Who likes Country music. Last week the Dixie Chicks were in Melbourne Australia and we went to their concert. All I can say was they were fantastic and they sounded just like their c.d's.and they looked gorgous..
Tomorrow night we are going to see Dwight Yoakam... we have a couple of tapes of his concerts he did quite a few years ago but are looking forward to see him in the flesh..
Has anyone else seen these artists in concert?
I LOOOOVVEEE country music. by the way, that´s the way I learned English. I fell in love with country music when I was about 10 (I´ve always been the weird kid) and learned the language just because of that..and now it´s my job. :-))
When I was in the Us a couple of years ago, I saw Alan Jackson and Chris LeDoux and Steve Azar. All of them REAAALLY cool.
We saw Dwight Yoakam at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville on a night when they did a Ray Charles memorial show. He was great. They had Ronnie Milsap, Vince Gill, Martina McBride and Michael McDonald that night too. My daughter lives in Nashville so when I go visit her I usually take in an Opry. Very fun. But, yep, we've been to a bunch of country music concerts. Brad Paisley, Sarah Evans, Alan Jackson, The Judds, Sugarland, Marty Stuare, George Jones. Love em'. But my favorite was a couple years ago when we got to go back stage and have about a 15 minute private chat with Toby Keith at one of his concerts. (My husband's cousin knows him and fixed that for us.) He's very tall. He towered over my step-son, who is 6' 1". We also got to meet Rascal Flatts backstage that day.
My daughter works for an insurance agency on Music Row in Nashville. In their building are mostly music related businesses. She calls me now and then and says, "Mom, Brad Paisley sighting (or whoever she's seeing)," as they often walk up the stairs in front of her window. She's seen Kenny Chesney, Kathy Matea, Keith Urban etc, etc. One day she called me from a pet store in the mall and said whe was shopping with Wynona. She wasn't really with Wynona, but Wynona was in the pet store that day with her daughter buying a chinchilla. Whoa, I'm sounding like a name-dropper. Oh well.
I love Country music too!
Johnny Cash , Joan Baez,Bob Dylan , Jackson Browne, Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris, Crosby, Stills & Nash,Neil Young .. don't know, if this is the kind of country music you mean........... but this is the kind I love
Yep, love all that stuff. Did you see the movie on Johnny Cash, we saw it 3 times.
Will fill you in tomorrow on Dwights concert....
My hubby is obsessed with Neil Young. We were going to Melbourne for a week-end away and we ended up at a movie house to see Neil Youngs latest film, being of his latest c.d.
Wasn't that romantic........not for me but did I enjoy the film.....
Ooo oooo, I love country music! But the country music I like is more modern country music... Like Kenny Chesney, Alan Jackson, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, Good ol' Keith Urban from Australia, Carrie Underwood, Toby Keith, Trace Adkins, newcomer Taylor Swift, just to name a few.
If I could see ANYONE in concert it'd be Kenny Chesney and Alan Jackson.... I love love love them!!

I don't like new country music or much of it in general, but I love Johnny Cash. DH and I love Walk the Line; we have it on DVD. DH saw Cash in concert years ago, but I've never seen him.
Well, am back home after seeing Dwight Yoakam, wow, fantastic excellant and all other words to describe something that was such a great experiance. He sang for 2 hours and 45 minutes relatively non-stop. Some one counted the songs he sang and ended up with 54.
The only critisism I would have is "THAT HAT" beautiful hat but it hid his face. Used the binoculars and only saw his eyes maybe 4 times.
But still it was a concert well worth seeing.
Now had better get back to the bear making...
Yes yes yes!!!!! I am a HUGE country music fan!! Unlike in the USA, country aint cool is Australia. But that's ok - I've never followed what's cool to listen to!!!
I am SO jealous of you Denise to go see the two concerts! Must have been amazing. I love lots of US country, but I must admit that my CD collection consists of mostly Australian country music singers. So, I'd probably prefer to go to a concert of a fellow aussie! I Just love love love love (I have ever since I heard her first single) Kasey Chambers. She is SO great! My other favourite (and only recently) is Troy Casser-Daley. Gee his latest album is fantastic. That boy can write (oh and sing, of course LOL)
Love to hear who everyone else likes - I have loads of favs, but those two are my number 1s!

When making bears, I either listen to audio tapes/cd's or music. In my selection of cd/s I do have some good country music which I enjoy depends on what mood I am in for that day.

Danni, I am also a fan of Troy Casser-Daley. Last year when we were travelling with the caravan we were at Rockhampton and Troy was singing at the Leagues Club. We went and he was great as it was just him and his guitar. After the show he signed our C.D. and had a chat. Can't do that sort of thing with many artists these days.
Same thing happened with Normie Rowe. I loved him as a 15 year old and he was at the Whale Festival at Hervey Bay. As he is a Vietnam Veteran and so is hubby we got to have a chat and some pics taken. Funny thing was his beard was as grey as my hair......time does get away.....not 15 anymore...
I don't listen to much music anymore, but I grew up on country music. It was Hank Williams and Johnny Cash for my parents. When I was a teenager, I fell in love with Willie Nelson. Here I am going to school with kids who are crazy about The Stones, Led Zepplin etc. and I listen to Willie Nelson. They all thought I was crazy. When I moved to Texas I went to see Willie every time he came to Houston. My husband was not a country music fan, so I bargained with him. I'll go with you to see Heart, you go with me to see Willie. I will tell you that you always got you moneys worth at Willie's concerts. He did a New Year's Eve concert every year in Houston, and he was on stage for hours. And you never knew who would pop in to join him for a song or two. I guess I was in that outlaw bunch. Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson and Rita Coolidge (now there's a woman with a voice). Maybe I should make a series of outlaw teddy bears.
