Well, been a bit busy for me!!

My hubbys birthday Saturday, so I took him to our Safari park which was fab. We had a close encounter with a tiger and a brown bear tried to take the hub cap of our car wheel. It was so funny.

Nearly got licked by a giraffe and watched a pride of lions asleep !!!
It was great.

Today I'm chilling and trying to get some bears made!!!

Hugs

Bear show!  Bristol, CT and I would highly recommend it to anyone for next year.  Very friendly, inexpensive to attend, great location, well run, quite a nice crowd of serious collectors and enthusiasts, and I think just about everybody made decent sales!  Besides, it's lovely to be in New England in the fall...

And now all I have to worry about is finishing up a ton more bears for Schaumburg in ten days and then Hunt Valley a few days after that.  Yes, that's three shows in a month.  I am currently questioning our intelligence on that decision.

Kelly - great to hear Bristol was good.. I've been worried about that show and it's future! You've now given me absolutely no reason to be worrying about getting inventory ready for Schaumburg! You and your mom are very ambitious!!!!!!

Yes, I was also at Sarah's Bristol, CT Show and I thought it went beautifully. Sarah works so hard on the show. Good advertising, great time of year, Fall in New England (I had a booth where I could look out the window and see a brilliant flaming Red Maple tree!), and Sarah brought us a very tasty lunch while we were at our booths. (This worked out well for me since my two biggest sales occurred while I was trying to eat my sandwich ;-). I think it's important that we try to support out New England shows, there are so few of them. I'll admit, I've been negligent in attending the smaller shows in my own backyard, so to speak. My pieces are higher priced than many artists and I wasn't sure I could do well at a smaller show. But I was pleasantly surprised; even though I was new to this show I had collectors coming to my booth because they had seen some of my pieces in magazines or on ebay, this and Sarah's work with her show,  helped make this a successful show for KJ Lyons' cats (and bears).

Karen, I'm glad you had a good show there as well!  I wanted to stop by and say 'hi' when I saw you were there, but every time I looked across the room, you were surrounded by people.  That's a good thing!

At one point I wanted to see something in another artist's booth, and couldn't get past the 15 people shoulder-to-shoulder in a 10' space.  I think everybody was very happy about the show this year, so folks... come visit, get a table for yourself, and above all spread the word for next year!

You know, it's funny... I actually attended several small-to-medium bear & doll shows this year in neighboring states, and did sales ranging from good to great at all of them.  Those were unexpected but welcome results!

Best wishes,
Kelly

Ok, Karen  - I know of two great New England shows that would LOVE your support!  bear_grin

Sounds like the Bristol show is on the upswing! I'm so glad!!! The Maine show I produced in August was good too and the response and enthusiam I'm getting for next year's April show in NH is VERY encouraging. Perhaps we're on an upturn here for shows!!!

Daphne,
I was really thinking of applying for your Wells, ME show until I found out it's Aug. 11th! That's the weekend of the Washington D.C. Expo Show! My heart is with you but I have many collectors waiting for me in Washington

Still trying to get ready for the Schaumburg show . . . so MUCH stuff to do and not enough time.  I'm working on a rooster (chook to some of you) this weekend.

Karen,
Yeah, I know, they changed the date for next year without telling me! Shame on them!!!! The Maine show has been the second weekend in August for 13 years now... I can't change it as collectors plan their annual summer vacation around it!

I think the April show in Manchester (well, Bedford) New Hampshire is going to be a fantastic show.... the venue is very well known and absolutely beautiful and it's an untapped market. I have a lot of NH collectors who travel to the Maine show that are thrilled to finally have a show in NH. It's also a very high volume area so I think, with proper marketing, I'll be able to draw in a lot of people who could become collectors.

I know, this isn't the place to be promoting my shows...... just wanted to fill you in as you live here in New England and it would be wonderful to have you!!!
