Hi...

Some of you may remember the memory quilt I did for my friend who's father passed away...the one from aloha shirts.   Well, I have more than enough shirt material to make a second one for HER.  I told her MONTHS ago I would but to be quite honest I was so sick of the paper pieced pattern that I really want to do something different.  Her dad was a pineapple farmer and she grew up on a pineapple plantation in Maui.  I'd like to do a "pineapple" block but can NOT find a pattern for one to save my life.  I'd googled, yahooed, MSN'd until I'm blue in the face and all I come up with is what quilters call a pineapple pattern which is NOT a pineapple....you know what I mean?

Have any of you seen or have a pattern of a PINEAPPLE I can use?   Please tell me you do...I'll be forever in your debt.

If not then I'm forced to do this other pattern that I'm cringing at the thought of.

Thank you...

Shantell

I don't have a clue or a pattern but I do have a hug for you        bear_wub  I thought the quilt you did for your friend was truly amazing. I'll try to get in town to ask my friends at the fabric store but I'm sure someone will help before then, maybe Dilu, I think she quilts . Good luck  bear_wub

Ooo, Clare, I love that first one!
Can ya use that, Shantell?

Did you want a paper-pieced one? Applique? Strip pieced? (I'm thinking you aren't the applique type??? Am I wrong?)

This link is a little different from the traditional "pineapple" quilt block.  It might be more applique, but it looks cute and looks more like a pineapple than the traditional.  There are some cute pictures out there if you google pineapple applique via images.
Hope it helps bear_original

Daphne...I really love to applique...SURPRISE!!!  I've actually designed some of my own "angel" art.  I should take a picture of a couple prototypes I did awhile back to share. ... hmmm...I'm not sure where they are come to think of it.

Paper-pieced or strip pieces would be preferred...strip pieces if at all possible.  I really am not crazy about paper-piecing and try to convert paper-piecing if I can without  pulling out my hair.

I found both of those.  I do love the first one and printed it out for another someday project (the welcome one).  It's just not quite right though for what I'm looking for.   It needs to be like that except simpler because of the shirt fabrics.  If I was smarter I'd just design my own...HA HA HA HA

Thank you...keep them coming if you find them.  I'll know it when I see it.

I love Lynette's folk art pineapple- i don't think you really want to do the old traditional pineapple....its very easy but very time consuming.....

go for a folk art pineapple-it will show the shirt fabric off so beautifully...

Would you share the picture of the quilt again.  There are so many new people and it truly was a beautiful quilt.
