I have been out of the teddy loop for ages it seems. I have decided to cut my fairs down to one per year as, having been unwell last year with depression I felt it was best to cut the stress down to a minimum till I am fully well. I am still making bears though, one, maybe two a week and I am using the 'time out' to try to be creative.

Some would say that they can't see any difference in the bears I am making but I think the small subtle changes can take equally as long as a whole new pattern sometimes...because they are have self imposed boundaries within which you need to work. I worked out a new eye technique, and a new way to do claws, designed a polar bear pattern, and am now chewing over a totally new pattern piece as an additional 'element' of my bears.

Which do you think takes longest for you...the big...or the small changes..and do people care about the small ones?

Apart from that I got rushed into hospital at the weekend with acute abdominal pains and they have diagnosed cholecystitis..caused by gallstones...so now I am waiting for that operation  now  too  bear_sad !! More time out!!!! LOL

Oh big hugs Jenny. ((((((((((HUGS)))))))))) I hope the doctors soon sort you out and you soon feel 100% again. I sufferered for a long time with A-calculus-cholecystitis, which is all the pain you are having minus the stones. I was in hospital six times before I got an operation. I feel so much better since the operation and I'm sure you will too. I still have to take anti-acid medications, but that's no bother. Don't stop the medication like I did as I still felt quite unwell without it.

For me Jenny I think it's the small changes. I'm not sure if people notice or not, but I hope they improve my bears, so I find them worthwhile. I can see that your work has developed lately, not that it needed to change as your bears are great, but the changes look good.
Keep smiling Jenny, the doctors will get you sorted soon.  bear_original

Big hugs, Jane.

I agree Jane...the littlest things take the most thinking about. Something fairly simple like open/close eyelids for example...look effective if done right and a fright if done wrong...but goodness only knows how many tries I made before I was happy with mine...and even then I am constantly tweaking. I often think people don't really notice the little changes I make but unless I keep changing and evolving I am not happy.
I also think I very often start out with a brand new look/pattern and it always ends up looking like one of my bears...I can't stop myself!!!

Isn't that strange Jenny, it happens with all of us. I love to make all kinds of bears but I've been told they still have the 'Doodlebear' look.
Hope you are feeling a bit better, take care.

Hugs, Jane.  bear_flower  bear_flower  bear_flower  bear_flower
