Close to Lundbreck, Amelia, which is just a little village half way between the Crowsnest Pass and Pincher Creek - if you've heard of them - if not then 2 hours south of Calgary is the best description. Wasn't really shopping for anything in particular - like Kalispell because of TJ Maxx and Ross and Famous Footwear, etc.
I did get to all those stores in Missoula on the way through. It's just that Kalispell is only 3 hours away from here and has better shopping than Great Falls which is 4 1/2 hours and the next closest place.

Renae, I had ouzu on the island of Santorini in Greece once.  What an amazing trip; it's so beautiful there, you just cannot imagine.  Like a movie.  Like SUMMER LOVERS, if any of you caught that particular ode to the menage-a-trois.

I generally am not an alcohol drinker; it doesn't agree with me.  I actually feel my insides "relax," which is kinda creepy.

Exactly!

I love a town with an evocative name.  There's another up north called SHINGLE SPRINGS.  Doesn't that just make you think of thermal vents and log cabins???

I've heard of Pincher Creek, Edie!!  And Kalispell's going great guns on new stores, Whitefish still has the bestest sushi on the planet though.

We live about ten minutes away from the stores you mentioned [TJ Maxx, etc.], and man, has that fact been a bit hard on the pocketbook!  A mite too convenient!!

*LOL*  The Shingle Springs reminds me of hot-tubbing with a group and then finding out one of the bunch had shingles...can you transmit it if one submerges in a hot bath with an infected shingler?

Aleta, I think Katherine is really talented too.  Last night, she really didn't pick the right songs, for sure.  I think her insecurity was because she knew she was goig to have some trouble pulling them off.  My favourite is Elliot, although all of them are talented.  I figured Chris wouldn't or shouldn't make the top two, and unless Elliot can do as well or better next week, I sort of picture Katherine and Taylor in the finals.  I did a web search for each of their names last week and was surprised to find out just how well known Taylor is.  He has sung at the Playboy mansion on several occasions and sung with a lot of well know artists ie Tom Petty.  He is not an amateur and there was some discussion of two different birthdates given and one of them would have eliminated him from the competition.  Katherine is well know in her area and daddy is a TV producer, so she will have lots of people voting for her, too.  Chris and Elliot, I sort of figured, didn't have a chance, really.  Have to wait and see.

Boy this thread is going to sound pretty funny - the way we jump from one thing to another with so many people posting on different topics to anyone who reads it later!

Ha! bear_original  Dunno about the waterborne properties of shingles the disease process.

I do know shingles is really painful!  A herpes relative (herpes zoster?) that "blooms" along a neural pathway.  My dad had it as an impoverished young man and still remembers with a wince.

...you can eat non-raw sushi.  It's delicious!  You would have to like seafood though---they have several cooked sushi rolls---

smoked salmon with cream cheese, red onion and capers
dungeness crab with snow peas

YUM!!!!  Good fishy oils for skin and hair too.

My sister in Wisconsin lives in a smallish town called BLACK EARTH.  Sounds kinda... rune-saturated.  "Blessed Be."  Pentagram-dotted.  And such.  Doncha think?

..imma go with the Little Rascals on this one..

"What's a diamond?"
"Like a ruby."
"Well, what's a ruby??"
Said in a tone of suggesting one is dealing with a halfwit,"Like a DIAMOND!!!"

---it's basically a blueberry, only smaller, purpler, and with a bit more tartness...maybe like a bit of raspberry thrown in?

Seriously, black bears and grizzlies love 'em to death.  And if bears like 'em, you know they gotta be good!
