Being in Missouri, we've been hammered with four days of ice, ice pellets, rain!which then turned to ice.... Its finally cleared off and this morning we awoke to 3*F.  At least the wind's died down.  Yesterday I was seriously worried for our poor trees....

Here's some pics from yesterday early in the morn.  Our catalpa trees...

The magnolia tree.  We can kiss these buds goodbye.  Silly tree is always trying to bloom!  bear_rolleyes

And here's a view of the front yard...

As I said, that's not snow you're looking at.  Its a sheet of ice, two days' worth of compacted ice pellets, and another sheet of ice over the top.  Me personally I would have preferred snow!

So how cold is it where you are this morning?  I've heard tell the Canadians have it far far colder than our paltry 3*F ....

Hi Debbie,  bear_flower
Your trees are so beautiful!!  I can see why you'd be worried they would lose limbs with the heavy ice coating.  I'd be just heartbroken to lose limbs or whole trees as beautiful as what you have.

It's just 22 degrees here in Portland, Oregon.......and it's SNOWING!!  ACK!!  We were only supposed to get a light dusting but we have three inches of snow and it's still coming down.  I've had enough of winter already!!
I'm ready for SPRING!

Warmest bear hugs,

Hi, Debbie. It's been very cold here in Colorado Springs. The other night, the overnight low was supposed to be about -2, and the high on Sunday was about 18. We have snow all over, though it's not deep, but it's not melting very quickly because it's been so cold!

Aleta, I work for a company in Seattle, and I hear they're having snow, too. And they tend to get those icy roads, which you probably also get. Yikes.

Stay inside and toasty warm, you two!

Hi Deb, Great photos.  It sure is gorgeous when the sun relects on ice covered trees.  It's like a coating of sparking crystal.

It's 9 degrees here and we had a good snow storm yesterday.  Now my Joey can finally build his snowman.  How are your ponies liking the snow and cold?

Me too, Aleta!!!  Bring on the Spring time...the flowers, the sun, the warmth.  I'm tired of rain and brrrrrrrr cold.   We still have snow from last week that hasn't melted.  We didn't get snow this time but FREEZING RAIN.  ACK ACK ACK!!!

I heard that it won't melt away today...won't get warm enough before it starts freezing again...isn't that just lovely.

Give Max a cuddle for me!!!

Hugs,
Shantell

Hi Debora,  bear_flower
Yes, I remember those icy roads in Seattle!  I remember too, how when it would snow, people would just get out of their cars on the freeway and start walking!!  In all fairness though, if you've ever lived in the Seattle area most every neighborhood requires either driving up a hill or down one and snow means.....disaster!!

When we moved to Portland two years ago we must have been thinking we needed to live in the same hilly environment.  We live on top of a ginormous hill....when it snows?.....we stay home!

Warmest bear hugs,

Hi Shantell,  bear_flower
Yep.  I heard you guys were getting the freezing rain.  UUUGGGHHH!  Between the two, I'd rather have the snow.  It's prettier!!

Bring on the springtime bulbs and flowers!  My poor palm trees are just shivering!!

Brrr......some pretty cold spots in the world just now.

Judi, I'm happy to hear your little boy has finally got some snow to build himself a proper snowman  bear_thumb  I bet he's got a grin from ear to ear out playing in all that  bear_laugh

The trees do look lovely now that the sun is shining...actually it makes things a little hard to see for all the glare  bear_cool , but they're still pretty.  Thankfully the wind's died down.  I hope it stays that way til the powerlines and trees get melted

Debbie, I admit that I just love to sit inside and look at the ice sparkling on the trees.  But, it is so dangerous if you must go out.

Winter decided to arrive her last night and we got a few inches of snow before the freezing rain started.  Fortunately it warmed a bit and it was more rain.  It is messy today thought but 2C ( 35F).

Tomorrow however is supposed to be -15C and feel like -30C (-22F) with the wind !!!!  YIKES, I'm not ready for that.   That kind of temperature belongs in western canada not here in the east !!!!

Keep warm everyone.

Hi guys,
It's about -7C here, which isn't too different fro -7F once you get into the minus digits.   Everything is white, but its hard and crunchy, since it was sleet and hail yesterday.  This is the coldest we've had it all winter, but it's bright blue sky and sunny, so I'm fine with it.  I will actually be riding downtown on my bike.

                             hugs,

Yikes, Tammy! That is some cold weather!! Stay indoors!

Aleta, you live on a huge hill? Ah, silly bear.  bear_laugh Yep, I remember people abandoning their cars in Seattle...and my coworkers said it happened again with one of their recent snow and ice storms.

I love to look outside at the snow when it's sparkling. That is just beautiful. On Sunday, the air itself was sparkling; I think whatever moisture was in the air was frozen, so it looked like pieces of glitter floating in the air!

Hi Debbie,
Nope - nice warm mitts and rubber hand grips.  It's a mountain bike and I ride it all winter. I HATE walking LOL!

It was -15C when I left home this morning but sunny and with all the new white snow - a very pretty day. It's going down to -21C tonight so I'm bundling up by the fire this evening!

It's a c-c-c-cold one here in Iowa.  Temp was -15*F early this morning, and just now climbed to 0*......ooh, a heat wave! bear_grin It's supposed to steadily and slowly climb through the overnight tonight so we'll have 20's tomorrow.  Goody!  I feel like a popsicle!! bear_tongue  bear_grin Hard to believe it was 50* last week, and now this.  Doesn't give the body time to adjust! bear_wacko

We did get our first real snow storm Sunday.....ended up with 6 inches.  My boys were praying for Monday off of school, but the snow plows did such a good job, they only got a 2 hour delay. bear_shocked And no playing out in the white stuff yet either until it warms up a little......not going over well with my little guy! bear_tongue

Awwhhh...what a rip off!  Delayed school day by two hours.... sheesh!  Well I remember those days.  You feel sooo rooked, longingly staring through the school windows at all the fresh snow.

Gosh, there's some truly, truly cold temps happening.  We'll look back when its over 100*F and sigh about it...

29 degrees F and that's COLD for Texas!  Well, except for the panhandle . . . it does get cold up there.  Very wacky weather.

Here in the forest it was 15F....the snow makes everything so quiet and serene.  Gotta love it.

The hubs, ever the Overkill King, built a wood box to fit in our mud room that holds enough wood that we can go a week at these temps and not have to trek out to the wood shed for more....bless him.

I thought Shantel, Aleta, Kassie and Renae would have it much worse than we did....odd

It has gotten up to 19 degrees this week It is supposed to snow on Thursday, so that may warm it up some. I love it!!!

Wow! All these cold temps. I live in a California mountian area and left early to the San Diego show due to a snow storm that hit here last week, only to come home to frozen pipes. Our temp was 11 degrees on Friday. This hasn't happened in this community in years. Many have frozen pipes.

Hubby started the fire last night which we will keep going until tomorrow morning.... temp this morning according to my thermometer is (-20 F) (according to the radio, it is only -13F).  Off to breakfast this morning and work this afternoon......Hubby went to start his car this morning, dog stayed inside and watched!   So, I won't even try to take him for his walk around the neighborhood...............

It was -27C this morning but still sunny. Fortunately no real wind chill - that's just brutal. Supposed to be warming up tonight to -5C so that's something to look forward to.
