I have been keeping this under my hat for a couple of weeks, but now I can tell you all. I got an email a few weeks ago from a Lt. in the Cleveland Metropark Ranger Police Department. They said they saw my work on Nancy's NCTB site and that they have several people (artists) they were looking at to make them a mascot bear (or 2 or 3) that will be used to educate children. They bought a pedal car and were in the process of getting it converted to look like one of thier patrol cars. Well, after many emails with them, I got the word yesterday that they are choosing me to make the bear for them. It will be a 24-26 inch bear and will be dressed in an exact replica of the Rangers uniform. (black slacks, tan long sleeved shirt with patches they will provide, black tie, black 'smokey the bear' type hat with silver acorn hat band, black shows, gun belt, holster, gun, baton, handcuffs) I just LOVE doing this kind of commission, because although they have a say in how they want it dressed, but they have given me full artistic control over how I make the bear. After the first one, they will want 1 or 2 as spares and they also want to put a link on thier web-site so that it can be ordered as a custom order by the officers who serve there. Since some of the items (such as the gun belt, etc is hard to find in an exact replica of the ones they use, any duplicates made will be made with whatever type I can find at the time.
I am thrilled that they chose me and want to thank Nancy for sponsering the NCTB site too. Extra exposure does pay off.

Thanks everyone...... now I am off to UCLA to pick up my brother who just had surgery. Geeesh... you would think he would get a ride BEFORE he had the surgery.. Instead I had to take off work to drive 4 hours to get him and 4 hours back.
BONK! He is gonna need surgery again when I get thru with him :crackup:
