I almost have a boy bear done right now and I am at a loss for how to decorate him!  I have tons of ribbon but I think he is too male to have a bow...

Any ideas? HELP!

Hi Kim,
How big is your bear? If he is a smaller bear you can always add a leather string beaded necklace. If he is big enough for clothing, I sometimes purchase clothing in "premie" size. Sometimes they need a little altering.
I will try and think of some more things....

Kim,
I always think a bandana around the neck looks good on a boy bear..like Shelli does. Or a key/bell on a leather strip.

I like to use rusty bells on male worn bears and I also like to use collars with bells on them.

Thank you girls,   I should have added that my bear is about 6" sitting and probably about 7" standing (he isn't jointed together yet - I like to think about accessories when I get to the jointing stage because it gives me motivation to get it done LOL)

He is a dark "auburn" color, like the bear in the pic... reggie.jpg

How about a leather collar for a small dog...they have some really cute ones out there?  You may have to punch a new hole in it to make it tight enough.

Just a thought...can you tell I've been to the pet store lately?

Hi Kim I like to put on my boys bears all of the above ( not at once ! ) and a vest. They are not hard to make and different fabrics ( like Holiday print etc. ) gives them a diferent look. I have a pattern ( my own ) that gives the bears the look of an ederly bear and with them I started using the vest but, they can have a more young  and palyfull look, depending on the fabric and bottoms. Hope that will help for future boys bears.
Bear hugs.

I like to put sailor collars on my boys - not that I make very many boys.

Hi Kim

I was going to suggest rusty bells, keys, medals and sailor collars - but I see I've been beaten to it! bear_original

I have been meaning to get some nice grosgrain ribbon in
dark 'manly' colors like cranberry, navy, & black to use as boy bows.
I have some from JoAnns but it is synthetic & looks shiny & cheap to
me on the bears. But an effect more like a string tie than a 'bow'. Some
homespun fabric in ticking or plaid can have torn edges & work as a primitive
sort of ribbon. How about a boy scout style bandanna?

There are different STYLES of vests - a victorian waistcoat with a watch chain would be
adorable, if you wanted to get into something a little more involved (which seems to be
my problem more often than not lol)

I don't see a lot of bears with jacquard trim collars, & that could be very handsome.
