Does anyone know what happens when something ordered from a supplier goes missing in the mail system.

To cut a long story short...I ordered a pile of mohair from a US supplier...not Intercal.. (no names mentioned) over 2 weeks ago and it still hasn't arrived..and when I checked with Royal Mail...who will forward it to me if and when it does get here, and they say it's not landed in the UK yet.

Has anyone had any experience of this. I don't want to re-order as I have paid out $250 already and nothing to show for it..and the company are addressing it but I get the feeling that it's my problem. If I were them I'd re-send the fabric and look after my reputation...but I dunno...they seem ...very passive and helpful in a not very useful way. It may be that at this stage of the game they can't do anything but has anyone else had stuff go missing and has the company refunded them or sent out new stuff...or did you just have to take it on the chin?

Jenny, I remember my daughter ordered a few things (not bear related at all) from Australia as she lives in London. It was christmas time and of course they went missing in the mail. Well she was sending them emails and felt that they weren't doing much at all. I rang them to find out what was being done, I let them know that I wasn't happy about the way they had dealt with it at all. They said that it had been insured, so I suggested that they resend another parcel and claim on the insurance.. they did that and my daughter hasn't heard anything more.. she did get the parcel and was able to give out her presents in the new year.  I feel sure that the company would be responsible as they would have the tracking number and insurance.. so if I were you I would be getting them to track it and if they can't find it, then it  should be covered be by the insurance and they should send you what you have paid for. I think I would be jumping up and down if I were in the same situation. Good luck Jenny I hope you get some satisfaction soon.

I wouldn't mind Patsy...But I need it for bears I have to make. It's not just the cost of the fabric..it's the lost revenue from the bears I can't now make...

I have had bears go missing for a while..and turn up eventually...but I wouldn't just pass the buck so to speak.

I had a parcel go missing from a schulte supplier in the uk and he told me he had posted it  but four days later it hadn't turned up so he sent me another parcel and guess what they both arrived the next day so I sent the original back and I got a refund on the postage. The parcel had been dated on the day that it was supposed to have been sent so where it went instead in that time who knows! You tend to think does he believe me when I said that I didn't receive it in the first place and I think that he was thinking does she believe me when he said that he had sent it. bear_wacko
If your supplier is worth anything if it doesn't turn up shortly he should send you a replacement as you paid for goods and never got them.I wouldn't order from them again if they won't help you out as what would happen if yet another parcel went missing!
Parcels do go missing and turn up but then sometimes they never do.It could have got caught up in customs or sent to the wrong place and has to go back through the system.
I hope it turns up Jenny but if it does not I would think about shopping elsewhere if they don't send you a replacement and tell them this as well so hopefully they will do the right thing.

Jenny, I was wondering if perhaps the mail is taking longer to go through customs after the problems with those terrorists plotting to blow up the planes between UK & US, just a thought...I certainly hope it turns up soon.

I think it may be customs also. Because if it is the company I am thinking of , well they are pretty good guys !!! I never , ever have had problems with them. Just email them again to let them know it has not yet arrived. Sorry for this torment !!! bear_cry

Hi
In denmark it can take a lot of time to get a package from the USA - when it arrives to the country they have to check what´s  in it, as we have to pay tax when it´s outside the EU.

Maybe it´s the same for UK

Hi All...I think it could be customs too....and I agree with Denise...It could be the scares causing the delay...

But it doesn't help much...I have work to do!!

Well...they have now decided to re-send the fabric...but they are re-invoicing me...which they say they will adjust if the original fabric doesn't turn up. I think it should be the other way round...as a gesture of goodwill wouldn't you think they'd re-send it anyway..and ask for further payment if the other parcel does turn up. As it's a signed for parcel there is no way I could receive both fabric  deliveries and them not know about it.

Customer service is obviously lacking...I am seriously annoyed now.

Hi Jenny

Mail from the US is veeeery slow right now - I almost alway get my 5-6 days after they are posted from the US, the ones posted around 2-3 weeks ago have taken 2 weeks to arrive.  Hang in there as frustrating as it is.

I have to agree - not great cstomer service though.

I ordered from a craft shop in Canada and it took three months to get here to Oregon in the states.  The guy was so nice and had already resent the order....the original showed up a month later.  I contacted him, to have him rebill me for the second, and he said no....so naturally when I need pipe cleaners again I shall shop with him again.  He was very kind.

I don't think this happens allot, but I think internet providers sort of expect this to happen occasionally.  and maybe they build the expected losses into the pricing?  I don't know...but it would make sense.

sorry your parcel is taking so long.
