I couldn't find the thread for what our little bear room/workstations looked like so thought I'd just do my own little thread.

My bears are completely handsewn...each and every little stitch because the sewing machine's possessed     We don't agree what a bear being sewn should look like, and I'm far more comfortable with needle and thread.  Besides, I can sit in the same room with hubby reading a book or at computer and not have that annoying noise going on.  Yep, we treasure our silence...  bear_happy

So here's my little workstation 112_1256.JPG  Its the basket that was given to us by the real estate agents when we moved into our current home.  At the time it was filled full of goodies (long since eaten  bear_tongue )  and I laid claim to the basket.  Its been brilliant!  Not too big and not too small....just right to hold the current bear in the making and all my tools.

LOL...okaaaay, I need to go resize the photo... back in a minute folks!

Hey!  how did that happen???  I went off to resize, and the magic of TT has fixed the photo size all ready.

Well thank you Quy!!!

OK, how do you do that???

I have to have a whole entire ROOM for my stuff and that still isn't enough space to work in!

bear_shocked Oh no, Daphne, that's just my 'workspace'.... when it comes to storing/laying out furs to cut and the actually cutting hubby GAVE me (or rather I looked and laid dominion on  bear_happy ) my bear room!  After hacking and spitting out fur for a week each and everytime I created a bear, hubs was mooooore than willing to donate a simple room to this cause.

This basket I consider my workstation, though becasue its what holds my work as I handsew and stuff, close and finish my bear. If I'm in doubt as to where I've laid something last, chances are I've put it back in my basket.  bear_happy   Thank you dad for instilling that sensiblity!  He always insisted....everything has a place, and everything should be in its place.  Makes finding tools that much faster.  LOL...not that I always follow the rules  bear_rolleyes

Debbie, I make bears from 3 to about 14 inches.  I also sew every stitch by hand.   I used to sew some of the bear on the machine then sew the head, paws and feet by hand.  Now I just sew them all by hand with a tiny, tiny, tight backstitch.  I feel I have more control and can get the rounded areas round without little bumps and ditches like I might do on the machine.  So, you're right, it is wonderful to be able to tote our supplies and sew our little bears wherever the heck we want to be.

I found this little basket/container at Ben Franklin Crafts the other day.  I've been using it as a portable workstation and I love it.  I also have a sewing/computer room where I do most of my work, but when I feel like being sociable and going upstairs into the real world, I can tote my workstation along with me.   It's 9" long, 4 inches deep and 6 inches tall.  Just right.

Ah cool!!!  I loooove that Ben Franklin's bag  bear_wub   Look at all the pockets....

LOL....no, I'm not really that organized, that's why I treasure my little workstation basket.  Its been a real time saver for me because even if I'm in a hurry, I can chuck my tools towards the basket.  Then I'm not forever hunting for say my thimbles, or scissors.

My bear room however..... let's just say I know vaguely where something is...  bear_rolleyes
