I've just sold Kallie on E-bay and the lady paid me right away however PayPal has put a hold on my money for 21 days or until the purchaser has left positive feedback.  It says to ship the item right away however I would like my money first.

I know I haven't sold anything on ebay for probably a year but I don't have any negative feedback but my score is only 58.

Has anyone experienced this and did it work out okay???  I'm really annoyed with PayPal! bear_angry  bear_angry  bear_angry  bear_angry

It's what they do. You have to have 100 feedback before they pay instantly (actually it may take a couple of days to clear). To get around the problem I would ship when I knew that the customer paid Paypal and I'd ask them to leave feedback as soon as they could. Most regular ebay customers know about the 21 day rules. I have known sellers who have bought enough $.99 items to bring their number up to 100 but I don't recommend this and it doesn't guarantee you'll get feedback from these sellers.

I've heard that they can do this, but it's certainly inconvenient for you.

I guess the good news is that you should receive positive feedback soon after you ship the bear, especially if you feel comfortable letting the buyer know what has happened with PayPal (and letting her know that she can contact you immediately if there's any problem, of course).

I hope you get your money quickly -- though NOW would have been better...

Jane,
As a buyer/collector I know of this and I make sure I post when buying an artist bear as soon as I pay if the seller is below 100 on their feedback. Otherwise I don't worry about posting feedback until I receive the bear. That way I can leave a more accurate comment about the bear.
Talk to your collector. He or she shouldn't have a problem with it. bear_original

Paypal enacted this quite some time ago.  I never had a problem with it until I started a new account for my mohair sales.  I always ship when the buyer has made the payment, the money does show in your account, you just cannot access it yet.  Paypal currently has over $200 of mine in their clutches.   Paypal claims this is to protect the buyer while you build a reputation.  It's really just a way for paypal to make money off of your money.  But, that's the rules and if you want to use paypal, you have to play the game.  Do not be wary of shipping your item, you will get the money.

Hugs,
Alison

Thanks Ladies,

I just haven't sold anything on e-bay for quite some time and first of all I thought it was a hoax!!  I mailed the bear today and e-mailed the buyer about providing feedback ASAP.  So as long as the money will be transferred I guess I will be okay with that - well I really have no choice!!

Thanks for letting me know that the money is really going to be mine at some point!!

Hi !
This just happened to me for the first time also !  My feedback is 7 points shy of 100 and is 100% positive, so I was really confused about it. The buyer is 100% positive but around the 50s I think.  I was instructed to ship immediately with a method I could track and stay in communication with the buyer.  I have done both.
To date, I have not received one reply from the buyer nor any feedback.
How do you politely infer to your new collectors that feedback is very important?
I did this sale as a Buy it Now so I received immediate payment, and I do have confirmation of delivery.

Will this occur on every transaction now...going forward? Or just on the buy it now? or just until I reach 100?
Again - would love to hear from those who list often, how do you ask for feedback and stress its importance?

My funds do show in my account as available in 21 days...in "pending" status.

Best Regards

Lee Ann, Did you mail through Paypal? Even if you didn't you should be able to get the money if you can prove that the item was received by the buyer.

Lee Ann,
I would follow Karen's advise regarding getting your money from Pay Pal.
As far as the feedback goes and making contact most buyer know about the feedback and Pay Pal holding the money however with her low score she might be new or doesn't use eBay all that much. I would take a look at her feedback and see what her pattern is for leaving it for others. Some only leave feedback once a month, some every 2 weeks and others when they get the item and very few never bother. You will get an idea as to how to approach her. If she leaves nasty feedback when asked too then you know not to ask. If she has a pattern of leaving it every month/2 weeks you will know when to expect it.
If it's a buyer you know I personally wouldn't hesitate to ask her to post it.
Hope this helps. bear_original

I have payment held most of the time as I am quite new to using ebay, I normally ask my buyers if they can please leave feedback for me as soon as they receive their item so I know it has arrived safely, most people do leave feedback quickly, but occasionally I have not recieved feedback at all.
