Back Road BearsJust a little tip to those of you who have turned your bear addiciton into a business and file taxes for it......
When buying from any supplier, ask if you can get a discount as your purchase is for a business, you are essentially NOT a retail customer. Most will give a discount if you provide your Tax Exempt or Tax ID number. These numbers are NOT one in the same! Just don't ask me to explain any further because I know diddly-squat about tax stuff! But if it means I can get discount pricing on my bear making supplies then I'm all for it.
This doesn't mean all suppliers will offer this...... But some places like where you'd order display materials for shows or perhaps suppliers like Darice (doll & bear accessories supplier... Dilu's fav!) and I've just learned of a particular synthetic fur supplier that we've all been talking about who also offers a discount to businesses.... PreFurs. I even bought a piece of furniture for my sewing room recently from a locally owned shop and he didn't charge me sales tax because I had a business and could present my Tax Exempt number!
Also... be sure to ask about volume discounts... Edinburgh offers a volume discount on their supplies, Intercal may also. Now if you buy your nuts and bolts at a home imporvement store thats a huge chain, forget it!!!
I just wanted to point out what may be the obvious to some, easy to forget about to others and ideas some may never have thought of. Every penny we can save in this expensive venture essentially drives our profits up!
