Dear friends,
After having a good rest and three additional kilograms (due to a lack of physical activity!!! :P) it is time to go back to the real life.
The situation is : I do not want to work as a teacher anymore and i am totally out of ideas about what job to do now.
I am lucky to live in a location circled by apple fields so lots of arboriculturists nearby. So i decided it would be interesting to try a seasonal job as a beginning.
So this morning I took a list of all places where to phone, starting with the closest one. And success at first try : they were still wanting more workers! They asked me to come for my application, so right after I went there.
And they gave me the job! I will begin early tomorrow morning. :)
Oh, i will not be paid much, as it will be the minimum salary allowed unless they add supplements depending of the amount of work we do each day... i will know everything tomorrow morning for my contract signature.
This job should burn my excessive fat (by chance...).
I will try to get back to you tomorrow after my first day if I still have an inch of energy left!
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
Looking forward to hearing about your new job....good luck!
Kathy
Good luck with your new job Sophie.....I know as well as some happy times you did have some unhappy times when you were teaching ....so well done for making the decision not to go back.....and just think you will not have any preparation work to do for your new job....so you may have time to make more little bears and then sell them for an extra income too!....they could be named after apples!
Happy days Lynne
Good luck on your new job. By the way, what exactly will you be doing?
Thanks girls!
I do not know yet what I will do exactly... I will be explained everything tomorrow morning.
just be patient and wait for my report after my first day!!!
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
Congratulations on your new job Sophie and taking the plunge into something new. May you not feel too sore after tomorrow
Hugs Ali x
Good for you, Sophie . . . I remember you did have some hard times while teaching. Sounds like this job will be close to home and with physical activity. Hope it is something you will enjoy. I look forward to your apple report.
Oh Sophie, I can understand why you wouldn't want to be a teacher any longer, I wish you all the best in your new venture.
Working for an apple orchard is not all bad. I have worked seasonally for one for several years. I did not work last year because of all of my circumstances, but they asked me if I would work this year. I am back, and I really do enjoy it. I work in the salesroom and enjoy meeting all of the customers. It does not pay much, but I can set my own hours and days.
good luck with your new job Sophie
Teaching was too stressful and I hope that you can be happier in your new work.
Hugs
Carolyn
Good luck Sophie hope it is a new start for you

Best wishes in your new endeavor!!
I think I'd LOVE to work at an apple orchard............ picking, selling, whatever!!! The fresh air and physical activity is good for the soul!
Can't wait to hear how the first day went and what you'll be doing!!
Good luck with the new job, Sophie. I hope it works out for you.
Before Allyn and I were married, we visited his aunt and uncle in Watsonville, CA. They had an apple orchard and it was very peaceful. Of course, it wasn't a job for me so we had great fun riding around the orchard in an old jeep.
Wow, all the best wishes in your new endeavor! I too just left a teaching position; and am enjoying every day of my decision! I'm truly doing something that makes me HAPPY!!!!
Dear Friends,
Today was the big day and I did fine - at least i think so!!!!
We began at 8 am and worked until 4:30 pm with a lunch break.
I had a good day but pretty tiring.
It really began to be hard by the end of the day, for the last two hours, as my back began to be painful plus of course I was a bit tired.
We were lucky we had almost no rain : just a few droplets. As the weather was cloudy all day we had no need to protect ourselves against sun plus it was not too warm.
I have not picked very much, but I guess this is normal result for a first day.
So now i am home, my muscles are sore but i am happy.
it was great to work in the fresh air.
I was working together with a kid (16 years old) : a very nice guy, a bit shy at the beginning, who finaly began to chat with me at the end of the day when we really needed to find a way to forget time!
I brought a few apples back home : some apples I saved from being abandonned on the ground as not goo for sale.
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
I can imagine the smell of fresh apples right now apple picking in France, that seems lovely to me
, but maybe not to you now with your aching back
get malko to give you a nice massage
Good luck, maybe an apple will fall on your head and you will think of a great idea for a career path

Sophie I am glad you enjoyed your first day. Without sounding like a gloomy-gus be careful even on a cloudy day down here in Australia we wear sunscreen even on cloudy days as you burn with out knowing and it does as much damage as sunning yourself on a sunny day. Here children are taught this right from a very early age. Always wear a hat and keep your sunscreen freshened through out the day. Take care of yourself and enjoy the wonderful out doors.
Hugs
Raewyn
Glad to hear your first day was a good one Sophie, the smell of apples all day must make for a good day. I think your sore back will ease once you get used to the work.
Great to hear your first day went well Sophie. It is just as well that you have moved on from teaching if you were finding it too stressful. It would eventually start to harm your health and that is not worth anything. Good luck tomorrow.
Sophie, glad to hear your first day went well, hope your back feels a bit better today. Don't forget to make Malko some apple pies.
Pauline
Hi Sophie,
I think your apple-picking job idea was a good one! A full-time teaching job can sap your energy, both physical and emotional, so you don't have energy or desire to work on your real love of teddy bears when you get home. A physical job outside may be a tiring, but healthy thing. I would think a change of pace such as bear making at home might feel more relaxing after that. Some artist friends of mine (who did wonderful work) got jobs as teachers, and their own artmaking sadly stopped.
Good luck on your new job!
Hugs,
Ellen
Oh how romantic, picking apples in France!!!
Hi Sophie
I would just like to wish you lots of luck. Both myself and my husband became ill teaching. It is very stressful and I know that you will be far happier without it. I can imagine you picking your apples as I have visited your part of France and have very good friends living in Thorigne sur Due which must be quite close to you. Start to have fun and have the energy to enjoy the good things in life, which do often come free. We got a dog and she showed us how to have fun!
Love
Dorothy
So you DID get the job!! GREAT News! All that exercise... Hmmmmm..
Fingers still crossed for Malko ~
