Harvest.JPGToday's been a right rainy ole day, in the 40*Fs all day, and with a driving wind/rain...just plain cold.  I've given Mister a second can of soft food tonight for his supper.  I figure why let him burn off what little bit of weight he's gained trying to stay warm?

Blossom spent much of the afternoon feeling her heritage, and being out in the muck.  She faced into the wind and rain, and grazed, and then had a right good ole hoolie in the field...little hoofprints churned up everywhere.  But come teatime, she was stood, soaked to the bone under her field shelter, awaiting her warm tea.  She's been tucked in with some dry hay and a nice warm bucket of soaked beetpulp and handful of sweetfeed with a splodge of honey over the top.

As for my poor hens...let's say they've gotten a decent 'washing' today.   bear_rolleyes   They're feathers are stuck out at odd angles, and plastered flat in other places... I've given them fresh soaked corn and slices of bread, but they're in major sulk mode just now.  One of them tried to do a runner through the door while I wrestled with the corn.  To the disgust of the hen and Mister, she got met with an extended leg and foot barring her exit...yes Mummy knows all and Sees All!  LOL  bear_grin

All in all its been a nice day for settling down to work on bears.  I've got my two commission bears sewn, and I've just about finished another bear.  Won't be long before I head off to work on yet another that got started last spring.  Here's a pic of my latest...."Harvest".. I have yet to colour his pawpads, but he just looked so cute, I had to share.... Definitely been too long since I've made a bear  bear_happy

He's a little darling, Debbie!

We've had a mix of sun, rain, and snow flurries today. I stayed in and worked on bears too - trying something a little different. Had to ditch the first effort as it wasn't working so did a little redesigning and started on number 2 - going much better but not close enough to share yet!  bear_grin

Hi Debbie,
The sun was out here but it was very windy and cold and we are going to be getting your weather tomorrow night in the form of a "wintery mix" or mostly snow! Then it's supposed to be windy with snow showers all of next week. Brrr, brrrr, brrrrrrr!!!!!

I too spent today working on bears. Finished one and I have to say it scares me. It's not that it's ugly or anything but it reminds me of a girl I once knew when I was in my early 20's who liked to call herself my friend but was not to be trusted. I went through a lot of unpleasant stuff with this chick! This bear has her nose and eyes and her wild frizzy hair! I almost want to name her "Karen" but as she's going to Schaumburg with me I REALLY don't want HER tagging along so will have to come up with something better! bear_rolleyes

Unlike last night, the wind isn't blowing, the power is on (we were w/o it for hours last night!) so I'm going to sew for a bit longer and think of people for whom I have FOND memories while I make this bear in hopes of no more Karens!!!!!

Oh he is cute!!!
We woke up to a winter wonderland this morning, but most of it melted through the day.
Just cold and wet now!!

Oh my Daphne!!!  bear_ermm   You know, I do warn people when they're attempting a teddy bear that the fur has a mind all its own.  You can take a pattern and plan for what it *should* look like, but in the end, its the bear that comes to life.

LOL....maybe you should take "Karen" along...lol, you never know who might feel drawn to adopt her...and even though a touch spooky, well, that bear's gotta have a LOT of character!

Stay toasty warm everyone
