While working on bears for a Christmas show, I had an opportunity to get 3 ostrich eggs. My brain began working overtime. I took the eggs and thought I would share with you what I have been doing. The first one is a Christmas carousel horse that I have painted on an egg. The second is more bear related. I have cut the egg in half. I then made a cushion which I covered with a beautiful fabric (scraps from a wedding gown). I painted the egg to look like marble with a gold trim. I then made a little bear to sit on the cushion. This bear is my Christmas Princess. She is made from hand dyed mohair.
It's lovely Millie! I'd love to see the one with the bear as well.
Oh my how pretty!! Do you work with the eggs a lot?? I'm always amazed with the carvings people do.
These are just so pretty, thanks for sharing them!

Oh, Nice work Millie!  I particularly like the one with the teddy.
I got interested in egg art while back and bought a variety of eggshells. I've got some ideas for them though nothing like what you've done. I also wanted to try my hand at carving them. (Yes I know, I just want to try everything! ) I know some types of shells can be hard to get at certain times of the year so I bought them while they were available even though I don't have time to play with them right now. I'll get around to them eventually. So far they are just sitting collecting dust. So many ideas, so little time. ~sigh~
Oh Milli: what beautiful work....How talented you are....

Milli they are fantastic. I love both of them but being a person who lives and dreams bears I would go firstly for the bear one. I've never made anything like this, I would love to try one day though. Thanks for sharing!
Hugs Jane.
They are gorgeous!! I want to try eggs one day. They've always fascinated me
