in response to calls for Berlin's beloved polar bear cub to be put down. Now the Berlin Zoo has promised that Knut's life is not in danger.
Knut is safe. That is the message lovers of Berlin's famous polar bear cub will be relieved to hear."
Thanks to Marie for posting the intial outrage of what some silly nuts were thinking about letting him die. But it looks like the voice of reason rang through.....
Thank goodness for that, he is so very cute. Thanks Michelle
Warm wishes

Now that is REALLY good news, Michelle! Mind you, after the huge outcry, they couldn't do anything else.
The good thing to come out of this, one hopes, is to again bring the plight of threatened species right into the limelight..if only all the governments were REALLY concerned .......

Oh thank goodness!
I wanted to ask "these people" if they'd bothered to ask the CUB if he'd rather be alive... and brought up in captivity... or killed so that he didn't "have to be brought up by humans"
Knut is so sweet - I saw a picture of him in the newspaper this morning and was so happy to hear that
his life will not be in danger.
