I seem to have overdone it in my massive cleaning spree, lifting things I know I shouldn't have.  Anyway, my arm is killing me, at the elbow, and when we went bowling the other day, I tried to lift my bowling ball and that was a mistake OUCH  Has anyone else had this problem and how long did it take to get back to normal?  I know resting it is important, but its's hard.  I bought an arm brace to help it, but the silly thing is giving me hives, so I can't wear it too long. Any good suggestions?

Brenda this is what my daughter used when she messed up her elbow. She is a Massage Therapist and has to be able to used her hands, arms and so on. But the most important thing and they will tell you this at this site is to not use it until it heals or you will build up scar tissue and always have trouble. Her elbow was healed and ready to work again in one week.
Best of luck. :)

I have suffered with tennis elbow (very painful) and other joint pains in the past.  I found glucosamine and MSM supplements very helpful.

Regards

Sue

UPDATE
Also since the link has a few products, we bought the wrap. And then decided to buy the ultra sound unit as I suffer from joint pain in my leg from having over 30 surgeries.
I know the products aren't cheap but when I thought about how long she would be out of work we went for it. I'm sure there are other things that can be used but for us this cured my daughter's elbow problem which she had suffered with since high school. She was on the swim team for the whole 4 years. Nothing worked until we tried this. I wish I had known about it when she was in high school because she was sent by the doctor to therapy so many times and had to have fluid removed as well.
Anyway it worked for us. bear_original

Cyndee, I can't get on the site - nothing happens when I click the link or even type the address in myself.  It just sits there???
Sue, I have MSM and glucosomine - guess I will be more diligent about using them  bear_original  Thanks for that info.

Thanks for the information ladies.  I have had what I suspect is mild tennis elbow for a couple of months.  Of course it didn't help that I managed to fall over, land on my nose and wrench my neck, shoulder, knee and elbow a few weeks back!

At least the black eye's have faded!  bear_grin

cheers,
G

Brenda my daughter just clued me in....
Her friend Tana another Massage Therapist bought the products too. But she was able to get her insurance to pay for them!!Gees I wish I would of thought of that!!!
Oh well I wanted to pass that on to you. I know you don't live here not that that makes a difference, you probably have better insurances than we do but it's worth knowing. bear_original
Hope you feel better.
I too have taken MSM/Glucosamine. I'm sure I would have been a lot worst had I not. bear_original

I guess there are all degrees of Tennis Elbow. Mine took at least 6 months to get better and I tried just about everything. Finally a personal trainer had me do exercises that would strengthen all the muscles around the joint without over straining the joint. I thought I had to rest it and I was worried, but she was right.  bear_thumb That's the only thing that worked after the doctor had me on steriods and I had lots of other expensive treatments.

bear_wub I had a cortizone shot in the elbow tendon, very painful after the shot, but the next day it was gone and never returned.  At least that is what did it for me. Everyone is different.

Hi Brenda, I can see the link perfectly - maybe you have a banner ad-blocker stopping the page, I had that the other day on bravenet's mailing site

Sorry Brenda. It works for me.
I don't know what to tell you. Very strange. :(
Anyway hope you are felling better. I too have had years of steroid shots into my knee. Boy are they PAINFUL!!!!!
Thank goodness I haven't had to have any more. I have tried many things over the year. Even magnet therapy.
Sure hope your elbow heals fast. I can imagine it would be hard making bears.  bear_cry

Hi Cyndee,
I wonder if it's a regional/country thing?  It's all I can think of because it will not come up here, no matter how I try and access it :o(

You know Brenda that did cross my mind.
I'm going to have my husband check it out and see what can be done. bear_original

I think you may be right about the country thing as 2 Canadians can't see it but the rest of us can.  Any other Canadians fancy trying it to see?  I guess we could take screen shots and send them to you, and if you wanted anything one of us that can see it could order and send to you?

I had no problems with the link from Oz, so maybe it is a Canadian thing! They don't want you to fix up your joints......meanies!
I don't know, it seems like a big outlay for something that may or may not work. I've been taking Glucosamine , Fish oil & Evening Primose oil for years for other joint pain but it doesn't seem to hit the ol' "dog ball elbow"  bear_tongue
Some nights it keeps me awake, which I hate because then my brain goes into overdrive and then there's no hope for sleep!  bear_sad  I've had to resort to pain killers, not my preferred plan of attack.

Dear Geralye I hope you heal fast. I know it hurts. The medical term for tennis elbow is tendonitis. I had it in both arms and it was very painful. I was on Ibuprofen which helped. But you need to rest the arm, which means no more housework for you!! I know, horrors or horrors, but you must force yourself to stay away from it or any other kind of lifting for it will prolong the recovery. So you must resort to other family members doing the heavy stuff around the house (or hire a housekeeper for a once a month heavy cleaning). For me it took several months with two arm "air" casts before it healed. . I couldn't even sew bears it was that painful.

Speady recovery!

Brenda,  I suffered from tendonitis in both elbows for over a year - brought on by carrying weights that were too heavy for me when walking and then aggravated when I tried to carry on making bears. I had to quit for a while and then moved to only minis which were easier to stuff. I tried all kinds of approaches and NOTHING worked for me - in fact when I started physio that made it worse. At my worst I couldn't lift a coffee cup with either hand - had to drink my coffee through a straw! The Physiotherapist did something to my neck in her treatments and then I suffered constant neck pain for a year when she said she could nothing more for me. I finally heard about NUCCA chiropractory and went for an evaluation. They said they could for sure fix my neck but didn't know if it would help my arms or not - but it DID! That was about 10 years ago and I have been fine ever since - although I carried on with the minis and only occasionally do larger bears as I do feel they are more strain on the arms to stuff firmly. Don't know if it would work for everyone but it sure did work for me. I think you just have to try different things and see what helps - but I KNOW not resting it WILL make it worse!
